EVENT - CHASING THE SUN

EVENT - CHASING THE SUN
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation

As the white-gold sun sinks behind the horizon just before five, the shadows loom before blending into the inky darkness as a waning crescent moon rises, seeming to struggle to give it’s dim light to the longest night of the year.

In Soleil and the Academy, on cobblestone roads and in the halls, apparitions start to appear, visible only to those who may have grudges, burdens, or sins weighing on their shoulders. People drowning their sorrows in the bars suddenly cry in alarm and stumble out into the darkness, chasing the phantoms of their regrets.

In the forest itself, a ring of fae surrounds a large white boar, festooned with mistletoe, lead by a white-haired woman on a white stag, leading them in a lilting chorus. As the boar starts to take off, the songs turned into terrified and startled screams as uniformly solid grey wolves the size of Clydesdale lunges, scattering the group before giving chase to the boar, snapping at its heels.

The academy’s volunteers were ready - thanks to the foresight granted by Cassandra, they know their task: Stop the wolves from killing the mythic boar.

A. PREPARING FOR THE CHASE

With the forewarning, those who volunteer for the task will have time to prepare themselves for the long nights. Scarves with temperature stabilizing runes are handed out, along with night-vision glasses. Things will get hectic once the hunt is on, so it’s a good time to coordinate and get out any nerves.

B. GHOSTS OF REGRETFUL PAST - OR THAT THING YOU DID WHEN YOU WERE 12

Every where, in the hunt, in the academy - the spectres made themselves down, searching for the ones they want to atone for what created them. At first, only the ones that are meant to see the ‘message’ will notice these spirits, but as the night goes on, they start to materialize, more “real”. They take the form of visions, or the shape of a person the viewer perceived they had done wrong to, surely it wouldn’t be too bad to have a little chat… right?

C. PURSUIT!

The Boar ran wild, the only certainty in its path is that it is going further from civilization. Even when it momentarily shook off the wolves, it dares not stay still, going through anyone and anything that would be foolish enough to get in it’s way. It is a good idea to stay close, to make sure no other harm would befall this creature, especially as it seems blind to hazards such as frozen rivers and ravines.

D. BATTLE OF THE GREYS

The enormous wolves are relentless pursuers, leaving trails of grey footprints where they roam. Aside from their large sizes, they possessed sharp intelligence, and strong, visceral reaction to displays of strong emotions - and seem to be weakened by it. While they are focused on attempting to kill the boar before dawn and will try to evade hunting parties rather than fight, this weakness can be exploited.
