Toad! Of! Fortune!!!

Avery is not particularly excited to do this, but the powers that be have insisted that he have something a little more tame in addition to his other offerings.

In this particular corner of the Outlands, the guilt or innocence of the accused isn't determined by a jury of one's peers or the banter of lawyers, but by a ritual of sorts, where the accused cuts their hand and spills their blood upon the back of a toad. Depending on the color the toad turns afterward, the accused is considered guilty or innocent.

Apparently there's some distinguishment in hue for whether or not an act was premeditated or accidental, and Avery has promised extra credit to whatever student manages to figure it out.
