The fact that they continue to bar the academy from attending the ceremony over some event long since forgotten seems to imply they are less than willing to side with us. I'm not going to say it's impossible, but if some petty squabble that occurred hundreds of years ago was enough to turn them against an academy dedicated to stopping the occurrence of Nightfall...then it seems like attempting is the true waste of time.
