Héctor, mistakenly thinking he understands how the kid must be feeling, gives a solemn nod. That Avery... just one of too many teachers who thinks the best path to teaching is fear. At least he's not totally helpless in this scenario.

"Alright, no problem. I'll put you in for an hour five days a week for the next few weeks and that, hopefully, should catch you up. You and I will work this out together." He offer the kid a warm and reassuring smile.

He goes back a minute to jotting more things down. Then asks, "I'm sorry niño, I'm not sure I've got your name? And your dorm too would be good, just so I know where to leave any notes if necessary."
