Honestly, the fact that it was something sentimental as opposed to of actual value, that just means he wants the guy's input more. He's not actually sure whether this will hold up, and he doesn't really want to face any wrath if it doesn't, but more than that, he just doesn't want to be the one to break someone's precious memory of their dead father.

With the verdict given, he nods and says, "Alright. Lets do this! We're going to need a good clamp for both of these. Should be one on that side of the room. You get that set up and I'll get out the safety googles." Because even dead, no one wants a sliver in the eye.
