Rex is probably more accurate than he thinks with that mistake, and it's not taken at all like an insult. Applying any sort of adjective in the realm of 'kind, decent, nice' is in error. He tries, but he generally falls short of those things or does something to change that perception fairly quickly. He's lucked out with Rex so far.
