Witch Time!
Who: Cereza, Puella
What: Combat training
When: Friday, before everyone leaves for Spring Break
Where: Campus Courtyard
Warnings: Violence, cuteness. Cute violence.
Cereza had happened upon the Kid with the Hat while she was searching for a way to fight. Well. Cereza wasn't about to leave that issue unaddressed, so she'd invited Puella to the courtyard after class to teach her some basic moves.
She waited for Puella, draped over a stone bench and reading from her tablet. Not warming up, not setting up any kind of props, nothing. Odd.

"I'm here~ --?" Indeed, Puella was half expecting more than just this. Then again if it is going to like her other bits of training, maybe they don't really need much.

She stands up and puts her tablet away.
"Now then. First of all, I'd like to see that nice stick you said you picked up a while ago. I'd like to see just how battle-ready it is."

...Yup it sure looks like an ordinary long branch gotten from a tree somewhere. Something simple and certainly low budget to practice with, sure, but not the most combat ready. To be fair, the most combat thing she ever had to do was try to poke Ekkehardt with it.

She takes it up for a moment, regards the length, hefts it, tosses it in one grip to determine the balance, then re-angles her arm for a precise horizontal swipe over the girl's head that is somewhat reminiscent of a ballerina brandishing a machete.
"...It'll do, for now." She agrees, handing it back. "Now. Take a couple of steps back for some room, and show me what you can do with it so far."
There are multiple ways to fight with a stick, you see, and she wants to see where Puella has naturally tended on the spectrum between claymore swings and fencing jabs.

This sure was an interesting time to be put on the spot.
Puella simply stood there after she back up, in a bit of a stage fright. But sooner or later, she attempted to swing the stick like a one handed sword. Not very good, of course, the aerodynamics on it probably was not that great and she was feeling nervous. But it was the first thing that came naturally.

"All right. Now I know where to start. First off, don't be afraid to use both ends of a fighting cane. Here, give me one second and I'll show you."
She draws a circle in a direction away from the child, and steps through the thin circular portal that forms, seemingly disappearing. Exactly twenty seconds (and some angelic screeching and struggling) later, she emerges with a long, glorious-looking silvered mace, that she proceeds to viciously break the head off of to form a "stick" of her own.
"Here we go. Now with canes, you can wield them like a truncheon like you just have, but don't forget that what you hold has two ends, and both are equally useful."
She holds hers up with one hand on the end and one in the middle. "THIS is a good way to deflect and parry blows, and you can let go with either hand to give your opponent a good whack when they least expect it. Now take this stance, and I'm going to give it a light tap."

"Wooaaah..." That mace was awesome! Also if you can just go pull weapons out of dimensions what's the point of ever buying anything?? ...Too bad Cereza just busted it.
Puella looked down at her stick (which now looks even more pathetic in comparison) to see how she was holding it, and what she had to do to copy her. Holding it with two hands like this felt kind of restrictive...but maybe there was some point to it she's missing.
"Like this..?"

She flips her new silvered cane out and bonks Puella's Guard. Not too fast, more for demonstration's sake, but it's obvious that would have been going for her head if she hadn't. Bonk bonk. Bonk.
"Now aim for me."

Except now it was her turn.
"Huh?" Puella hesitated. But if she did attack now her defense would be wide open. Was she...was she supposed to lower her guard? She was doing so slowly in case Cereza was going to lunge at her again. However that did not seem like the case. So Puella was going to have to give it her all.
She swung the stick up and was going to bring it down like a club on Cereza with everything she got, similar enough to what she tried to do just now. Which...honestly Puella's 'everything' is not a whole lot by comparison either.
