FOXES AND WOLVES

Who:
Team One: Ky Kiske [personal profile] bejustorbedead,Nana Daiba [personal profile] playitagain, Kanata Nanami [personal profile] tsuns, Doreen Green [personal profile] partiallysquirrelblood, Lie Ren [personal profile] nevernoaction
Team Two:
Bowser [personal profile] talkstoposters, Grimm [personal profile] fireindreams, Tokidoki Rikugou [personal profile] yokeye, Gongenzaka [personal profile] betheman, Isabel Guerra [personal profile] morelikeisabeast
What: Negotiating A treaty between Werewolves and Kitsune
Where: Daybreak and Kitsune Territory in Outlands
When: Early-Mid May

The full entourage of Kitsune, dressed in fine heian-era court clothing was lead into the heart of the Academy, as the Empress steps out of the veiled Palanquin, her painted face impassive and with the air of a woman used to being in command.

On the other end of the Banquet hall is a tall, imposing woman with arms and a face full of scars, with a sharp glint in her eyes. And as the Empress was flanked by imperial guards, Helga of the Bloodclaws had two others by her side.

While there had been assurances from the Academy for both sides that conflict will not break out, the air is still tense. One wrong move, and blood may be spilled.

"Well, uh..."

Isabel hesitated before speaking up. She was probably the youngest person here and felt JUST a touch intimidated.

"...Why...do we care about the Bloodclaws? If they kill people then maybe we shouldn't be helping them."

Toki listens intently, as he's certainly not reading the files. It seems a simple enough thing to mediate; both sides have their grievances, but it apparently boils down to a trespassing accusation and asylum claims. When he hears 'they are known Human-killers', everything turns to white noise after. Known. Human. Killers. He stares at the conference table, trying to keep it in focus. He fails, images of his sister's dismembered body, the werewolf attack, blood-soaked grass. It all comes back. He bites down on one hand to keep from screaming or crying; willing the memories away.

But this is why he signed up for this mission, closure of sorts. His attention now back on what's happening, he catches Isabel's question. She makes a good point, and he understands her hesitancy. There isn't enough information to make a judgement against the Bloodclaws just yet, though.

"To what, um... T-to what extent have they killed humans? What were the circumstances?"

Gongenzaka- who has been quite notably steel-eyed and quiet for most of this (and little surprise given the background of his dojo)- takes a small moment to think before commenting on Ky's explanation.

"...Do you feel perhaps, that they would be willing to reconsider such an attitude regarding their transformations?" he questions, adding of course- "...Certainly not for the idea of offering refuge ourselves- in general, is what I am asking."

[Ren has read over everything carefully, going over the details and listening to them as well.]

It would also help if we knew where these attacks where happening so we could have them reconsider. I mean, is this in the middle of a town or in the wilderness and they happen to come upon someone?

"Maybe we can offer something?" Nana asks. She looked distracted, a moment before; her brow was furrowed. Now, she looks up, and peers across everyone -- and then she looks back at Ky.

"So they won't transform when it could catch humans in the crossfire."

Bowser generally remains quiet as everyone else has their share. Mostly because he's less for planning and more for action. Still, even he has dabbling in scheming more than a few times. Can't hurt to add in a few more.

"Like what? Doubt they'll want anything other than a place to stay."

"We kinda do have a place for them to stay where they won't come across humans? The problem is it's with the kitsune. I am all for solving the murdering people problem. Seriously, what the guys? If we can solve it today? Great! If we can't we kinda need a back up plan until it is solved."

Doreen absolutely wanted to get the Bloodclaws to reconsider their human-murder policy. Depending on their reasons for it, however, it might not be a problem that could be solved immediately. Not that she wouldn't try either way.

"Do we know what the Kitsune want in compensation? Is there any way to get them to change it to something the Bloodclaws might be more inclined to pay in exchange for refuge?"

Like many so far, Grimm has remained silent as his peers speak. It is in contrast to his dramatic self but this situation likely has already seen its fair share of drama and does not need more added to it. And remaining silent also allows him to better hear the whispers coming from the Nightmare Heart.

He can certainly see the concern regarding the Bloodclaws' human-murder policy. Grimm would not take the high road and say its is unforgivable - the Grimm Troupe was filled with Vampires who were kinder then most...but none of them could be called pacifists either, Grimm included. At the very least, speaking of that policy may give way to better discussion. As Ky noted, the Bloodclaws did not avoid humans when transforming, but do not deliberately seek them out.

And Doreen has a point as well.

"I too wish to know what the Kitsune desire in the form of compensation. If it can indeed be changed to something that both parties can agree upon, perhaps things will become easier to deal with."

[personal profile] yokeye 2019-05-17 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems that the werewolves weren't intentionally murderous, as far as he's understanding. So that problem is now a minor concern.

"Is this monetary compensation!? The school has a lot of money, right!? Why don't we just pay the kitsune to let the Bloodclaws stay and everyone's happy!?"

"I doubt it's just money, Toki..."

Nana sighs, as she thinks about it. "Maybe we need to find a new home for the Bloodclaws. I'm not sure where," she says. "But maybe something exists? Um--" She looks at Bowser, filling a little odd to even address him. "Do you know of anywhere in Outland, Mister Bowser?"

Also, if we are giving them their own land, we'd need to know how much a werewolf considers acceptable territory, let alone a whole pack.

If they're territorial enough, they might need or demand their own village to keep them separate from everyone else.

[Which would certainly be a whole host of problems. But he is curious about what kind of information Bowser might have.]

Nana's address catches Bowser's attention almost immediately, but he doesn't speak until Lie Ren finishes. He mulls the question over for a few seconds, wondering if he really wants to stick his neck out for these werewolves this much.

"They could probably stay in my kingdom or somewhere close to it. Won't really know the details of what they want until we actually meet with 'em, but I could probably work something out. It's probably gonna be a pain, though. Would take a couple of months to move them there and we'd be giving ourselves more work to make sure they get there smoothly."

"So then, at the very least it is possible we have a back-up option..." Gongenzaka notes with some clear relief. He does not directly comment on how to bring up the idea of control and such with the wolves- as Ky said, they will need to be careful if it comes up at all. But at the very least the picture being painted is a more hopeful one when it comes to preventing any possible casualties along the way.

That said.

"Exactly how is it that they came upon the Seinaru lands to begin with?" he asks curiously. "Given the attitude of the Kitsune, I am somewhat surprised the Bloodclaw would insist upon staying, rather than seeking another location...In addition to refusing the Seinaru 'compensation'," he adds, his tone implying that he doesn't quite agree with the idea of the foxes calling for punishment. Considering all they know of the Fox's end is that they desire some sort of payment for intruding...

Well, on that note- "...Did the Bloodclaws do anything in particular to draw the ire of the Seinaru, beyond intruding upon their territory and requesting refuge?"

'Requesting', he suspects, is a too polite a way to put it.

Grimm nods before looking over at Bowser. "I would be happy to offer my help along with the rest of the Grimm Troupe. We are able to move things quickly as needed, if this is the option taken in the end."

And that certainly is quite the implication. "Perhaps so, but while I understand the need to recover, resentment is unhelpful. If the option of moving the Bloodclaws' is accepted will the Kitsune still demand Compensation for the time already spent upon their land?"

Because Grimm could see things becoming difficult if that was the case.
