I think... that's something of a trick question. Some people will say that any price is worth paying, but I don't think that's true or fair. You aren't responsible for the whole world by yourself. You shouldn't have to feel guilty for wanting different. What I think you should do is what feels right for you-- and not because of what anyone says, high seer or no.
