Who: Ana and open!

What: Local girl arrives late to the party and tries to gather her bearings in light of recent developments.

A. lumière dormitory
[ seems like the lumière dormitory has yet another new arrival, but this newcomer doesn't seem to have much other than...books. like, a suitcase full of books. there's also a small stack of books under her arm, and one on top of the suitcase as well. she's also got a duffle bag which presumably contains her necessities.

she makes her way to her room and attempts to open the door, but the books under her arm slip out from under her and tumble onto the floor. ]

Oh!

[ when she bends down to gather them up again, she knocks on her suitcase, causing that pile of books to tumble down as well...right in the path of someone walking by. ]

Oh, I am so sorry! Please, don't mind me. Unless I'm in your way, of course -- then by all means, allow me to scurry out of your way...

B. market square
[ there seems to be a line forming at one of the food stalls, namely one that offers a wide variety of different things. the customers further up in line seem to be getting disgruntled, and the cashier seems very unimpressed. upon closer inspection, ana appears to be the culprit; contrary to everyone else, though, her eyes are absolutely glimmering as she looks up at the menu. ]

How about...the chicken -- oh, but the salad sounds delicious too... Pardon me, I haven't had so many options before! Now let's see...

[ help her out? or push her out of the way? ]

C. hall of pythia
[ ana can also be found inside of the library with a rather sizable stack of books, and a notebook in front of her. she's wearing her reading glasses and can be seen scribbling furiously in her notebook, glancing up at her open book every so often. this book in particular is about invisibility runes.

perhaps there's a book she has that you'd like to read, and she's been hogging it for a little too long? or maybe you're just interested in seeing what she's writing. either way, it's kind of amazing just how fast she appears to be working. ]

[Lia's already managed to pick up the habit of wandering through the Lumière dorm periodically to see who's around. And hey, sometimes it means meeting new people! (Although, it's not like she's met everyone in the dorm yet...) And there's one now!

... Goodness, that's a lot of books.

That is a lot of books suddenly in her path, even. She shakes her head at Ana's words.]

Do you need some help with all that?

[ she's so embarrassed when someone approaches, not wanting to trouble them, and ana shakes her head in response. ]

I should be alright! [ she nudges the door open with her shoulder, which results in her almost dropping the pile of books in her hands again... ]

...Supposedly.

[Even if Ana said she'd be alright, Lia starts picking up some of the books anyway. She'd feel bad if she didn't help even a little.]

I'd make a joke about doing a bit of light reading, but I'm not sure I'm witty enough for that... Just get here, I'm guessing?

Ah -- [ ana makes an awkward motion to try to keep lia from picking up her books, but she really is a mess. it's pointless to try to convince the other girl otherwise. she settles on defeat for now, picking up the last of the books and putting them onto her desk. ]

That's right. I arrived here less than an hour ago. [ she extends a hand towards the other girl. ] My name is Anastasia, but you can just call me Ana.

[Ohhh boy, the one time Jolyne decides that it's a good idea to go out and get something proper to eat is when there's some dipshit holding up the fucking line. And, as is usual with her, she's bristling and moving to find the culprit.

Of course it's some random-ass student she's never met before, which further is stoking the fires of her temper.]

FUCKING PICK SOMETHING OR GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY. [Jolyne, no. Yelling isn't helping literally anyone.]

[ listen. this is fair.

but also, so not fair. ana turns to the culprit and narrows her eyes, folding her arms across her chest. ]

You don't have to be so rude about it.

[ she's trying very hard not to raise her voice. very, very hard. ]

[Is it supposed to be intimidating when she does that? Because she's just bristling at every little motion and word at this point. But that's mostly normal.]

Just. Fuckin'. Order. No one wants to wait while you try and decide, some of us got places to be and shit to do. [This is literally the absolute worst.]

Bitch at me later, goddamn.

Welcome to Daybreak, in that case! [Lia beams as she accepts the proffered hand, shifting the books she picked up to one side briefly.] I'm Lia. It's nice to meet you, Ana!

[Once she lets go, she holds out the books she gathered.]

[ this is actually the worst?? to keep anyone else from causing a scene, however, she just settles on the salad and moves off to the side. ]

There you are.

[ ...well then. that solves that problem. ]

[ oh, she's very sweet! ana can't help but smile as she gathers the books from lia and sets those on the side, next to the other ones. ]

It's wonderful to meet you as well. I apologize for the trouble, really, but I'm very grateful you were here to help.

[She is the absolute worst, it's just how this shit goes. But she's getting back in the damn line where she was to some murmuring and just going to grab her shit once she gets the chance.

And pulling some high school bully shit by trying to "accidentally" hip check her on the way off.

[ oh my god. really rude??? ana's going to be petty as hell though, and once she gathers her things, she walks up to jolyne and "accidentally" knocks into her hip right on back.

mature, these two. ]

[You know, doing that to someone who literally has been out of prison for a couple of months now isn't the best of ideas. Because she's a violent bitch and the second she gets knocked she's shifting around and dropping her stuff for the familiar that just appeared to catch.

While she's lashing out to punch whatever she can get. J O L Y N E.]

[ interesting.

ana takes the punch to her shoulder. she winces, but makes it a point to not show any fear. even if she's certainly feeling intimidated. her mother's voice echos in her head and reminds her to bow down to no one.

instead, she just smiles at the taller girl. ]

Then I'll be on my way. There's been enough trouble caused here.

[Immediately she's on the fucking boring list except to wipe that smile off her damn face the next chance she gets. But no, right now, she'll let that sink in and wait for her to make an inevitable second mistake.

How she hasn't gotten her ass in trouble for fighting with people or trying to hurt them is anyone's guess.

But, for now, she's merely glaring back down at her and heading off while being followed by her familiar like it's nothing.

...

And totally flipping her off as she goes.]

[ she'd probably feel more confident about fighting her if it weren't for her familiar. she's not foolish enough to believe that there won't be a second instance of this, and she'll need to be ready.

welp. it's off to the scriptures she goes. not only to shake off her fear, but to get back to studying those invisibility runes.

what a wonderful first day. ]

[OwO, what's this?

Lance startles a bit at the sudden collapse of a tower of books, but it's not like he's in a rush.]

Hey, don't worry about it. I don't mind the delay.

[Because it means he gets to talk to a cute girl.]

[ hhhhhh. why is this her life now. ana starts scrambling to pick up all of her books, leaving the door to her room open so she can transport them easily. ]

Please, don't mind me! Ah, I'll get these out of your way in no time.

[Talk about a cascade of suck. Nekane steps back in time so the books don't knock into them and watches Ana scramble to grab her books.]

It's fine. Here.

[They bend over to give a hand in picking up the books. They're normally not this helpful but Nekane wanted to know the titles of what she was carrying. Free information is free information and all.]

[ ah...she's so sheepish, but she allows them to help. as for book titles, most of them seem to be about runes. there's one about water manipulation, another about invisibility, and a few others pertaining to the history of runic scriptures and masters throughout the world. ]

Oh, thank you so much! I apologize for the trouble, but I am truly grateful for your help.

[Hun, another person who's looking into runes. They know this and that about them but runes have never really been their area of expertise.]

I said it's fine. Not the worst shit I've had to deal with this month.

[They'd claw out their own eyes from frustration....but they know it's particularly painful from experience so it'll just remain an expression.

[Nekane can't say they recognize her from memory.]

[ she brushes it off, and continues to stack her books on the desk inside of her dorm room. when they speak, she nods. ]

I am, in fact. I've only just arrived an hour or so ago?

[ something like that. ]

My name is Anastasia. It's a pleasure to meet you, despite my clumsiness.

[Because you got too many gotdang books.]

Hey, it's no rush. You need any help?

[He says, already leaning down to start picking up some books.]

[ rude. ]

Ah- [ well, he's already starting to help her! she pauses awkwardly and gives him a sheepish grin, gathering the last pile of books in her arms. ]

You can go ahead and leave them on the desk! You have my thanks.

[ she looks up at him and grins as she lugs her suitcase and her duffle bag into her room. ]

Are you a resident of this dorm as well?

[But is it wrong?]

It's no problem!

[Because he is super manly and tough and can carry many, many books in his noodly arms.]

And yep - on the second floor.
