[A. Early June, Lumière 3rd Floor Common Room.]

[It's not until partway through May that Imelda finally goes through with her plan. There's a very subtle change to the floor rules--just a single line removed: No music. Anyone would be forgiven for missing it on the sheet posted in the hallway, as there's no other fanfare about the change. No announcement, nothing.]

[It's not until a few days into June that Imelda gets up the nerve to make a more noticeable change to the floor. It takes her a while to pick out the right one to buy, but she can be found in the common room with a large box opened and a black pedestal with two speakers standing upright nearby. There's some wires on the ground next to her like she just dropped them there after pulling them from the box, and she's frowning intently at the paper instructions in her hands.]

[Shouldn't there be more wires? How do you put songs on it? How does this hook up to a TV? What's a 'bluetooth'? It's pretty obvious that she doesn't understand half of this.]


[B. Mid June, Aube 3rd Floor.]

((Concurrent with the last two prompts in Héctor's post.))

[It's no secret that Imelda has been visiting Aube a little more lately. Her and Héctor have been slowly getting on better terms--enough that she's even visited him a few times of her own volition. But this time is different... She's not here to visit him. He's not even present.]

[So it might be a little strange for her to be opening the door to 302 with his key--or bundling up a full set of his clothes--or leaving his room with that bundle and locking up the room again. For her part, she's trying to act casual, but it's definitely a little weird. And she might be avoiding eye contact with anyone that she passes in the hall.]


[C. Mid June, Text/IM, Close to Maverick and Akechi separately.]

Hello. I am informing you that there was an issue with our bathtub, so I've placed an out of order sign on the door. Do not attempt to use it. It will be locked.

I've arranged for us to use the bathtub in suites 201-202, as the rooms are currently unoccupied. The door to 201 will be unlocked for us. I expect the bathroom to be kept clean as if it were our own.

I will let you know when our own bathtub is available again. It should only be a few days.

"A karaoke machine? You think the kids are ready for that kind of power?"

The voice comes from behind her. There Héctor stands, cane in one hand, guitar at his back, and a grin on his face. For all the teasing he seems delighted by this development. Until he gets a look at her face.

"Uh... can you handle this? Do you need some help?"

She looks frazzled--and then flustered at being discovered. She startles at the sound of his voice, but the fact that it's only Héctor does lower the spike in her heart-rate a little.

"Don't laugh," she warns him, pointing her finger at him even as he stands there grinning at her like he's not at least partly responsible for this. Are her kids ready for this power? Probably not, but they've been mostly kind about her issues regarding this. They're good kids.

And besides, she still has reign over when they get to use it. If she gets it working at all.

At his offer of help, she sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. "I don't know. I thought this would be easier to set up." It's not like there's even a lot of pieces--she just doesn't understand a lot of these words. Music technology has come a long way in the past decade, and she's not good at technology to begin with.

He cracks a grin all over again as she points at him. He can't help it. The very act of telling him not to laugh makes it all that much harder not to do so. But to his credit, he does make an effort.

"Maybe I can take a look?" He suggests. He slips the guitar off his back and leans it against a nearby chair. He doesn't always or even often play for her, but it's become a sort of gesture to have it along while she's near, show her that he's not giving it up and so maybe ease that part of her conscience.

He moves closer to her, reaching out for that bit of paper.

[Well, as the advisor for the floor, 'Bell' couldn't help but notice this, curiosity piqued, and approaches, especially when he recognizes some of the clothing]

Can I help you...?

[she doesn't recognize this person, but being approached and spoken to was definitely not on Imelda's list of things to do here. There is currently the body of her dead husband lying on her dorm room floor, and she really needs to go deal with that and not this.]

No, I'm fine, thank you.

[If Sherlock is standing in her way, she'll attempt to step around him and keep going.]

It does help, seeing him with that guitar wherever he goes. Strange, the peace of mind it gives her. Like if he can bounce back from this, then so can she. No matter how long it takes.

But when it comes to that face he makes... She can tell he's trying not to laugh, and she's torn between amusement of her own and the frustration of the situation.

"Fine. You deal with it, then." Rather than simply hand the paper to him, she pushes it against his chest, holding it there for half a second to make sure he's got a hold of it. "I need a drink," she says as she walks off towards the kitchen area.

The whole bathroom isn't locked. Just the door to the bathtub. You'll still be able to use the sinks and the toilet.

[Reira didn't notice the floor rules, mostly because she doesn't really play music of her own..Ever. Unless bird sounds count, and those definitely don't.

Though Pepita in particular has likely heard some Very interesting bird calls at least a few times.

Regardless, Reira comes up to her floor to see...Boxes? Or, One box. And three...not so boxy things...]

There's a bit of scrambling as the paper is shoved at him. His expression goes from worried to fondly nostalgic. Never much patience, his Imelda. That was okay. He turns his smile down to the paper and opens it up to read.

By the time she comes back he'll be sitting on the floor, frowning deeply at the paper. Some of the wires have been arranged to the right places but it's clear he's gotten stuck himself.

[ Of course Minako noticed that the ban had been lifted? Was she going to make a big deal out of it? Absolutely not; but it does make it easier for her to practice her guitar, since she doesn't need to leave the dorm to do it now.

Returning to Lumiere that evening, she passes by the common room... then doubles back, leaning in to watch Imelda working away at something. She lets their RA carry on for a few minutes before walking over, a curious look on her face. ]

...Is that for us?

[ Minako knows what this is, which explains the surprise in her voice. ]

Well, I couldn't help but notice you have a pair of pants belonging to someone living on the floor I'm suppose to be supervising.

[While his face and voice still kept a neutral air, there's a slight glint of impishness in his eyes]

[She doesn't have to hear any tone in his voice to hear the accusation there. At least, she feels like one is there. That might be her own guilty conscience. There's a slight flush of embarrassment on her cheeks as she gives the man a very tight lipped frown.]

They belong to my husband. Is there a problem with that?

When she returns, it's not with one cup but with two. She walks into his view, then holds the cup down to him for him to take. If he takes a sip, it'll taste like hot coffee with a dash of tequila. Because that's the kind of afternoon it's been.

"How's that working out for you?" she asks, lifting a brow and smirking down at him with a bit of validation. See? She's not terrible at this. It's the instructions that are bad.

He blinks in surprise as the cup comes into view, then reaches out for it.

"You made me coffee?" He peers in the cup. Black, no dairy or sugar. Bitter but unlikely to cause problems. He smiles up at her and says, "Have I mentioned that you're wonderful?" He takes a sip and his eyes widen when he tastes what has been added. "Oh, wow, you really are the best."

Definitely an improvement. He takes a minute or two to simply enjoy it. Then his attention goes back to their little project. He scratches at his hair and frowns.

"Ah, well, I got a little further but I think I'm out of date on some of these terms. Like bluetooth. Is that a kind of... uh... the touchy computer thingies? Or is it more like the plug in stick floppies?"

[The voice startles Imelda--or maybe she's just jumpy at the moment. For some reason. But she turns to look at Reira, exhaling a little in what might be relief. She's young. From what Imelda could tell, she barely understood the ban in the first place--if she remembered it at all.]

It's, ah... It's a karaoke machine. Do you know what karaoke is?

Nope.

[Ah, of course.

But she's open to learn so there's that at least.] ...What is it, if the machine is going to make it?

[That's not quite how this machine works and is named, but she's got the spirit at least!]

[Imelda freezes at the sound of the voice, her shoulders stiffening. She's pretty sure her heart stopped too. Everything has stopped. Maybe time has stopped too. Maybe it won't be strange if she just stands like this for the rest of forever so that Minako doesn't have to see her face...]

[No, that's no way to react to one of her students. Okay. Okay. She can do this. She breathes again, turning to look back at the girl with her expression fixed into something neutral.]

It's... for the floor, yes. Is there a problem with that?
