Outside the Savant Apartments and room 107

[If you're outside and near the apartments around 2-3pm, you'll catch sight of a Ulysses Butterfly fluttering around, almost looking as if it's searching for help.

Coming close enough will cause the butterfly - which is almost faintly glowing, and certainly feels magical - to fly over and tug on the nearest item of clothing on you, apparently trying to get you to follow it inside the Faculty apartments.

Will you follow it inside?]

Campus grounds

[Those who are eagle-eyed enough might have noticed the older looking man who's wandering on campus - he did show up briefly on the 12th, though he didn't wander. Today, though - around 5 or 6pm - he's clearly walking around, taking in the sights with those sharp blue eyes of his.

Coming close will have him give a friendly smile, and extend his hand out in a greeting.]

Hello! A pleasure meeting you - I am James Moriarty, the new Mathematics Professor. Might I learn your name?

Hello! Allow me to introduce myself - I am your recently hired Mathematics Professor, James Moriarty! I will be teaching class in the fall, from elementary math to college-grade. I also have some qualifications in Astronomy, though I won't be teaching that - but if you need someone to look at the stars for a bit, I suppose I wouldn't mind assisting! :)

I will also be available for help or tutoring if students need - though I merely ask you schedule at least 24 hours in advance in order to make sure there are no scheduling conflicts.

Speaking of Schedules, I am not a morning person - thus, all classes will most likely be in the afternoon or night, and on breaks, I will most likely be asleep until noon. I ask for your understanding in this.

My faculty apartment is 107, if you ever have any need to see me in person, and I will post my office hours after I have fully plotted out my class periods.

I look forward to this next school year!

Locked to Sherlock - night of the 13th

[Surely, he must have seen the network post - a James Moriarty, teaching Mathematics and having knowledge of Astronomy? It could be a massive coincidence, but...

His office has been fully moved into, things in their places - and the door is locked, lights off. No one's in this wing of the college, and though it seems empty and devoid of life...

...Why does it feel like someone's watching...?]

[The vampire frowns as he read over the network post, it seem like a coincidence, neither 'James' or 'Moriarty' are that rare of names, but too many things are familiar, but after his recent brush with the past, he can't let things be.

With a quiet ease, he approaches the office, searching to make certain no one saw him before he dematerializes into mist to slip inside - to put his mind at ease, if nothing else]

[He can easily do that - and at first glance, it seems as if it really is just a normal room, though more austerely styled...less modern, and more what you'd assume a Victorian college office would look like. There is also a desk, with what looks like an open drawer.

However, when he reforms - he'll suddenly be hit with the feeling of spider silk all over his body, as if he'd somehow stepped face first into an unseen web.

How odd...]

Mathematics!? Really!? Are there any extra classes besides the usual math ones that I could take and use as a replacement for other subjects that I'm absolutely going to fail in, you know like stuff on number theory or astrophysics or anything supposedly really hard!? Can I swap those out for history of whatever and Latin and like gym!? Oh, I'm Toki! This is Marcel!

[Toki grabs Moriarty's hand to shake, gesturing to the guard standing behind him. Marcel gives a slight nod, but stays out of the conversation; his only purpose here is to hold the leash attached to Toki's yellow cat backpack.]

He's my personal, uhh... assistant! Anyway, so yes or no, will that work?

[He blanches at the sudden sensation, as his fingers reaches up, going to pull off the silk that he cannot see. A magic snare? He wondered as he waited for a few moments after he freed himself from the sensation of being wrapped in it. Once it seems like nothing is happening, he carefully peers into the draw, drawing a pen from his jacket's pocket, suspecting the open drawer was bait]

BUTTERFLY

[Shiro, initially, does not see the butterfly. He's too busy sussing out where he's going to hold classes, since obviously a normal classroom won't work out most of the time.

Kuro, however, notices the butterfly right away, and begins pawing at it and chasing it. That is what gets Shiro's attention. He ends up smiling as he watches Kuro's attempts for a few seconds, though eventually he is going to speak up:]

C'mon, aren't you a mighty hunter?

[Yep. He's totally encouraging his cat to chase the butterfly. Run for your life, or fly I guess.]

Does that mean if they are not blue, it's a bad thing?

[This is Definitely not the reception he'd expected to get - and after a moment of wide-eyed blinking, he recovers enough to give the boy a firm handshake.]

Hahaha, slow down for a moment! I'm more than happy to have you fill up on electives using my classes, but I'm unsure if swapping will work!

The butterfly immediately tries to make a break for it, fluttering back towards the faculty housing with all of it's might, as if trying to escape.

...Or maybe it's still leading, but with more panic involved now.]

Why would someone be worried about butterflies anyway?

[Peering inside will only reveal a single key, as if it was for the locked drawer below. Reaching in for it will not trigger anything, either.

Still, after freeing himself - the threads still come back and stick on him, over and over. It seems as if they're made to do that whenever someone enters uninvited, as almost invisible as they are.]

Well, this is a campus where the supernatural exists. And while it doesn't hurt me in the slightest for them to be destroyed, it's better to curtail any potential rumors or panic.

the apartment

[The butterfly catches his attention, but more important it catches Stool and Rumpadump's attention. The two mushrooms are immediately enamored with the butterfly, and it's at their insistence that the daemon follows it into the apartments. He's pretty sure entering someone's home is largely frowned upon by humans, but he can't exactly say no to his charges.

The mushrooms - about a foot high - toddle in after the butterfly, with Hieke following. When he notices the apartments is occupied, he freezes.]

Does that mean they're not alive-butterflies, and just look like butterflies?

[He has to stop to brush it off, but realizing it was futile, but he might as well take the key, and opening the drawer, increasingly feeling like this was a set up, he might as well find something of interest before leaving]

[Toki considers that for a moment, but he's not entirely sure what electives are.]

Aren't electives optional? Why would I take anything I didn't have to? Anyway!

[His attempt at a conspiratorial whisper follows, but it's a pointless effort with Marcel right there.]

In a manner of speaking, I suppose you could call them Psuedo-Familiars? They come from my own magic, and function more as reminders or helpers when they're needed.

But yes, they are basically illusions in the shape of butterflies - or more like fragments of magic? Hmm...I've never really had to think about it much before, haha! :)

[The butterfly might be escape-leading, but both cat and man are definitely following! Or rather, the cat is following the butterfly and the man is following the cat.

He might also have his phone out to record Kuro's pounces and attempts at catching this butterfly. Because that's the kind of person he is. He'll barely even notice it when they eventually reach 107.]

I guess that would have been very strange if I didn't know they were your butterflies. Normal ones have feelings, but maybe these ones don't then?

Written on it, simply, in handwriting he can't identify, is-]

[It's fine - as there seems to be grunting coming from 107, with the form of an older looking man trying to shuffle a heavy-looking couch into the apartment by himself.]

Hr....rrrgh....

[The butterfly that had attracted the mushroom's attention quickly flutters over, landing on the old man's shoulder and flapping it's wings - before bursting into a flash of blue and fading away.

Mission complete.]

[He immediately closes and locks the drawer - putting the key back in the exact same place, if his heart still beat, he would've felt it jumping right into his throat. It felt like the third time he broke into Moriarty's office, when he was still alive, the feeling the man had finally caught onto him.

And someone has seen him, once he sets everything to look like how it was when he came in, he immediately went into mist, the spider silk falling as he slips out and away, staying in form and spreading himself out to be barely visible before he reforms near Aube form.

He had no idea who saw him, or how they managed to do it without his keen senses noticing, he needs to come up with an answer if he's called on it. He puts on a neutral expression, his body language nothing out of the ordinary as he started back to his room to think]

[Honestly, that doesn't sound that weird, from what he's read about the supernatural - and honestly, he's had meaner things said (and yelled, and screamed) at him in his life.]

Either way, it only takes a little bit before it finally manages to flutter into the open door of 107 - where the sound of an older man grunting can be heard, as if he's trying to move around something particularly heavy.]
