What: Post mission recovery, post mission blues, and apparently, Postmates.
Warnings: It seems almost mandatory that every Puella log contains sad now



A - Thawing Out (Infirmary, Aug 21st)

[Nothing about it was very serious anymore, but it didn't hurt to be cautious at any rate. Ice magic at that caliber was no joke, and the last thing needed was a rebound because no one had been supervising her.]

[Despite it still being summer, Puella was under at least three blankets, had a heat pad going, and somehow was still feeling a bit cold and shivering occasionally. It kept her in bed and easy to check on at least, but it was far from pleasant. And yet somehow it could've been far worse.]

[The most Puella could do was try to sleep it off and wait for her body heat to come back, but she was also open to guests that wanted to try to cheer her up. There was...plenty of that needed too, given everything else that happened.]

[At a later part of day one visitor did make their way to peek into Puella's room for a few minutes. They did not really say anything though. Did they actually go to this school? Were they even human for that matter? They looked almost like an oversized plush doll than another kid...]

[Of course, they quickly tried to dash off the moment someone else approached anyway.]


B - The Waiting Game (Lum Floor 1, Aug 22nd and onwards)

[Very rarely does Puella try to find Ekkehardt at his room, or even try to go in there for that matter, but she stay right at the door wanting to go in. Alas, it seemed to be lock for the time being. Maybe because it'll help in recover faster, or maybe so his casket won't get vandalized anymore.]

[Regardless of the reason, Puella tried giving the door a tug and no use. Not that she tried very hard at all, but it was obvious it wasn't going to open up any time soon. Or maybe she just didn't actually want to see what was inside. ...So she paced around the door instead. Maybe, just maybe, if she stayed around long enough Ekkehardt would open it on his own and come out. And...]

[...No, it wouldn't be that easy. She saw what happened to him, and it wasn't pretty. How exactly was he supposed to come back from that?]

Ekke..? [She asked too softly for anyone to hear. No reply. She glanced down at the floor with her vision starting to blur.]

[Puella found a sofa available in the common room to curl up on. She...needed a moment. None of this would've happened if she hadn't been so careless.]


C - Delivered in 30 Minutes or Free (Campus, Anytime)

[As the start of the school year got closer, Kit was beginning to make himself a little more known around the academy. Not because he really wanted to, mind you, his English and French was horribly broken so there was barely anyone to communicate with. And there was still...his over all appearance not fitting in to worry about as well. But the trips were quick, faster still because he was nervous about being seen, which worked out well in a way since he always did get everything delivered on time.]

[So whenever he was seen, he was always carrying something. A coffee here, takeout there, way too many energy drinks everywhere - all of which seemed to go into one of two directions: Avery's apartment or his office.]

[Come to think of it, that dark purple cloak and aesthetic kind of matched with Avery's too. ...Weird.]


D - Wildcard

[He laughs a little.]

Si, mija. You don't have anywhere to go tomorrow. You should get rest, but I know you've been doing a lot of that. And I know things are hard right now.

[In that case, staying up it is. She positioned herself to sit more upright, despite the fact she does lose a bit of warm air that way.]

It's hard to do anything...

[She's not so sure how much longer she can take this.]

[It's not really Toki's fault that he got the vision late. And there was maybe some logic that he if had tried to prevent it something worse could have happened. The fact he already knew Puella was going to freeze at all...maybe it was somehow fated to happen.]

[Wait, could that also mean--] Did you see anything else?

[She leaned forward with interest, even if it was making her a bit colder. She had to know if he saw anyone else.]

Just the shadow woman, and when you were... frozen, there were others with you. They weren't frozen though, and I couldn't see them clearly. There was a painting on a wall, like a portrait, and I knew the man in it, but I don't know from where and I can't remember what it looked like now.

[It was Avery, before.]

I guess that's not very helpful, especially after the fact.

I know. You just have to take it easy a while longer.

[That's the trouble with needing to recover. He doesn't miss it.]

I brought some books. I don't what you like so I grabbed a few. And I brought my guitar. I could play it quietly.

[As soon as Kit noticed he was going too far ahead he starts to wait for Desidera to catch up, while also staying alert in case anyone else show up. There was still quite a ways to go.]

[Once they made it to the Savant dorms he slowed down a bit. There was few people that came all the way over here, safe for the occasional faculty, so it felt safer for Kit to roam around. That and Avery's room was basically right there.]

[He got the door open and checked around inside first before letting Desidera in. It's all good!]

...So nothing about Ekke. [That is probably good. Or possibly even worse. Ekkehardt was never supposed to hurt himself and yet this was the only outcome in which he did. The one where Puella was almost frozen by being too reckless...]

[Why oh why did she do that? ...Of course she knew why, but was it really as heroic as it was meant to be? It didn't feel like she prevented anything.]

[yokeye]

Ekke? Ekkehardt? No...

[He doesn't think she'd ask unless something had happened. He's freaking out internally; he hadn't heard anything about Ekkehardt, but also hadn't seen him.]

H-he's not dead, right?

[hattersgonnahat]

... [Oh. So he didn't know.]

[Puella kept her head down low.] ...I don't know. They said he should be fine, but he's...

[Well he's already dead. But can something normally die again if they're already dead?]

[Following Kit into the room, Desi glanced around out of mild curiosity before looking to see where he would want the box to be placed. Once told where to put it, she set it down gently, having assumed this entire time that it might be something fragile.]

And there.

[She turned her attention away from the box and back to Kit.]

Was that the only one, or are there more?

[yokeye]

[Why would he see Puella and not Ekkehardt if they were both there and both were hurt? He tries to remember anything else in the shadow woman visions, not just Puella's, but there's nothing that he can connect to Ekkehardt.]

I'm... I'm sure he'll be fine.

[His voice cracks. He doesn't know Ekkehardt's a lich, and he wants to go find Hieke right now and see what happened to him. But he'll wait, because Puella sounds worried. Toki fingers the ribbon he has wrapped around his wrist. It's one of Ekkehardt's. He closes his eyes for a moment, and his next assurance sounds more confident.]

He'll be okay. Don't worry.

[hattersgonnahat]

[This was truly the warmest hug Puella had ever gotten. It actually managed to starve off all the cold as long as she was in there, which might've been a first in the last few days. She would be happy to be here forever.]

...I just want him to come back. [If it was fine to let it all out, then she will. Apparently Grimm might be converted into an over sized tissue box by the time this was done.]

[Reading might've not been her first pick, but it was something she could do while in bed. She would have to see what kind of books Héctor managed to bring at any rate - which did mean leaving the blankets just a little more to study them, but it's fine, it's only for just a few seconds.]

What's that one? [Puella places her hand on one that looked like had stars on the cover. Because of course she would be attracted to that one most.]

[He laughs softly. Drawn to stars of course.]

Zoo In The Sky. It's about some of the constellations of earth. The animals that make it up. It's a little young but I thought you might like it anyway.

--It is? [Of course, she did already know a few of them now thanks to taking some astrology classes on the side. And there was that star map of the Outlands now too...]

[She does kind of wonder how many are in the book. And if by chance, how many more she hadn't known about yet.]

[Puella picked the book up to see the cover better.] It looks like the books I used to have read to me. [By parents, elementary teachers. Not necessarily the subject matter but the art style still felt the same.]

[That's promising news.]

Would you like me to read it to you, now? I'll try not to mess it up with my accent too much.

[It had been awhile since anyone had read a story to her. She didn't really need it anymore. However...this didn't sound all too bad.]

[Besides, it'll give her time to stay warm and cozy and still entertained. At least for a little while.]

Do it! [Hands the book back to him.]

[It's difficult to say anything about that. Maybe had Ekkehardt been hurt in any other way, but people just don't normally recover from blowing up. But Toki doesn't seem to be taking it that well either...so she shouldn't make him worry even more.]

[That's probably the right, healthy thing to do.] Y..yeah...

[Maybe shouldn't let him know that she thinks she's the one that got him killed in the first place.]

[He attempts to sound a little more cheerful, like this is a normal situation.]

Well, I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I have to go, but maybe I'll come back later.

[He gives her a little wave and tries not to leave in too much of a hurry, but he really needs to know what happened to Ekkehardt.]

[Grimm doesn't mind. It is not like he did not do the same when he first spoke to his predecessor about exactly why he lived on the streets rather then with his family.]

I know Puella. I know.

[He gently continues to hold her, shifting only once so it was a little more comfortable.]

But I do not believe it is his time yet. And I know he would not want to leave you upset like this. No, he will come back. I believe in him.

[She pulled her head a little ways away after some more sniffles. What Grimm said was probably true, or at least most of it.]

No, he wouldn't want that... [Ekkehardt would want her to be happy, regardless. She knows this. But this stuff was hard right now.]

He wouldn't give up either...

[He was...Also her caretaker at the moment too. Puella just realized, sooner or later her parents will have to know what happened.]

[...Possibly all of it. If they haven't been informed already.]

[Perhaps it does have to do with his immortality and role as the leader of the Grimm Troupe. Death has surrounded both Grimm and Alderic for as long as he could remember. The acceptance and impact was a little less because he knew well that all life ends, even the life of the immortal.

But for a child, it was different.]

No he would not. If he didn't, I would go and have...words with him. Quite a few words.

[Not very nice words at that. Or go find his dreams.]

Besides, he knows not to worry others.

[Puella looked up at him for a few seconds. Something about that statement confused her.] How could you talk to him if he's gone?

Simple. I will find whatever soul still lingers and haunt it until the day it completely vanishes.

[Grimm says this completely seriously. Some souls do indeed still dream and the Nightmare King can get at it. Ekkehardt would have a very interesting afterlife in that case.]

I did know him when he was younger, after all. There would be quite a number of things I could say.
