It hurts to look at. And yet, when he hears Peter's reaction, he can't help but laugh. It surprises himself.

"You didn't ruin music for me," He assures. "This isn't the first guitar that's been through the wringer. And as far as everything else, none of that was you either."

That was his own stupidity, his family's grief, and Ernesto's dumb and selfish ego.

"No... I fished this girl out of the trash. My last guitar before her? She got caught pretty badly the wheel compartment of a plane." He smiles up at Peter hoping that, if nothing else, the story can distract him from the situation. "So don't worry about it. These things happen."
