That does make sense, he wants to say. That makes sense, because well, he certainly isn't Italian, and who knows where anyone is ever from these days, it feels like everyone is moving everywhere and it doesn't especially seem to matter until you're born somewhere now.
And part of him wants to say that Dio would no doubt have not been a very good father- a thought that he might have questioned, if he had known about the circumstances of Dio's own upbringing perhaps (because ultimately he's always wanted to see the Good in people, it's what got him here to begin with)- but undoubtedly Dio would not have been a good father in the slightest, so that would already have been poor family if Giorno Had known the man.
It occurs to him that perhaps the sort of women Dio preferred wouldn't make good mothers either. Or at least not kind ones.
But the thoughts of would be families and unfortunate circumstances aside, the bat's thumbs figet against the other, his head barely keeping from ducking as he braces for any possible rejection- only to be met with otherwise.
And while Giorno cannot cry, Jonathan at least can. "Oh..." Whether for the returned offer, for the realization of what Giorno's words mean in full, or... "I..."
...
He clears his throat. "I- Thank you, Giorno. I certainly do not intend to let you down in that regard! ...I cannot say I entirely know what would be best, but at the very least I believe getting to know the other is at least a good start. I certainly feel that it's helping to connect with Jolyne at least," he adds, looking back up at the girl for a second.
Is this a joke? A partial joke? It's a mystery, truly. As it is, he moves to try and get a bit closer to Giorno. "If there is anything you wish to talk to me about as well, I am all ears- and these ones are quite good at hearing!" he adds as another little gag.
