IT'S TIME FOR CHOCOLATE

What: Vivi wants to make chocolates with faculty supervision. Everyone's invited.
When: February 7th to February 15th!
Where: Some repurposed rooms on campus.
Warnings: I don't know it's chocolate. I guess if anything comes up I'll change it?

1. Advertisement

In the days leading up to the 7th, people might see Vivi sticking up posters advertising a chocolate workshop. While this particular activity isn't new to anyone who's been at the school around February before, he's clearly excited about it.

...They're handmade. While he understands computers fairly well, he hasn't considered using them for graphic design yet.

2. THE MAIN EVENT

Vivi is up bright and early to help with preparing the workshop. While he's a little too inexperienced to know what he's doing, the staff setting it up are indulgent enough to let him hang around and follow like a lost duckling, peering curiously at everything.

Boxes, bowls and shakers of ingredients (with some contained in special equipment, for the more lively toppings) are set out on tables along with selections of chocolate, and several stations of equipment for melting, pouring and preparing chocolate in any way you can think of are trundled out to fill the rooms. There's even a packing station, in case you want to wrap and package your chocolates as soon as they're done.

When it's all set up, Vivi doesn't waste any time bringing out his notebooks and getting to work. Depending on what day (and what time of day) you come in, you can catch Vivi doing anything from mixing to tempering to decorating, utterly engrossed in what seems to be some very important work for him. However, he seems to have taken saying hello to anyone who comes in as his solemn duty, so everyone who walks in will get an enthusiastic greeting, even if he's in the middle of something else.

There might be an accident or two because of this but it's fine.

2 — Saturday, February 8th, morning; OTA (except Gunvolt), Vivi's OK

On the morning of the 8th, Desidera is among the first to show up. With it being a Saturday, she's already expected to be out, though it would be for one of her thrice-a-week practice sessions, and she even had dressed as if she were still planning on that, so chances are Gunvolt doesn't suspect anything. But, today, she's foregoing her usual morning routine to give this all a try. For reasons.

She stops at one of the tables and looks everything over, wondering how she should start.

"Oh! Desi! Hi!" Vivi is in the middle of mixing something or other, but he shoves it aside to run up to her while she's scouting out everything. "Are you gonna make some chocolate?"

She is dressed like she's going for combat training, after all! Maybe she just stopped by, is his logic.

She turns to face toward him when he runs over.

"I was hoping to, yes. Though, ah, GV thinks I'm at the Cage right now, so could you make sure not to tell him I've been here?"

He blinks, turning this over in his mind for a moment. Then he nods, enthusiastically. "Okay! I'll keep it a secret." Clearly this is some kind of Special Friend Surprise.

"What are you gonna make? Can I help?"

2 — any day during the event, before 3 PM; OTA, Vivi's OK

Becky's in and out multiple times in the morning and afternoon, throughout the whole week.

A majority of that time is spent actually working on making chocolates, though she is deliberately avoiding using any of the darker kinds. What she does make are a bunch of flat, disc-shaped chocolates, sandwiched together with a thin layer of peanut butter between them, and various engraved patterns or gradients of colored sprinkles on top. She could probably try for something a little more complex than that if she really wanted to, but would rather just keep things simple for now.

The remainder of that time is spent just...being there.

Yes, Hieke is there and that means she doesn't need to do this, but sticking around in case of any mishaps is kind of a habit. On each day, though, she does eventually leave for her usual volunteer work, even if it feels a bit less necessary for her to do so than it did before.

[Weiss is standing in front of a bowl, ingredients spread out before her. She looks down at them, pauses, and announces:]

I... have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing.

[Puella wanted to help out with the chocolate as much as she could - that is what roommates are for! (well no, not really, but...) She even made a couple of signs of her own and helped spread the word through other means. Chocolate was great, and especially around this time of year, really fun to make.]

[Thankfully she learned her lesson from last year. It turns out, there was some things that don't go with chocolate, so no more vegetables and other weird foods were being dipped into the fountain. But there were a few odd things. Like crackers. Anything that was salty but didn't distract too far from the sweet taste. Other than that, did you know that chocolate coated cake and brownie bits were amazing?]

[She hasn't decided yet what kinds of boxes she wants to make for others yet. At some point, she will need to check out what packaging and decorating there was still available.]

[ During the middle of Puella's experiments, Vivi wanders over to see what his roommate is doing with all that chocolate. ]

...You should dip the gummies in it and then put it on the cake. They have a weird texture so it's fun! [ He's just going to encourage it, apparently. ]

Ohhh, you're right! [That is an amazing idea. Clearly Vivi is learning some new things beyond her help!]

[And it was a perfect thing to use all these gummies on. She might've gathered up more than what she actually needed.]

Did you want to try one? [There should've been a few that finally hardened by now. If he wants. Or wait for a gummie cake to finish.]

Sure! [ Vivi's always happy to try something new. He picks up one that he thinks has dried enough and takes a bite out of it. ]

It's good! Really sweet...but it's good! [ He's not sure how much he likes Very Sweet Things but he's not sure how much he dislikes it, either. ]

[Much less Puella, Desco isn't sure what she wants to make. There's a lot of things in front of her, though, so it seems like she's been experimenting. Chocolate pops, chocolate bars, bon-bons, and more are littered in front of her. Yet she still doesn't seem satisfied with any of them. She wants her friends to have the nicest things, because that's what Valentine's Day means to her.

Also she wants to send her family some nice things, too. Finally, after musing on it for a few moments, she looks around the table until she spots Puella's works.]

Oooo. You got really creative with yours!

Hmm, sorta. All I did was try a bit of everything. [And she does mean everything.]

But I keep the stuff that work best!

[GV had seen Vivi's hand-done fliers about chocolate making, and upon the first time of seeing one, he made it a point to make sure he could make it. There were a lot of people he'd want to show appreciation to, even if it wasn't romantically inclined for all but one of them.

That one, though, he had to make sure he could surprise as best as he could, though. So, he carefully found an excuse to go to the Anvil, to do some engineering work, and then slipped over to Vivi's chocolate making party. Monarch's AI core fluttered behind his shoulder, projecting her hologram self in front of GV, with her floating backward as he walked forward.

Monarch, as usual, is sporting something of a teasing smile, and as much as her hologram form allows, there's a bit of impishness in her eyes, contrasting Gunvolt's normally stoic and serious demeanor.]

You know, that wasn't a very good story you gave her. She probably will figure it out pretty fast.

Doesn't matter if she does or doesn't. I'd like it to be a surprise, but it's more important that I do it in the first place.

[Once inside, he makes his way over to one of the tables, and looks over the recipe and the ingredients in front of him. Monarch looked at the recipe over his shoulder.]

Doesn't look too hard...

...Do you remember what happened the last time you said that and tried baking?

[Gunvolt shot the hologram Monarch a toothless glare, to which she just smirked. There was probably a story there, but he refused to acknowledge much of it, clearly.]

Just gotta remember baking's more of a science than cooking this time. Everyone makes mistakes the first time. Let's see....

[Gunvolt will then set to work, actually deftly handling the task of making chocolate. He may, at some point, stop and look over to your station.]

Hey, do you have any of that mint extract over there? Think I'm out.

I believe so... ah! There you go.

[She hands him two bottles, one nearly empty and one almost full.]

The full one is sugar-free, but surely it can be compensated.

[He takes both bottles, and briefly looks them over in his hands. Sugar-free extract.... how would he even begin to compensate for that? Well, there had to be a way. Thankfully, he already had an idea.]

[GV looked over his shoulder at the hovering hologram of a girl wearing an idol outfit with large orange and black butterfly wings.]

Hey Monarch, can you search what I'm going to need to add to the sugar-free extract to make it like normal?

I'm not a search engine, you know! ...But just give me a minute, I'll figure it out for you.

[For that moment, the hologram appeared to hang briefly. But Gunvolt turned back to Kokoro.]

Didn't think I'd see you here. I didn't figure making chocolate was a thing you would be really interested in.

Oh, are you making mint chocolate cookies? Those should be good.

[Ren hands over the extract. He's not actually writing down the instructions but it seems like he's trying to commit some recipes to memory.]

Thanks, man! That's the plan. People seem to like the combination, so... I figure it might be worth a shot. ...If I can get it to come together.

[This recipe looked a little tougher than the others he's tried so far, but if he didn't try, he wouldn't get better.

...And it'd be nice to give these to his friends.]

[Desco is strolling through the halls, having just gotten out of her last class, when she spots Vivi out of the corner of her eye. Just as she's about to say hi, she takes a step forward and hears a crinkling sound. Looking down at her feet, she spots some sort of flyer? After picking it up and looking at it, she notices it's the same kind as the ones Vivi is putting up. So she hurries after him.]

Vivi, Desco noticed you dropped this. Would you like some help?

[Judging by the big smile on her face, it seems like she'd be happy to help.]

Oh! Thanks, Desco! [ His eyes crinkle up into happy slits. He'd missed Desco, so he's happy to see her back again. ]

I'm trying to do it myself, but it's tough...Are you okay with helping, though? I don't wanna bother you or anything.

[ He reaches up on his tiptoes to painstakingly stick up another flyer. Not being very tall isn't helping. ]

It's no bother! Desco thinks she heard Mr. Atchison call stuff like this gruntwork, but that just means she should learn how to do it for herself. That way when Desco gets grunts of her own, she can show them all how it's done and they can be impressed!

[Sage nod. She rocks back and forth on her heels somewhat sheepishly, however, before she adds this next bit.]

Besides, Vivi is Desco's friend and so it's only right that Desco help! Just give her some fliers and watch her work!

[Even if they haven't talked too much, Vivi is a cool dude and that alone is worthy of The Great Desco's help.]

I see you've volunteered to help... hm, need any help with the posters in higher spots?

Oh... [ He looks up a bit at the places he very conspicuously can't reach. ] Um, if that's okay!

I wish I could fly...or I was tall. That would make things a lot easier... [ He sighs, wistfully, but he offers a bunch of posters to Sherlock regardless with a hopeful look. ]
