[open post for March]
Who: Desidera and anyone
What: The usual training sessions (A), getting back to looking into certain things (B), ??? (C)
Where: The Mythril Cage (A), Hall of Pythia (B), wherever (C)
When: On the usual mornings (A), March 15th onward (B), whenever (C)
Warnings: There shouldn't be anything major.
A (Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday mornings, Mythril Cage, open)
[As has been normal for a majority of the time she's spent at the academy, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings before going to her classes, Desidera can be found at the Mythril Cage, practicing what she knows, though at this point it's mostly to be sure that she doesn't fall out of practice. She does experiment with some new ideas as well during this time, taking control of shadows and using them in ways that she hasn't particularly tried before; constructs that she hasn't attempted to use before, occasional variations on things she has used to see how well she can adapt those things to other situations, and sometimes even imitations of things that she's seen other students do or use.
Occasionally, instead of anything new, she returns to trying things that she attempted before but had abandoned for whatever reason, such as using her power to bolster the magic that her mother had taught her. She'd done this before in a few actual fights, but only when she needed to hit as hard as she possibly could, because it was otherwise thought to be a huge risk at that time. Perhaps it's still a risk to try it now, but seeing that she's gone through several months of these practice sessions without there being some kind of incident (though, fortunately, that last incident had only been a near-miss), she's feeling confident that she can handle it.]
B (various days from March 15 onward, Hall of Pythia, open)
[On some days throughout the latter half of the month, Desidera can be found at the library, still with the same book that Valvatorez had gotten for her this past December. She had been slowly making her way through its contents (re-reading each section as she went to be sure she understood it as well as she could), but had recently put it on hold due to some other things that kept coming up, and it wasn't until an unusual encounter during a somewhat-recent outing that she decided that she needed to find (or make) some time to get back to it.
Along with the book itself, she has with her a notepad that has various things scribbled onto it, and anyone that happens to be close enough and able to read her handwriting might be able to make out parts of it.
twists words, contractor never directly benefits (not a surprise)
tends to affect someone related to the contractor instead
doesn't usually seem to want anything in return? (this is weird)
shadow powers
Desi is pretty engrossed in what she's doing here, to the point that she doesn't particularly notice if anyone does draw near.]
C (wildcard)
[Want to just wing it? Go for it, most of you know what places she can be found in by now. If you want to work out anything specific, hit me up on Plurk or Discord, or PM Desi's journal.]

Plus if they ever work together on a mission, it would be a good idea to know what the other girl is capable of. Eventually, though she gets tired of that. She's come a long way, but her patience could still use some work.]
Miss Desidera! You and Desco should spar together!
no subject
Until more-recently, she hadn't actually seen Desco around much, and not seeing the girl after the incident had ended up causing the whole thing to stick in her mind for awhile as a reminder that for someone like her, keeping everything under control was an absolute necessity.
So it's probably understandable that she's feeling just a little apprehensive.]
Are you sure? [There's also the question of why Desco is out here at such an early time herself, but that's a question that might find itself answered before Desi can think to ask it.]
no subject
[If nothing else, she seems really fired up about this. Desco's always taken her classes 110% seriously and Prof. Valvatorez's class are no exception to that rule. But it's not just classes; training, too. Desidera might have noticed as much during their shared classes. Why this is the case isn't exactly known, but it doesn't take much to realize that nothing will change her mind about this.
Of course, a no will make her stop. She's not going to force anyone to do something they don't want to do.]
no subject
Seeing that Desco was apparently not concerned with what had (almost) happened before, this...should probably be fine.]
Well, alright. How do you want to do this? [In some effort to lessen the chances of anything going wrong here, she thinks it's better to let Desco set the rules, if they're going to have any rules at all beyond any obvious, common-sense things.]
no subject
[She deflates a little at that, having not fully thought this through. Though a few seconds later her energy returns and along with it a renewed purpose. She cheerily announces:]
Wait, no! Desco has an idea! How about whoever lands five decisive attacks is the winner?
no subject
[Desi starts stepping back to get some distance before they begin.]
Do you want to count down to when we start, or should I? [Either way is fine by her.]
no subject
[With that in mind, she should probably focus more on restraint than general offense? Her and Octy are pretty tough, but Desi is pretty tough, too. Maybe she should play it by ear and then go from there.]
You can count. Desco trusts you!

Is that magic homework?
no subject
Ah? Oh, no, no, this is some personal stuff that I've been meaning to look into. I haven't had too many good opportunities for any of it until just recently.

This book is one of the things that Professor Valvatorez got for me a few months ago. [One of the things he'd gifted her for Christmas.] It's a collection of notes and other things about a daemon that he thinks might be the one responsible for why I'm like this.
I'm used to everything since I've been this way for my entire life, but I'd still like to find out the how or why of it, if I can.

[It sounds a bit direct, but it wasn't too long ago she was down the research hole for "personal matters" herself, and her answer to that last week was "kill Dracula," so by this point sensible questions may have gone out the window.]

It's true that what happened made it impossible for her to really have any kind of life before Daybreak, thanks largely to the Veil but also in part due to her mother fearing for her safety, but since coming here she's found herself largely benefiting from it; it's given her the ability to help people in ways that some others can't. She doesn't see any need to try to take revenge for it or anything.
Nor does she desire to seek them out to try to have them take back what had been given.]
And if I were to try to have it undone, I don't think I'd be the same person anymore. I don't think I can do that. [Not to her friends, and definitely not to Gunvolt or Monarch.]

[pause]
Wait. Seventeen? Aren't you -- [She counts on her fingers.] Did you get held back a grade?

The last time we talked for more than just a few minutes— [A phone call a few months back, one that GV and Monarch both had joined her in.] —she made it clear that she regrets doing it at all, but I'm okay with it, I don't— I can't hold any of it against her now. [If it hadn't happened to begin with, would she be here at the academy now?]
