A. Infirmary

[ Due to recent events, Ekkehardt has been securing more supplies than usual, and is in the middle of sorting out bags and boxes of extra inventory. Paper is everywhere, but in neat piles, and this will continue throughout the month as he receives all sorts of interesting supplies and instruments.

If you need his attention, however, he'll gladly drop what he's doing to consult or treat you, whatever you need.

And if you just want to ask about what he's packing away at the moment? He's open to questions. ]

B. Chapel

[ Some mornings, you might hear the sound of someone playing the organ as you walk past Daybreak's nondenominational chapel. Other times, you might hear someone singing, in a language that sounds more suited for the Outlands than Earth.

If you happen to investigate, it's likely you'll find Ekkehardt there, taking advantage of the chapel's acoustics. He doesn't seem to mind an audience, though it's inevitable that he'll give you his full scrutiny eventually - though vastly more out of curiosity than accusation. ]

Infirmary

[Alastor hates this, but...he was told to follow up Ekkehardt about his injuries from that monster, and with his regeneration nixed like this, well. He can't just blow it off. So into the infirmary he goes, disguised sword cane clicking lightly against the floor as he actually uses it as a support.]

Hey, I was, uh...told to follow up here about some wounds I got on my last mission.

Alastor, yes? Come in and sit down.

[ He looks up from his paperwork and pushes it aside, noting the slight lean on the cane. ]

How are you feeling? Are your injuries affecting your quality of life significantly?

[Puella was likely brought here not because she wanted to, but because she should. As soon they returned back from the Outlands. (There was probably a certain ring that needed recharging too)]

[Once she was fed and hydrated, she practically faceplanted on an available bed and hasn't woken up since. It wasn't as comfortable or personal as her dorm bed, but damn it felt good just to rest somewhere.]

[ He checks Puella over (and takes the opportunity to recharge the ring, in the meantime). She doesn't need any special medical treatment, thankfully, just rest, so he's content to let her sleep as long as she needs to.

He does put an additional blanket over her, though, just to make things a bit cosier, and then goes back to work. ]

[ after returning from the outlands...flat was, physically, alright. he healed much faster than the rest of the team, with very little dehydration or exhaustion to speak of. and aside from a few scares, he was fine!

and yet there was a feeling that he couldn't shake off, like a cloud that loomed over his head and that he couldn't dispel, no matter what. he thought it was sleepiness at first, but as the days passed, flat quickly realized that such was not the problem.

however, he does his best not to show any of that when he pops by the infirmary--at ekkehardt's request, that is. he peeks into the room, as smile as bright as the sun itself...though perhaps a bit forced. ]

Professor! You wanted to see me?

Ah, Flat. [ He offers a slight smile in return. ] Yes, I did.

I wanted to know how you've been lately, after all that- if you've been feeling strange in any way, for example. Anything out of the ordinary.

[It's not directly after the rescue mission, but a few days later that an unexpected visitor drops by the infirmary--for the first and hopefully last time. It goes without saying that he's uncomfortable with anything remotely resembling a doctor's office, even in spirit. But... desperate times.]

< Hi. Do you, uh, have a minute? >

If you have a problem, I have as much time as is necessary to address it. [ He pushes a stack of paperwork to the side. ]

How can I assist you...Tobias, wasn't it? [ He hasn't seen much of this student. Whether it's because he's not a veterinarian or Tobias is like most people who don't enjoy getting checkups...well. ]

[Ammy enters the infirmary, still with a bit of a limp. She smiles when she spots Ekkehardt and walks over.]

Hello, I'm here for my follow-up. The on-site medics did their best, but I had a lot of wounds. Still do, really, but not nearly as many.

[ Ah, a cooperative patient! What a nice surprise. ]

So I've heard. [ He pulls up a report on his laptop. ] How has your leg been? Have you been feeling any unusual aches or pains, besides the expected ones?

[Ekkehardt had insisted he come to see him after everything that had happened - and while he healed himself, there had been...something odd that had happened in that period of time when he was inbetween life and death.

So, when he appears in the infirmary, he looks...a little flushed and worn out, but still having enough energy to give a tired smile to the Lich.]

Is this a bad time, Ekkehardt? I can return another day, if need be.

[spelleton]

No, no. I'm just sorting out the extra supplies I ordered. [ As he speaks, several bandages unwind to continue unpacking strange bottles and odd-looking packages. ] It'll continue like this for the rest of the month, I'm afraid.

Ah, but my troubles aren't yours. And you've had some significant ones in the past week, I believe. [ He indicates that Moriarty should sit. ]

How have you been feeling? Any adverse effects during your regeneration, or anything otherwise unexpected?

[After what happened and completely emptying out his fridge when they got back (sorry for the cold penny taste, bro), he does head to the infirmary, looking exhausted]

I'm here as requested - but I really do not believe I am in need of aid.

So they all say. [ His voice is dry. ] After a week of experiments, I'm surprised to see you walking about.

Please, sit. Have you felt unusual pains or effects in any way, or is it just the normal range of fatigue that troubles you?

[Emille had marked it on her calendar to visit the infirmary today, but when she sees Ekkehardt hard at work unpacking boxes, it causes her to falter just a bit. She knows she'd hate to be interrupted whilst in the middle of something, but she is on kind of a mission. Resolute, she decides to step just inside the entrance and call out,]

Sir Gehring? It is Emille. Do you think you could spare a few moments to answer two questions?

[She'll try to keep the number of follow-up questions at a minimum, but no guarantees.]

I'm at your service, Professor. [ He puts down the box he's holding. It clinks, suggesting glass. ] What kind of answers do you need from me?

[Some of those boxes and bags, when Ekkehardt is done with them, Rebecca's been busy putting away. She's been back and forth quite a bit (non-stop, really) by now and could probably do with a short break. Or an interruption.

Interruptions or not, she does eventually pause on her own. There are some things she recognizes, but she's wondering:] What are some of these, anyway?

You don't have to keep unpacking. At least take a break. [ His voice is polite, but firm. ]

As for these, these are specialist supplies I ordered from home. I'll be processing them into powders so they can be made into potions, poultices, and the like.

Some of them are quite rare - or quite volatile. So I need to pack them carefully. But they'll be useful as things...escalate.

[Kokoro hadn't come out as badly as some of the others, so she'd been to the infirmary, but mostly to visit everyone else. One place she does go, though, is the chapel. It's probably the first time she's been unarmed around the school for a very long time.

As she steps in and notices him, she pauses for a moment and carefully approaches.]

Are you well, Mr. Gehring?

[ He lifts his hands from the organ, stopping mid-chord. ]

I am. And what of yourself, miss Belmont? Healing well, I'd hope?

He can be found either in his room, still vaguely out of it, or in various places around the school that aren't the infirmary. He's not allowed to go back to work yet. ]

[Whenever Ekkehardt drifts back into consciousness, he may notice two things:]

[One, that he's been carefully lain to rest in his own coffin, full and proper funeral-style, with the lid closed.]

[And two, that there's a faint but clearly audible voice coming from just above him, muffled slightly by the barrier of the wood.]

-and warm in your bed, my dear. Please go the fuck to sleep.

[...yeah, that's definitely Jail sitting on top of the lid up there. Don't mind her, she brought a book.]

EKKE WHY

[IF THIS WAS ANYTHING LIKE LAST TIME....She knew Ekkehardt was going to wake up eventually. But no, that doesn't really stop the worry a whole lot.]

[The only good thing to this? She found something to do while waiting. And was almost just about finished.]

[There.]

[She peered back into the coffin, first to see if he might've awakened by now, and when that wasn't the case, plopped a newly made flower crown on his head. Flowers had been finally growing in the courtyard again, after all.]

[...And then back to waiting. Maaaaybe she should do something about the extra leaves and stems across the floor, but, nah.]

[ For all Miach is edgy and antisocial, music does serve as a bit of a siren's call to even her. Drawn by the sounds, she finds herself in front of the chapel door for a bit, but she only enters when she realizes that she knows the person who is singing. Ekkehardt is a strange presence in her life right now, neither welcome nor unwelcome, and she should probably figure this one out eventually.

She sneaks in on her tip-toes, listening quietly until the end. ]

What language was this?

[ He inclines his head in a slight nod to acknowledge her presence, but as she shows no objections to his song, he continues until the end. ]

Ah, it's from the Outlands. I don't believe it has a name, at least not one easily translatable across languages. [ The people who taught it to him saw no reason to name it; they rarely had names, the way humans would, for anything much. ]
It lends itself well to songs, however. It has some interesting sounds.

[ He pauses, before hazarding a question. ] Are different languages something that interests you, miss Miach?

[A chapel had few interests for a daemon, Emizel can assume that's where all the superstitions came from that it keeps daemons away. But he did not have to be that close to hear music playing. Good ears and all.]

[And that...was not human speech. Or was it? There was some languages he still did not know.]

[So for once, there was maybe something interesting there. At least to figure out where that music was from and who was playing it.]

[...Quietly, of course. Can't make a scene about it. Just a peek from the main door to make it look like he was only passing through.]

[And just randomly decided to stop for a moment.]

[ Ekkehardt senses rather than hears the presence of someone lingering at the chapel's door, but finishes his song before he decides to respond.

He turns his head, glancing back. ]
