[Open] The Mark of the Herald

Mark of the Herald Part I
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation
Despite certain disruptive events and ominous visions in the preceding month, August is seemingly still free of any problems.
That’s quick to change, however. Starting from the third of the month, strange, circular marks begin to appear on human students around the school - and, indeed, humans around the world. Those affected begin to feel incurably drowsy, something that no magical or mundane solution can seem to cure or relieve; eventually, they’ll fall asleep entirely, whether they want to or not, and enter a state of magical stasis. Not even nonhumans are immune, though whether they’re marked seems to be much more erratic.
Those who remain awake or are otherwise spared by the mark are free to do as they wish - the Academy won’t ask them to do more than keep themselves safe. But where each marked person falls in slumber, a portal will form; a strange tear in reality, offering glimpses of a surreal, nightmarish plane that differs vastly from individual to individual. One thing is certain; the cause of a victim’s seemingly endless sleep and these portals are linked somehow, and the only way to find out exactly how is to go through...and the only ones capable of doing so are those who are still awake.

Well, that had to have some sort of purpose. With a kick of his legs, he set himself to swing on the grapple line, back and forth until he had enough speed to make the leap to the door. He'll reach for the handle, and if he finds it locked, he'll immediately try the key on it.]

What doesn't seem safe is the laughing in the distance, an indistinct mix of voices, and the way that a cold wind blows through the room. Weird, since there aren't any windows, but there seem to be cracks in the bricks by the table. Of course, there's also the option to go back to the main hall instead.]

Once that was dealt with, Gunvolt stepped inside and was greeted with the fresh smell of pizza, freshly delivered and steaming hot. A rumble in his stomach sounded in the room, and he felt himself sighing.]
...Maybe I shouldn't judge Kokoro getting hungry and eating things she finds, because that pizza looks real good right now.
[Thinking about indulging, he's stopped by the laughing, instinctively drawing his Dart Leader. He followed the noises and the chilling wind to the wall. If there's a way to peer or listening through the cracks, he'll start by doing that, opting to be cautious. And if that doesn't pan out, he'll just draw his lightning saber and try to punch his way through the wall with it.]

Some manner of black cloth flies by on the wind that the doors are letting in, and once it's gone from view, everybody has disappeared with it. And the room... Well, it doesn't look good. Everything is dark like one of those medieval cathedrals that haven't been cleaned in centuries. The glass is broken, furniture is overturned, and monsters are roaming around. Doesn't look too friendly in there, but they haven't noticed him yet... though if he's going to punch the wall, they sure will.]
