[Open] The Mark of the Herald

Mark of the Herald Part I
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation

Despite certain disruptive events and ominous visions in the preceding month, August is seemingly still free of any problems.

That’s quick to change, however. Starting from the third of the month, strange, circular marks begin to appear on human students around the school - and, indeed, humans around the world. Those affected begin to feel incurably drowsy, something that no magical or mundane solution can seem to cure or relieve; eventually, they’ll fall asleep entirely, whether they want to or not, and enter a state of magical stasis. Not even nonhumans are immune, though whether they’re marked seems to be much more erratic.

Those who remain awake or are otherwise spared by the mark are free to do as they wish - the Academy won’t ask them to do more than keep themselves safe. But where each marked person falls in slumber, a portal will form; a strange tear in reality, offering glimpses of a surreal, nightmarish plane that differs vastly from individual to individual. One thing is certain; the cause of a victim’s seemingly endless sleep and these portals are linked somehow, and the only way to find out exactly how is to go through...and the only ones capable of doing so are those who are still awake.

This log can be used as a catch-all for event-related threads. The information for this event is here.

[The distraction is working. The daemon was brushing the attacks off easily but it was giving Puella a chance to think of...something.]

Y-you...

[She mad. This was her little dreamworld and it's not nice having somebody else mess with it. She was going to take it back right now.]

--This is for all the people you hurt!!

[She called for a much detailed looking, spectral parasol. And with it managed to summon something else, a large five-pointed star with a comet-like tail trailing behind it, firing it right at the creature. It was so large and bright that despite it's best efforts to push it back, inevitably their form was completely destroyed by it, having to revert back to nothing but shadows and disappearing.]

[No longer was the world coated in darkness. Puella kneeled back to the ground for the moment. Something was still bothering her but other than that, good riddance.]
stavros: Kokoro about to use her whip. ([a] ready to go)

[Kokoro blinks a moment, gathers herself, and runs over to Puella.]

Now that was impressive! Are you unhurt? It must have taken a good deal of energy out of you.
hattersgonnahat: (But why)

Huh? Oh.

[YEAH IT WAS PRETTY COOL. It also seemed pretty easy to do too, somehow. Probably should be wondering more about where it even came from, but, alas.]

I'm fine.

[Stares down with a soft frown.]

...They broke them on purpose. So no one could take them and do bad things.

That's why it's hard to find more Time Pieces. ...And why no one ever came back.

[They couldn't, even if they wanted to.]
stavros: Kokoro blushing, tearing up. ([c] b-but...)

[Kokoro may not get all the references here, but she's pretty sure she knows who "they" are. She kneels by her and puts a hand on her shoulder.]

And that's what you fear.

[A bit, yeah. She had a few more things to look into now, once out of here.]

[...Speaking of.]

I think I'm ready to wake up now.

[Not exactly sure how to do it yet, but it kind of seems more possible at the moment.]
stavros: Kokoro cheering and fistpumping. ([c] go go go!)

[personal profile] stavros 2020-09-03 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kokoro looks up and around for the portal out.]

All right. And while your future may hold great fear... you have my support. Let us commence!

[Should Kokoro go back to the steps of the bookstore she should find a portal leading out. Whatever does lie behind those doors itself shall remain a mystery.]

[Puella gets up. She's not exactly sure what will happen if she walks through it too, or what will happen if she does wake up while Kokoro was still in here.]

Y-you go first..!
stavros: Kokoro starting up Stavros. ([a] i know how to drive)

[personal profile] stavros 2020-09-04 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[She hesitates, but nods.]

Very well. I trust I'll see you out there.

[And with that, she's gone.]

[The portal closed as soon as Kokoro leaves it. Back into the real world. And nothing else really happens for awhile.]

[Until Puella mutters something, then moves a bit.]

[...Passing out on a book for so long is apparently not the most comfortable thing, but other than that, she was fine and awake.]
