[Event] A Blessing of Gratitude

A Blessing of Gratitude
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Main Nav
The littlest Herald isn’t so little anymore, and is celebrating their first holiday season at Daybreak. In the spirit of things, they want to offer gifts to anyone they can for giving them such a good home.
Admittedly, though, they’re still a little hazy on exactly how this kind of thing works…
Anyone who signed up for Iriceli’s gift exchange - or is simply someone that the former Herald remembers or thinks needs cheering up, which happens to be most people - will find a small to medium sized box in front of their door in early December. They’re helpfully labeled with the intended recipient’s name, and wrapped with… enthusiasm, if not skill.
The ribbons are very colorful.
Inside, you’ll find a gift. The exact specifics of the gift are up to you, but it can be anything from a nice memory somehow anchored in magical form to a gift card for the local pizza place. The only two rules are that it will always be something the recipient would genuinely find pleasant- weird, in a lot of cases, but pleasant - and that its effects can be shared with others (though how, exactly, is left to your imagination).
Maybe opening the box causes you and anyone else around you to smell like your favorite scent the whole day. Maybe it makes birds lovingly follow you and the people you care for around like a Disney princess. Maybe it’s just some really cozy socks (that you can let people borrow if you really wanted).
...They’re doing their best, okay?
Should you want to tell them about how you feel about their gift, or you simply want to see how much they’ve grown, Iriceli will be available to converse with on the log.

Hello! Hello! [ Their voice is a chorus, vibrating with excitement. Whatever is under the cloak is agile as well as malleable; they flutter and swoop around visitors like a particularly odd bird. ]

Did you like it?

[Though she's... not really sure why it makes her and the people around her smell like an ice cream parlour. It is nice, though.]
You aren't used to making good things, then?
no subject
Making nice things that help people is lots harder because I have to learn how first. But it feels better so I think it's okay?

They've certainly visited the containment area, but this!! This!!!]
You're outside!!
[OH DANG!!!] Are you going to go to do school things now?
no subject
[ Oh!! Iri remembers Reina very well - how could they not, when Reina has been so nice - so they spin around in a flurry of exuberant activity. Why yes, they ARE outside, thank you for noticing. ]
School things? Maybe! Maybe not! Nobody said anything about school! Do you think I should go to school?
no subject
[Iri!! It's Reira! Reira!! But then, she's probably fumbled on Iri's name too...]
Mnnh...maybe? Sometimes it can be really boring though...I've definitely been in a class and thought 'I wish I could just be on the roof instead, or in a tree, or swimming'...it'd be more fun then...
...but apparently what we're learning there is important so...
no subject
I heard you're learning lots of very very important things! Like how to defeat Heralds and stuff!
I'm learning them too! Lots and lots of things like that! So maybe it's kind of like school and we're kind of both going to classes anyway?
Do you like being high up? A roof and a tree are high up, aren't they? [ Iri has grown significantly, but the sum total of their non-violent experience is still...not very much in comparison to everyone else. ]
no subject
[Anyway, tall things. Reira nods.] Yeah!! You can see stuff when you're up high, even if it's far away- like what the mountains look like, or the woods... ...there's stuff you can only see up close I guess, but it's nice to be up high. It feels like you can be closer to the sun that way too.
no subject
Can you fly? Or do you have to climb things? [ They don't know much about Reira, they've realised. Or, at least, not in the same way she knows about them. ]
no subject
I can um...I guess float a little bit if I have some of the sprites help, but I don't think I can fly...climbing's more fun anyway, since you get to find stuff along the way, [she insists with a nod.]
...Though, there's more different things in the outlands... ...but...that's probably okay. Things being different all the time there meant I couldn't stay anywhere either, so...
no subject
Stuff? What kind of stuff? I've never climbed things before.
no subject
Clouds look really soft, but the only time I got to see them really close here was in a plane, and you can't touch them from a plane.... [she sighs, disappointed.]
no subject
But now, before him, there's another spooky being and this one says hell to him first. He grins.]
¡Hola!
no subject
[ Iri doesn't remember this one much at all, really, which is exciting in itself. A new face, then, or one that had come before them. ]
I don't know you very much. Are you new or very old?
no subject
[He looks up and rubs at his arm.]
Mmmmaybe both? There's two of me, but one's old. You might know him. Our name's Héctor? But, you can call me Teto.

Mucho Gusto, Iri! You seem cool. I haven't really met any of the heralds yet. Um... I'm not sure what you mean? I guess before I was Teto, I was just Héctor. But if you mean way before that, I don't know! Nobody, I guess.

The fact that the book isn't anything fragile (due to, well, being a book) makes the bubble-wrap a bit of a questionable decision. Maybe somebody just really likes the stuff? Who knows, and she's not gonna judge, anyway.
After spending some time flipping through the book to see what might be worth trying out later, she puts it on her desk in the room she shares with Lia and heads out to go about the rest of her day, or at least as much of her usual routine as she's presently allowed.
Not too long after she's gone outside to head to her next destination, she's started getting followed by some cats that have somehow found their way onto campus. A lot of cats. It's kind of cute, but also a little weird, and maybe just a bit awkward.]
