With the call for aid for the advent of the Suneater, the Academy has become one of the many operational centers around the world. The school while never having been quiet by any measure is now buzzing with extra traffic as those from all walks of life and not-quite-life gathered, preparing to literally fight for the sake of the world.

Whether the added souls were new to the supernatural, old faculty and students returning to the fold, or even legends whispered of in hush voices by those in the know, all are welcomed with open arms, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere despite the grim purpose of their visit.

A. Team-Build Exercises
To help with coordinating for the massive undertaking, team-building measures have been enacted, from trust falls to tag-team spars and even trivia bowls. Everything is designed to bring the disparate groups together to build trust and understanding...with varying results.

B. Breaking Bread
With the increase number of people needing to eat, the kitchen under the helm of Chef Hendersen aka Professor Bigfoot has been bringing out food from all corners of the world and the outlands - to make people feel at home - and for the daring to try the far more exotic fare such as Baatzou Surprise or Cumulus Puff from Celestia. And as it turns out - a speciality for the adults, they found some Ambrosia - drink and be merry.

C. Shop Talk
With the experience and wisdom of all sorts of trades and specialities being brought together, it’s only natural to want to exchange information and see what new innovations or experiments has been underway, or to get into impromptu competitions over whose ideas, spells or artifice will work better, especially if there’s money or bragging rights to be had.

[You know who’s willing to lecture other people? Vil. You know who’s excited about everything that can be learned now?

I knew quite a few Outlands plants were poisonous, but I didn’t know all of these extraction techniques existed.

[He isn’t usually this excited- his accent is coming out a bit! - and he’s got an array of bottles with him.]

[Trey can't help but brighten a bit at Vil's excitement.]

Yeah? Learn anything especially interesting?

[He eyes the bottles briefly, then puts his notebook away so he can give Vil his full attention.]

Perhaps surprisingly, most Outlands poisons or poisonous plants aren't outright deadly.

[He adjusts his bottles, with a criteria he doesn't bother to explain.]

Several of the deadly poisons are also less... Horrific than man-made ones. They're quicker and with less painful side-effects.

... Huh. That is surprising. And pretty fascinating, actually.

[Trey might not share Vil's particular inclination towards poison, but he enjoys seeing Vil this excited.]

I thought so as well.

[Obviously.

He finally looks up from his bottles, a spark in his eye.]

So I've been looking into how to acquire some of the plants required to make these. Not all of them are kept in the greenhouse.

[Ah, that spark... Trey grins.]

Anything promising?

I think I’ve found a reputable supplier.

[He leans in.]

Or I can go there myself.

Well, you know if you want some company going there, I'd be happy to go with you.

I was hoping you’d say that.

[He’s ready to go right now, but...]

Once this is all over, we can go.

[He better. He preens for a moment, before Trey gets his full attention.]

...So what have you been working on?

You remember that side project I had, right? With the food that temporarily grants boosts when eaten. I've been working with some new effects.

[aquatofana]

Oh? What kind of boosts have you come up with?

[Of course it’s food related...]

[Listen, he's gotta play to his strengths!]

Granting the ability to siphon energy from an enemy, shrugging off any nasty surprises an enemy might have in store, and a healing factor are the main ones.

I’m surprised it’s taken you so long to figure out a way to make your food heal... I’m interested to see how it works, though.

It seems like it'd be really basic, doesn't it? But it's actually trickier than I thought it'd be...

[Let him get his notebook back out! He flips to the appropriate page, then offers it to Vil.]

It can be tweaked for further improvements, but that's what I had when I finally got it working correctly.

If anyone could have figured it out, it’s you.

[He looks over the notebook, nodding once.]

And it’s easy enough to do it’s not a waste of time or ingredients?

[Aw, that vote of confidence! Trey's going to be quietly but obviously pleased by that.]

Now that I've figured out how to do it? Absolutely.

Is your dorm stocked with your attempts?

[It’s lightly teasing - just another sign of Vil’s good mood.]

Yes. It's probably for the best I don't share a dorm with your cousin.

[Lum is already drowning in baked goods...]

I don’t think the kitchens would be able to handle the two of you.

[Or the students living there... The two of them combined? That’s too much power.]

Probably not from the sounds of it, no.
