WHO: Peter and Orihime
WHAT: Going on a date! Maybe a friends date? How Did Peter Parker Become a Player, Part One.
WHEN: February 18th
WHERE: Soleil
NOTES: Warnings for soppy cuteness.
[ He shows up at her door almost on time, having forgotten at the last minute to stuff some snacks in his backpack and racing back upstairs to get it. But he makes it within a reasonable amount of lateness (especially by Peter Parker standards), and then it's a short walk into town to find the movie theater. Probably he won't understand any of it? But if it's dumb then he can at least have a good time.
This is how he winds up in front of the little local theater with Orihime, looking up at the movies and ... oh man, there are some American ones, aren't there? He's surprised at the selection. ]
Does France get stuff early? I thought that one wasn't coming out until next year.
[ He says, gesturing to Battle Feline Catlita. ]

[For now, though, she gets to enjoy that giddy fluttery feeling again as she leans against his shoulder. She likes his scent, his warmth, the way expressions play so easily across his face. Just feeling the movements of his breathing is kind of exhilarating.]
[She pays almost zero attention to the rest of the movie, instead idly letting her fingers explore the shape of his. Her thumb brushes back and forth, her fingertips caress his down to the center of his palm and back again. It's a little bit fascinating, really, as she learns where his callouses are, the shape of his knuckles, where his wrist is encircled by his web shooter. It's so pleasant that she makes no attempt to rise when the credits roll and lingers in her seat up until the very end when the lights come on.]
[She'd feel disappointed, but she's had time to think about what she wants to do next, once they reach Aube dormitory again.]
I guess we should go...
[But only if he really wants to.]

Before he knows it, the movie's over. And they're sitting here in the dim light, just. Comfortable. A little too comfortable to move. ]
I mean - yeah. I guess they'll come shoo us out in a minute.
[ He moves to get up? ]

[It's a shame, but they do have time. Lots of time. Many, many days to come where they can study, or relax, whatever they want. And after all of that stress and fear and anger, it feels wonderful to know that he cares about her.]
[Orihime rises with him, gathering the popcorn under her arm and the half-finished soda in her hand. Her fingers remain clasped with his.]
Thanks! This was a great beginner date, I'm already feeling more experienced.
no subject
Yeah? Me too. I definitely haven't had very many.

[She means it earnestly, but that's probably due more to their friendship beforehand. Tossing her snacks into the garbage can, it's much easier to walk beside him.]
But I guess we are pretty young, so it's not surprising. I didn't think I'd start until I was at least sixteen!
[As they step outside, the sudden shift from the warm theater to a blast of cold winter mountain air nearly steals her breath. A pause from hand-holding to zip up her coat, then she's right back again with a sheepish smile.]
I'm glad I didn't have to wait that long.

Speaking of which, he pauses for a second. Taking her hand again. He's warm at least; his extra fast metabolism makes him radiate a decent amount of heat. ]
... We're in the same grade though, right? I thought we were mostly the same age.
[ He'd thought she was sixteen, honestly; it's a little strange thinking of himself as being older than her. ]
no subject
I think so. Grade 10, right? I'll be sixteen in September. School years in Japan start in April instead of September, so my school grade is a little unbalanced.
[She walks slowly beside him on the pavement, just enjoying the crisp air and the swirling gusts of snow.]
What about you, when's your birthday? I guess you're older than I am, ha ha!
[It doesn't really feel that way to her, but ability-wise, he does seem more experienced with his powers.]
no subject
[ Is that okay??? He sure hopes so because he doesn't want to stop dating her. Being in the same grade probably means they're close enough, he hopes.
Let's maybe ignore the fact he's technically two full years older than her. Being dead doesn't count. ]
no subject
Really? That's so close to mine! It's the best time of year, too. Good, I have plenty of time to figure out what I'm going to choose for your present, and figure out your favorite meal too.
no subject
[ Is it stupid to plan out a date six months in advance? Probably. ]
no subject
[The suggestion has definitely perked her up.]
I've never had my birthday close enough to someone else's that I could do a double celebration. That sounds really fun! I can take care of the cake!
[She pauses thoughtfully.]
Anou...do you want to celebrate with just the two of us, or invite people over to the common room for a small party?
[Even though it's more than half a year away, she likes talking about it and planning for it. Everything is so exciting!]
--Oh, how about that area up ahead! It's off the main road, that's a good place for a mugging!
no subject
[ More cake, more celebration, right? Why the heck not?
Also jeez Hime. He laughs a bit at that. ]
Don't say it out loud or we'll get mugged.
no subject
[She laughs at his response, tickled.]
Either that or I'll make the cops think I'm planning to swipe someone's wallet. Hopefully I didn't give off that kind of impression!
[But there are no cops, and no one would ever look at her and think she would commit any sort of heinous crime. Quickening her steps, she gives his hand a light tug so they can hurry toward the more dimly lit area sandwiched next to a bar and a salon that closed hours ago.]
How about here?
[There are three scruffy men leaning against the wall, smoking, and they've turned to eye the pair with a dirty look at having teenagers interrupt their conversation.]
no subject
Also where are you taking them. Hime please. ]
Uh - maybe we should back off here. They look like they're minding their own business.
no subject
Oh, you're right. Sorry!
[She raises her free hand in apology.]
We were looking for the bathroom, my mistake!
[The three men exchange a brief glance before one of them straightens, taking two steps forward and tapping indicatively at his bare wrist.]
'Hey, wait up. You kids got the time?'
no subject
Uh, no idea man, sorry. C'mon, I think I saw the bathroom back this way.
[ He tugs on Orihime's arm a little. Mmmmaybe they'll leave them alone? ]
no subject
[But sure enough, the second the two of them break eye contact, Peter's spider senses tingle sharply. The one that was walking forward lunges to grab Orihime's arm while snapping out a switchblade with the other hand, ready to make her a hostage in exchange for money. But she resists, digging in with her heels as a second man rushes Peter with a raised fist...]
[...And slams right into Orihime's shield with a loud bellow of pain and surprise. Naturally, having no connection to fey magic, he can't see what she did.]
no subject
-- Whoa! Good timing!
[ He means it, that was an awesome shield. Meanwhile, he shifts to one side, webbing one of the muggers to the alley wall by his wrist. ]
no subject
[Orihime is still dealing with the one that's got her arm, so she decides to reverse tactics. Instead of trying to get away from him, she instead lets herself be pulled forward so she can sink her teeth into his shoulder. He's got a coat on, so it's not bad, but it does shock him enough to instinctively shove her back and yell 'Crazy bitch!']
[She stumbles, but after seeing what Peter did, she takes a note from his book and shoots her own web at the man's knife hand. It doesn't glue his wrist to a wall, but it does confuse him to find a thick gob of gooey paste clamping his hand closed.]
