Something Something Training Montage [open]
WHO: Puella, and YOU?
WHERE: Various
WHEN: Second half of February, after the Valentine's Dance and Daemon invasion; possibly very early March if necessary
WHAT: Local kid lacks combat skills, local kid decides to solve this
WARNINGS: Probably a few non-child proof weapons
A - Please Let Those Be Nerf Foamed (Feb 15-17ish)
[At some point in the day, Puella was at one of the training grounds the academy provided. Or rather, had to practically drag herself out onto the field since the large, golf bag shaped carrier was weighing her down - and giving her quite a workout just getting there. Upon arriving she unceremoniously dropped the bag to the ground, thankful to be ridden of it at last. It did not take much to hear the loud metallic clang happening inside either.]
[Finally she unzipped the bag and poles of various shapes and sizes spill out and she takes out the first one she can. Wait...isn't that a poleaxe? Whoever loaned her out this stuff may have been gracious enough to only give her a replica, but the weight and size was the real deal. And well...the weight and size was definitely becoming the main issue. It's way too tall to use practically.]
[Puella moved on to a different weapon in the bag: A flail this time, but she was having a hard time keeping the spiked ball off the ground. Then she moved on to a mace which...actually was more compacted and easier to swing - just not swing well. No matter how hard she tried, she could not really damage any targets. Or rather it was more like gravity was doing all the work.]
[Unsurprisingly, Puella was eventually beat. Too much lifting; swinging. Her muscles were going to be sore for days and could only muster the strength to lay uncomfortably on the bag of equipment. It only slightly wins over laying on the ground.]
B - One Man's Junk is Another's Treasure
[If traditional weapons weren't going to work for her, then there had to be something else she could use. After all - it did not seem like many other students, or even faculty relied on them either. Perhaps there was something else she was missing...something, but what?]
[And that's what lead Puella to the Second-Hand Market. Can't really go rummaging through the lost and found after all - despite being more familiar with that place than she cared to admit now.]
[But that's fine, with how many diverse items there was in here something was bound to give her an idea.]
Nope... Nope... Nada...
[Or not.]
[Multiple trinkets, knickknacks, and other unusual and mundane objects littered the floor as Puella did what an actual dumpster dive would look like. Hopefully she'll have the gall to clean up the mess later.]
C - Collectables
[A hat child was in the library again with a pile of books, not an unusual place to find her, but she was staring deeply at an hourglass with her arms crossed on the table...almost like she was angry with it. It..seemed like a harmless piece? But judging how the clouded, swirling substance inside was moving, it definitely was not sand. Was it a gas? A liquid?]
...I really should've asked for more. [She carefully tipped the hourglass on it's side to twirl it. Even a minor inscription would probably use the whole thing up - she already looked. Can't even imagine how getting more was going to be either.]
D - Wildcard
[Surprise or hit me with more ideas,
Grifstar]

[Surprise or hit me with more ideas,

no subject
--I got this under control!
[Says the child while trying to lift the ten ton iron back up with everything she's got.]
no subject
...Are you trying to learn how to fight?
[Just. Throwing that guess out there.]
no subject
...I think I'm doing this right.
[She gave up trying to lift the axe. They make these things look a lot lighter on tv. Or she was really not in shape. Either way.]
no subject
[Have you considered: A Knife.]
no subject
[A little. But something closer to her size would mean something also small. Small means she would need to closer to hit it.]
I can attack things further away.
no subject
[Hmmm.]
Or you could also go for something ranged, that you can throw or shoot, if you're that worried.
no subject
[Either way, Hieke does have a point. She glanced at the axe sheepishly.] ...I could go for something lighter.
But- If I use it long enough I'll get stronger too!
[It's just becoming apparent it may be painful. Possibly worth it in the end, but...oof.]
no subject
Allegedly.]
If you train with something lighter you'll get stronger, too. The more active you are, the stronger you'll become. Starting with something like a dagger now and moving on to something like that... [He gestures at the axe.] Would at least be the safer thing to do.
no subject
[If she can lug all this stuff back, maybe she can get a dagger to try out?]
Are daggers really easy to use? Do you use one? Aren't you afraid being that close to monsters?
no subject
[Have no fear, Hieke has a collection of daggers he keeps on him. You never know when there'll be danger, after all.
The blade he holds out to her is simple, and most importantly, small.]
They're easy once you get the hang of them, but that goes for about everything. Sometimes being close to monsters is scary, but you're also able to get away from them really fast when you're not carrying around something heavy that can get caught on things.
no subject
[Perhaps Puella was having some second thoughts about all this. Maybe she was not ready to be killing monsters yet, especially if it means slicing them up. It..it sounds really messy. But then what else will she do if daemons attack again..?]
Th...thanks. I'll work on it.
[Yeah she'll continue being awkwardly silent about it.]
no subject
But he's not...humans. Humans are a bit more squeamish, a bit more open to solving things with words. It's probably why she at least doesn't seem to know a lot about combat.
He scratches at his cheek, hesitating.]
Uh... Well. You're welcome? But, you know.
[Oh geez. Someone help him.]
You don't have to fight? Like, if you're going to fight, do it with something suited to you, but you don't. Have to.
no subject
Or I should. That way...that way I can do something!
no subject
Even if you don't find, you can still help. We're going to need more than fighters when Nightfall comes - we'll need people who can rebuild or people who can take care of those that do fight.
Have you ever considered trying out healing? You can make a difference without needing to hurt anything.
no subject
[Puella should never be a healer. We want her to want to save humanity, not destroy it because she enough of damage dealers running off and getting hurt again. And not learning at all from the first time.]
[But hey, at least it helped remind her of where she's seen Hieke before.]
That's kinda what you and Ekke do, right? Do you like it?
no subject
[Listen, the more healers there are, the less likely it is that Hieke will get fed up with everyone being so reckless all the time. It's a win-win!]
And I have to say I like it quite a bit.
no subject
[Because the sight of blood might be already be an issue already...Especially if she's already reluctant to stab things.]
no subject
[There's a certain point you'll reach where you don't need to touch or see blood in order to fix the problem. It's great.]
no subject
What sorts of things do you heal?
