[Open] Adjusting
Who: Ken & YOU
What: Vengeful child tries to adjust to school life.
Where: Around Campus
When: First week of March
Warnings: N/A
A. Moving In (Student Dorms)
Ken looks down at multiple papers, his gaze intense as if glaring a whole through it would give him the answers that he sought. He only recently arrived, his father's friend giving him a simple good luck and a hair ruffle which Ken quickly did his best to fix. Ken knows that he's only really here to hone his abilities but he's onto what the older man really wants him to do. But Ken won't allow himself to get distracted from his goals. He will become better and he will avenge his mother. What he's supposed to do after that? Well, that's only for him to know.
Ken is so deep in his thoughts that he isn't aware that he bumps into someone before it's too late. Ken is quick to get into a defensive fighting position before he relaxes when he realizes he isn't under attack. "Oh, I apologize." Ken says, his stance relaxing into something relaxed. "I wasn't watching where I was going."
B. Misunderstanding (The Quad - Courtyard)
Anyone who walks through the courtyard with a keen eye would see a young man mumbling something to himself. While that is not anything too unusual, the fact the kid is also holding a gun shaped objected aimed right to his chest might cause something that is a bit alarming.
Ken, meanwhile, is unconcerned with how the image may look to an outside party. He has just finished practicing with his spear so he needs to practice with Nemesis next. It's quite taxing keeping her summoned for too long but he's trying to train his body to do so. This will be the third time he's summoned her before he finally gives into exhaustion. Ken breathes heavily as he holds the summoning object to his chest. As long as he focuses, he should be able to do it this time. He's sure of it!
C. Written in the Pages? (Hall of Pythia)
Ken adjusts the pile of books that he has collected over the pass five minutes. They were mostly just titles that caught his eyes, every one thick and heavy. Books on vengeance, familiar magic and prophecies. And there may have been some comic books slipped in the large pile as well but Ken would be quick to admit that he would have no possible idea of how they got there. You know. Like a liar! Or, well, at least like a kid not wanting to admit that he reads such childish things...
Turns out the tactic of picking up random books and trying to carry them is a bad idea. Because it only takes Ken's shoe string to get caught underneath his other foot before him and his tower of books come crashing down. He groans, slowly observing the mess that he's made. Yeah, definitely a bad idea. Ken sucks in a breath before he begins picking them up, doing his best to push down the embarrassed pinkness in his cheeks.
D. Eating Time (The Great Hall)
This place is still new to Ken. Is it odd that, despite being among people who are like him, he still feels out of place? Maybe it is because he isn't experiencing the same thing that the others are going through. While everyone seems so outward and happy, he is the 11-year-old with his eyes set on vengeance and taking out the one who has wronged him the most. Or, maybe there is someone out there that he can relate to but he's took focused on becoming stronger to just notice? Ken take a deep breath, calming his nerves.
As long as he stays polite and kind, nothing could possibly go wrong. Right? Maybe. Ken approaches the first table he sees, a polite smile on his face that feels like it's forcibly plastered there more than anything. "Excuse me." He says. "I'm sorry to interrupt but do you mind if I sit here? My usual spot is taken." The first few days, his spot was a place that no other people seemed to flock to but life just can't catch him a break, can it?

D
Toki gestures grandly to the vacant seat.
"Are you new!? I haven't seen you around! You shouldn't get to used to things, like your usual spot, because you can't guarantee it will be there, like with anything else in life and especially in places like this! Daybreak's full of weird stuff and the only thing to expect is the unexpected~!"
no subject
"A-Ah, yes, I am new actually." Well, he isn't technically wrong. Expecting the unexpected was something he really needs to start doing. "I see, so that's how things work here..." Ken mumbles to himself before he turns his attention back to him. "My name is Ken Amada, by the way. It's nice to meet you. Do you like it here so far?"
no subject
He may try a little too hard to come off as excited and happy when meeting new people, but is unaware if it's unsettling. Ken's question can't really be answered truthfully, as Toki isn't sure if he does actually like it here. He's still reserving judgement a bit; there are both good and bad things.
"It's amazing~! There's so many nice people and the classes are great and most of the professors are excellent~!"
He has maybe three friends, doesn't go to half the classes and is failing the rest, but he does actually like the professors.
"Are you a Candle? What can you do!?"
The standard question for new students; just how awesome are your powers?
no subject
"I'll take your word for it."
Being bombarded with question after question, huh. Especially about his powers.
"Oh I am, actually. And I can summon my very own powerful familiar. Her name is Nemesis. What about you?"
no subject
He doesn't separate ideas with any pauses, and there will be no context given about the robot conversation.

"No problem," Bee replies. "Anything I can help you with?"
no subject
He squints down at his paper. "Yes, actually. Do you know where A...Aeub...Au...Aube? Aube." It was just an odd name is all. He swears it. "Do you know where Aube Dormitory 305 is?"
no subject
"I'm Floor 3's RA. Name's Bumblebee." He holds out a hand to shake.
no subject
"It's nice to meet you, Bumblebee-san." Ken says. "I'm Ken Amada. I hate to sound like a clueless newbie but what is an RA, exactly?"

C - let me know if it's cool to assume the TDM thread is canon! I can change otherwise
Books today?
yeah it's cool! and also pretty funny they meet like this again.
"You again?" Well, this is awkward. It seems being embarrassed in front of the mysterious guy with glasses again is in his future. "What are you doing here?"
Kind of a stupid question, really.

[He skims one of the titles as he hands it back to Ken]
Some heavy stuff here.
no subject
"I just have a particular taste is all. I'm mature enough to handle this kind of stuff. Books for people my age just don't hold my taste."
Did that sound convincing enough?

a;
"You seemed pretty lost there, for a second," she says. It happens, though. Everyone here seems to get wrapped up in their own thoughts all the time. She hasn't seen this boy around, though, in the scant month she's been there, so that must mean... "Getting used to all this new stuff, huh?"
no subject
"Are you a student here too? You live here, right?" He asks.
no subject
"I am," she says while pointing upwards. "I live on the fourth floor of these dorms."
no subject
"The fourth floor?" Ken questions. "I hope it isn't too exhausting for you, um..." He didn't know her name. He should probably change that. Introductions are key and all that. "What is your name?"

B
Yes. That IS how she greets a teenager with a gun-shaped object prodded to his chest in an open courtyard. The obscenely tall woman with black hair steps around the boy, no alarm really present in her demeanor.
"You'd better be careful, little one. You might hurt yourself."
no subject
And sees a woman. Ken sucks in a small breath. Either he shrunk or she is just really tall.
"Ah. Who are you?"
no subject
...
"I was watching you from the window of my classroom, up there." She explains.
no subject
"I...see. Well, you don't need to worry about it. I can handle it so nothing will get past me." Ken says with a light pat to his chest. He may not look it, but he's a tough guy! In how own opinion, anyways...

B, 15 minutes late with Starbucks
Like a little boy pointing a handgun to his chest.
A flash of fear ripples through her as Minako picks up the pace as she walks briskly toward him. Startling him when he's like that would be a bad idea, and as she gets closer, she gets a better glimpse of the weapon he's holding and...
Oh. That's... She definitely recognizes it; her stomach dropping as her gait slows, becoming more purposeful. There's no sign of alarm on her face, her expression measured with the hint of an apprehensive smile painted across her lips.
"What are you doing?"
Minako, you know exactly what he's doing. But she wants to hear it from him first.
no subject
He looks down at himself. Ah, wait. This probably looks very concerning from a distance, doesn't it? Ken holds the Evoker away from his chest and keeps it pointed at the ground instead. "It's not what it looks like. I'm just training. Honest."
no subject
"It's okay," She reassures him, her head tilted slightly. It's probably better to just cut to the chase here. Minako pauses, her gaze flicking to the weapon in his hand before looking at him once more. "That's an evoker, right?"
no subject
"I...think so?" Ken says with uncertainty. "Is this really what it is?" He mostly just knows what it does.
