001, Arrival , OTA
Who: Dust & OTA
What: Arriving in the city/outside the school and being incredibly lost.
Where: Around campus
When: 03/22
Warnings: None
It had been a long trek from the small encampment outside the city where he’d spent the last week. The strange people who had helped nurse him back to 'health' had not given him much in way of instructions on what to do when he returned to the city. All he'd been given was a bag of unfamiliar belongings with clues on where he could have called home. One such item in the back was a room key for the school in the city, Dorm 403. At least if nothing else, he would have a place to sleep.
That is, if he could find the door which the key belonged to.
Dust instinctively put a hand to his forehead as he mentally poured over the details he recalled from the last few days. All he had to do was find this place where he supposedly lived before losing his memories and then things could start going back to normal. Once he got amidst familiar surroundings, the ones that took care of him assured him that his memories would begin returning.
But instead of looking certain of his goals, he looked...incredibly lost. Dust stopped and stared up at the buildings that surrounded him as if he saw them for the first time. Every street looked alien and every road looked strange. Nothing looked familiar. Shouldn't he have felt at least a little at ease in being in the city again? “Maybe once I find this school, I’ll remember something.” He said sigh a sigh.

"Lost?" He asks, his voice a deep deadpan and eyes scrutinising the... fox... man? He knows it's unfair to assume any non-human is an enemy, but it is fair because he presumes everyone is a potential enemy no matter who or what they are. Even his friends.

"Something like that." He offered with a cant of the head. Wouldn't he have to know where he was even going before he could say that he was lost? Well, whatever the case, maybe he could ask this stranger to point him in the right direction. Or any direction. "I just arrived in town and I was looking for a school that's somewhere around here...?"

Dust dug through his belongings and fished out a small key with the label '403' at the top of it. "I'm looking for the place that this key belongs to. I think it's my old room."

What a bizarre statement, without the pre-knowledge that Dust is missing memories. This fellow raises a huge number of questions, but what doesn't around here? Still, the key does look like a Lumière one. It's enough it seems he is meant to be here.
"what do you mean your 'old' room, if this is your first time here?"

"Quite the conundrum," Rex says with a voice that offers no sympathy at all, despite that fact it's swiftly building in him. He is, after all, someone whose entire identity is determined by his memories of the glorious golden days from his youth. Briefly forgetting he's not actually an old man, he just talks like one. "Very well. I shall escort you."
He points with his shovel the correct direction and starts to walk.
"Rex."
That's his whole introduction, he's not just randomly saying king in Latin.

So Dust trotted after and offered a name in return. "Dust." He said simply. "And thank you." He looked ahead with a smile. "I don't think I could have found what I was looking for without some help."

His words proved true shortly after they turn a corner as, although they were still a fair distance from it, he pointed with his shovel to the academy. Practically a fortress and certainly the most impressive set of structures in the town. "...Student, or faculty?"
A reasonable question, in Rex's mind. It would be perfectly in keeping with Daybreak to hire an amnesiac being of indeterminate species to teach something.

"Are the room numbers separated by students and faculty, or is that something you have to know?" If the numbers differed between students and teachers, they could just follow the numbers until they reacher 403. Wherever it was.

Hello?

You're pretty perceptive.

I don't suppose that's why you were following me.
no subject
No, although it did make it interesting. You new here?
no subject
You could say that.
