ruby's leaving the dorm to get something to eat when suddenly, thunk! she puts a hand over her mouth when she realizes that it's a girl with a suitcase. standing in front of the dorm.

I'm sososo sorry! Are you okay? Are you hurt?

What do you think you're doing?! Don't just fling doors open like that! Just what would you have done if I was carrying something fragile, huh? Next time show a little decorum, you dunce!

[This all is said in one burst, hardly giving Ruby time to get a word in edgewise.]

[ ...this is her new roommate. and sadly, this sort of attitude isn't something she isn't used to in this au. she shrinks a little, pausing after weiss finishes her outburst. ]

I'm sorry... I didn't mean to! Promise, it won't happen again!

[Weiss steps in, and takes a look around. She's obviously not pleased by what she sees.]

Why are there bags just lying on the floor? Weren't you informed that you'd have a roommate soon?

[ nnnoooo this is going horribly... ]

Welllll... I was supposed to wake up early to clean a little, but that didn't happen, and then you showed up!

[ she laughs weakly. ]

Um... I'll go ahead and clean it up now! No better time than the present!

[Surprisingly, that doesn't seem to upset Weiss.]

I suppose that's acceptable, mornings are an invention of evil.

[ oh good. ruby smiles a little brighter as she starts moving her bags into the closet on her side of the room. ]

Yep! Too bad classes start pretty early. If I had it my way, I'd be taking aaaall night classes!

Now that sounds like the best idea I've ever heard.

[As Ruby finishes up, Weiss starts unpacking herself. Among her belongings are several bags of expensive looking German coffee.]

I'd definitely prefer that to using up so much of my stock every day.

[ okay, okay. things seem to be turning around, even if it's just a little...! ]

That's a lotta coffee you got there! Heh, and it sure looks expensive...

Not to a Schnee, on both counts. Though honestly, more expensive doesn't necessarily mean better. It entirely depends on the environment it's grown in, as well as the skill of the maker.

[Sorry Ruby, you've activated Coffee Snob Mode.]

[ she does not know what being a schnee means, i am so sorry weiss. ]

Well, this coffee has to be good, since you've got so much of it!

[ and since we're talking about names... ] Oh, right... I almost forgot! I'm Ruby, by the way. [ she holds out a hand for a handshake! ]

[Weiss looks at the hand... then she gives a semi-polite nod and looks back to her unpacking.]

[ well...okay. ruby lowers he hand and moves to sit on her bed as weiss unpacks. ]

What's a Heiress doing here at Daybreak?

Hmph, what's anyone doing here? I assure you, I have the same reason for attending as anyone else. The Apocalypse would be terrible for business.

[ that gets a hearty laugh out of ruby. ]

Good point! I almost forgot about the Apocalypse, I was just excited to be somewhere with other magical people!

Hmm, if we're going to be roommates, we should become familiar with each other's abilities, should we not?

[Please say yes, she wants an opportunity to show off to someone who will actually be impressed.]

Oh, yeah! Good point.

What can you do, Weiss?

I would suggest we step outside for this, but it's Summer.

[She says the word "Summer" like one might say "the sewers."]

So instead, I'll just keep it small-scale.

[She gestures to one of her coffee bags and a black glyph forms in front of her hand. Once it's fully formed, the bag goes flying towards it, remaining still in the air in front of it.]

There's my attraction glyph of course, one of my most useful.

Ohhhh...

[ good job, weiss, because ruby is certainly impressed. her eyes are sparkling as she looks at the bag -- she just loves learning about other people's abilities! ]

I can't wait to see the full thing in action! You're gonna be all like pow, pow, pow!

[ sound effects are, indeed, accompanied with ridiculous hand motions. ]

Oh, if I want to do that...

[The black glyph spins in front of her hand, turning white as it does so. The bag goes shooting back to join it's brethren, slightly jostling them from the force.]

I use the opposite side of that particular coin, repulsion glyphs. They also double as a handy platform if need be.

[ ruby gets real giddy and squeals a little. ]

Your powers are so cool, Weiss! Can you do that with people too?

Of course, but it would take a much larger glyph. I can generally only affect things that fit within the space of my glyphs. Now then, as my last one isn't the sort to use inside, and I don't willingly go outside until after sundown, I believe it's your turn.

Oh, uh, right!

[ she gestures over to her scythe, which is leaning up against the wall. ]

That's my weapon, Crescent Rose! I'm a Candle, and Iiii...can make fireballs and stuff!

[Weiss goes even paler somehow, and coughs discreetly.]

Well, if we're showing off weapons...

[She takes out a long case and flips the latches open. Resting within is an intricate Rapier, clearly very well made. To an experienced observer, what would look like pure decoration to most shows itself to be hiding runes in the designs.]

This is Myrtenaster, my personal blade.

[ she's going to walk over and inspect it without touching it. she's completely fawning over the craftsmanship and the decorations. it's a very beautiful weapon! ]

Oooh, it's so sparkly! You take really good care of it, too!

[ ruby's weapon is pretty spotless herself. crescent rose is her baby. ]

A fancy weapon for a fancy girl, am I right?
