Memory Sharicus - Oh No, not again!

About 8 am on July 15th, Rex does something stupid in his usual genius way. It was meant to be a small, simple test run of a method to scan a person and instantly gain all the data he needed to produce a Phantom.

The small field the spell was meant to spread just kept growing, until popping like a bubble with the most counterintuitive sound of all- two seconds of white noise, sounding as if it was coming from inches away. Not everyone heard it. But everyone who did...

It's a painless process, almost ticklish and instantaneous as numerous coloured orbs fly out from their chest, taking wild curving trajectories that launch them all over the academy and some of Soleil, coming to a sudden stop and hovering silently for just a few seconds.

That's when they start to slowly float towards the nearest possible recipient of the memory they contain, accelerating as they get closer as if thought and mind have a unique sort of magnetism.

It's sort of beautiful to see, really, not that Rex will notice because 60% of his mind is consumed with fear he will get into trouble and the Phantom project will be compromised. On the other hand, the Phantom project could provide the perfect scapegoat. So about six hours after the initial event, he released his latest creation- the Phantom mischief-maker, Waggery!

What a disaster.

(( ooc: The planning post is here! Be careful to warn for the nastier memories! If you already have memories planned to share, feel free to write them as a top level or just put up your character and link to the planning/make it a free for all. There'll be a post below for Waggery shenanigans and random NPC memories up for grabs. ))

[Now you've done it. You were in so much trouble.]

[Whether or not you were actually grounded or you grounded yourself, you stayed in your room, mostly just twiddling your thumbs on the bed. Worried. Worried mostly about what was going to happen now.]

[It actually is not very long at all until you hear your father coming home. Sure enough, there was concerned voices coming through the wall and you sink down more. You anticipate the footsteps coming closer to your room, and then suddenly your name called out.]

[You don't answer, but the door creaks open anyway. He was holding what you had created earlier that day. Well, less the top hat itself but the magical aura it was still slightly radiating.]

I heard you were busy while I was gone.

[You scrunch up a bit more.] I know I wasn't allowed up there, but then I found those books, and I just wanted to--

[You expected him to inject, but...he didn't. He clearly had a tired expression on his face, but he was more interested in looking down into the hat.] ...This is the only one you made?

[You just nod. It wasn't a lie, but if you complied anyway you might be forgiven even sooner. He just kept a stern look while inspecting the hat over, and closely. Until suddenly, his expression just softened. What you did was reckless and potentially dangerous, but for sure reason, he can't stay angry for long.]

You know, for a first time you did a very good job. Are you sure you did this all by yourself?

[You're taken by surprise, and a wave of relief. You suddenly no longer felt as defensive as before.] I did though!

You could read all those hard words on your own?

Yeah! Well...sorta...

[He just laughs. And before long, he's on the bed with you, holding you close and ruffling your hair.] Alright, alright. But next time you do that, you should wait when we're both home.

[There was also, a hundred things that probably needed explaining now. But those could wait for a later date. A much, much later date. If you don't try to pry for answers sooner.]

[You then felt the weight of the hat gently on your head.]
Of all things...it's funny you would pick that old thing. [He seems thoughtful, a bit reminiscent. Though you can't understand why.] You should hang on to it for as long as you can. I think if you do, you might find something quite special...
