Memory Sharicus - Oh No, not again!
About 8 am on July 15th, Rex does something stupid in his usual genius way. It was meant to be a small, simple test run of a method to scan a person and instantly gain all the data he needed to produce a Phantom.
The small field the spell was meant to spread just kept growing, until popping like a bubble with the most counterintuitive sound of all- two seconds of white noise, sounding as if it was coming from inches away. Not everyone heard it. But everyone who did...
It's a painless process, almost ticklish and instantaneous as numerous coloured orbs fly out from their chest, taking wild curving trajectories that launch them all over the academy and some of Soleil, coming to a sudden stop and hovering silently for just a few seconds.
That's when they start to slowly float towards the nearest possible recipient of the memory they contain, accelerating as they get closer as if thought and mind have a unique sort of magnetism.
It's sort of beautiful to see, really, not that Rex will notice because 60% of his mind is consumed with fear he will get into trouble and the Phantom project will be compromised. On the other hand, the Phantom project could provide the perfect scapegoat. So about six hours after the initial event, he released his latest creation- the Phantom mischief-maker, Waggery!
What a disaster.
(( ooc: The planning post is here! Be careful to warn for the nastier memories! If you already have memories planned to share, feel free to write them as a top level or just put up your character and link to the planning/make it a free for all. There'll be a post below for Waggery shenanigans and random NPC memories up for grabs. ))

Ah, 18. A social call, I hope?
no subject
Not really, Angela. [Good god, how does she say this and not sound absolutely insane? It's hard to do, but this school does things...]
You end up seeing these bubbles with memories in them? Let's start there.
no subject
They are...a supreme nuisance, yes.
no subject
Kind of... got one of your's. Something about a particular date and some flashes of what I can assume is a daemon. I know we... sort of decided to not talk about this shit, but if it's something bothering you to that extent... [She's frowning.]
Maybe it's a good time we actually do now that we're not a bunch of idiotic kids.

[Her voice cracks a little. She's gotten better about it, yes. But it never truly went away. And she knows 18 will be able to tell, and that she won't be able to wave it away and pretend it's nothing.]
It may re-contextualize some things for you, but it will not be a pleasant journey. Are you quite certain you want that?
no subject
I don't think there's much left to shock me anymore. But if it makes you feel better, I could... fill in some gaps of my own, since I know I've been evasive about more than my fair share.
no subject
[She sighs. There's nothing for it, then. She takes a steadying breath and turns her chair towards 18.]
You remember we met when I was in the group home? I was orphaned, at the time. It was the only available place for someone as young as I was. My parents were...I admit, I have never looked into why, but they were targeted by two daemons. I am sure that with your experience on the subject, you do not need to be told what happened to them past that, but I was...[She shakes her head.] The daemons left me alive, for some reason. I never knew why. Only that they surmised I would "suffer enough" and that they "didn't need to take me, too."
no subject
But she's silent throughout all of it, she knows full well what daemons are capable of at this point. And it... makes sense now that she looks back on it, she had better reasons to act as she had in the group home than she certainly did.
It's only after she's done that she's moving from her chair to tentatively try and give her a hug. It's odd, sure, but she's learned that at least some kind of physical contact can make someone feel better. And for someone she actually gives a shit about? It's worth it.]
Honestly... it explains a lot. But get this, as long as I have some kind of say in it, none of that is happening here, got it? [She did say she'd do what she could to protect the students here and that extends to anyone else that may need it.]
no subject
I know that, I think. On some level, I know you're right.
[But it hardly addresses the symptoms of the problem, unfortunately. Knowing that Daybreak is a place that daemons cannot touch - not the kind that take lives like that - does not bring her parents back or undo the years of damage and unprocessed grief that act caused. Angela takes a steadying breath.]
For what it's worth, that date hasn't crippled me in a long time. I have made progress in dealing with the fallout, of course time itself does a lot of work, but...it is a bit raw right now, I admit.
[Her eyes close for a long moment and when she opens them she somehow looks even more tired.]
Hieke saw it, too.
no subject
It's part of the reason she doesn't use her actual name anymore, truthfully.]
It's... not great that these memories are getting out there and letting people be intrusive on them. I've had one of mine already trampled into and I can't say I'm... particularly fond of which one it was.
[Hieke. That name is vaguely familiar.]
The... nurse? I don't know anything about him, truthfully.
no subject
He's...a daemon. [A small, shuddering breath.] Before he became a nurse at Daybreak he was, of all things, a contract maker. I saw a memory of him "reclaiming" a soul.
