Heaven or Hell - Let's rock vacation
Who: Ky Kiske, Open
When: All July
What: Faculty stuff storms
Warning: None
I. A Stormy Night in the tropics - Mid-july
[One thing about summer is thunderstorms, and this night was no different, thunder rolling across the sky, raindrops started to splatter and then pour, as clouds bright up with lightning.
Most people stay inside out of a sensible fear of being struck, but not Ky - for him this seems like a perfect time to take a stroll. Maybe he's just wired that way, or it's particular type of magic that thrums through his blood, but he always felt a mix of elation, joy and restlessness during such weather, and he felt no sense of danger.
But it's likely he's not the only person out, whether they're hurrying back to the hotel, sneaking out, or have noticed him and tried to get him to get back inside, he stops, pushing sopping wet hair from his face, smiling]
You really shouldn't be out here, it's not safe.
[Back at Campus - Late July]
[When they return, Ky was busy at work - either in his Office to work on the curriculum for next semester while listening to a power metal song, or he's out in the Mithral Cage teaching the students staying on campus to confront their elemental magic either as extra credit or as punishment for misbehavior.
Or he's in the Faculty Lounge to help coordinate class schedules and to be frank - discuss students and the administration]
A shave and a WHAT?! - Late July
[He can been seen wandering around Soliel on a day off - though it might be hard to recognize him at first as he recently chop his long tresses off to just below his chin. Every so often, he stops, running his fingers through his short hair, tilting his head, just astounded at how light it feels.
But a haircut wasn't the only thing he was out for, as he was stopping in a local tea shop, looking over the collection of tea sets thoughtfully, holding up a cup of one style, then another, deep in thought]

Faculty lounge
She hadn't really expected anyone to be here other than to grab something and leave, which is why she's just going to take a seat nearby and set down two different journals on the table.]
Back to the grind, then? [She had a vague idea about who he was, though everything had been... mostly a blur since her time getting here. Obnoxious, but to be expected from a place like this.]

A shave and a WHAT?!
My apologies, good sir~!
[Toki bows a little, and doesn't recognize the professor at all with his new haircut; even though he'd been in the man's office only days before. He points to one of the cups Ky's holding.]
That one is quite lovely!
no subject
Ah... Rikugou? well this is a nice cup, I agree.
[Ky just didn't expect to see Toki in a tea shop]
no subject
It's been a long time~!
[That works.]
I don't know much about tea sets, but I like the pattern!
no subject
[He pauses, touching his hair before sighing]
Am I really that unrecognizable with short hair?
no subject
Professor Kiske~! It changes your look dramatically~! I like it!
[Now that he recognizes Ky, he suspects the professor doesn't need his opinion on teacups.]
no subject
[He looks a bit sheepish at that, before looking at the pattern Toki had noticed, humming as he took a closer look at it]
It is a pretty unique pattern, and the colors aren't ones I have - I think I might actually purchase this one.
no subject
[He looks over a few other teacups, before deciding to ask for advice.]
Hypothetically, if I wanted a tea set that like exuded honor and tradition and things, but that's not exactly boring or common, something nice, but not too nice that you wouldn't actually use it for tea; what should I be looking for?
a shave and a what
Also, the mushrooms like it, so he tends to buy more than he needs. They like trying new blends all the time, so he makes a point to stop by the store every so often. He doesn't usually make small talk with the other people there, but...]
Oh! [He blinks up at Ky, holding a tin of some sort of black tea with fruit bits in it.] You got a haircut.
no subject
[Ky laughs sheepishly, glancing to the side]
I honestly meant to do it much sooner, and right now it was getting too unmanageable with the summer heat.
no subject
[Though he thinks it would take a lot to make Ky look bad.]
Are you going to grow it back out?
no subject
[He laughs sheepishly, ducking his head in slight embarrassment at the compliment]
So what brings you here?
no subject
[He looks down at the tea in his hand, raising it up.]
Shopping for tea. There's...a lot of options, though.

I
There's nothing for it, though, so here he is, out in the storm, carrying one anyway.
He almost misses Ky in the chaos of the weather, but his senses are sharp enough to notice him - it's not like he's limited by normal sight or hearing, after all. ]
I could say the same to you. [ Like he's not also out here, with an umbrella no less. ]
I do hope your ability to generate electricity protects you from being shocked by lightning, Mr Kiske. Not to mention whatever else gets thrown up by the storms here. Otherwise I might have a few words to say if you come limping back for treatment.
[ This is just how he has conversations, apparently. ]
Re: I
I'm... I believe the term is a 'faraday cage' when it comes to natural phenomenon like this, so I have little to fear from that.
[Though at the mention of the winds, the man does look around]
Well the winds are fairly calm, but I'll be certain to get in, I rather not receive two lectures in a month.

Does it feel good, when a storm rolls in like this? All the elemental mages I ever knew became very excitable around large amounts of their element, but I never felt the need to ask. [ He asks now, mostly because he's curious to know Ky's thoughts on it more than anything else. ]
no subject
It actually does... it's a little hard to describe how it does feel, it's like - the rush of a good exercise. Or when a good song comes on and you can just feel it go through you?
[He pursed his lips in thought]
1
When he hears Ky address him, he turns to face him, offering a smile.]
Ah, Professor... sorry to worry you. It's just... I dunno. Something in the air with the storm tonight?
Re: 1
The energy in the air? Yes, I think we're feeling the same sensation... it's a recorded phenomenon, known as 'Elemental Frisson'.
[Ky shivers as the lightning seem to split the sea, eyes closing for a moment - feeling that tingle going up his spine as he lets out a soft sigh]
no subject
[He actually looked a little surprised to hear that. But there was still a lot left for him to learn. Of course, that nearby lightning strike caught his attention, and he quickly turned to watch it cut through the air like a knife in an instant, and he could almost feel his hair stand on end. Not in fear, but... out of excitement?]
I've never felt anything like this before. Is this... kinda like being one with natural forces?
no subject
I was surprised to discover that was the case - it's something that seemed common among those with elemental magic... it really does feel like one's part of the storm.
no subject
Do you feel this way every time a storm rolls in, Professor?
