I know that classes were supposedly canceled over the summer and everything, but I have a little... inspiration, really, that might be of some interest to some of you. Just a little taste of the possibilities of what being able to manipulate and control ki can do for you.
I promise you, it's going to be an interesting time. I'll be waiting in the mythril cage and our location will be changing after... oh, probably an hour or so. Unfortunately it can't contain all of what I can show.
[Basic Ki and you, AKA: 18 showing off]
[True to her word, 18 can easily be found leaning against one of the walls of the Mythril Cage, arms crossed over her chest and a small smirk tugging at her lips. She'd meant to do this ages ago, but this seemed as good a time as any with tales of other faculty thinking it a good idea to have summer classes. She's going to be fair to anyone who wants to ignore it until the actual semester, certainly, but having a little bit of a head start never hurt anyone, right?
Her clothing is... honestly a little ridiculous, what with wearing an actual tracksuit. Which she probably should be burning up, but she seems perfectly fine and dandy for now.]
I'll take any questions anyone has, it's a lot better to go from there and work our way around and up instead of just throwing information at your faces. Or, well, that's what I think, anyway. [She's seen the opposite before and it doesn't really work, in her opinion.]

Basic Ki!
Do you want us to show what we can do as well? I've learned some Ki techniques, but nothing formal.
no subject
If you're going to be actually taking the class, then yes. Having at least some idea where you are on a base level lets me be a little more personal on where to go. If you already know some techniques with it, then you probably can skip over a few of the basics. [Probably, depending on how sloppy the technique and form is, but she's absolutely not her husband in that regard.]
How long have you known them?
no subject
Nothing formal... been learning since - middle school? Practicing pretty consistently, but not much in ways of getting taught.
no subject
To be fair, there's really no formal way to teach this. Everyone has their different reasons for figuring it out, but I can do my best with it. [She's one hundred percent not a master of this whole mess, but she's at least crafty about it.]
I'm guessing combat-focused?
no subject
A couple of my classmates have marital arts schools that have Ki-attacks, they just didn't work out for me... and that's right, mine's mainly for fighting. Can't fight the way the rest of my Clan can.
no subject
Your clan? [Not human, she's assuming, not many use the word clan for anything human-related anymore.]
Sorry about the twenty questions thing, but it's good to have some context. I'm not terribly familiar with most of the martial arts schools that integrate ki outside of the Turtle School. [Which is... a name in and of itself, really.]
no subject
[He shrugs, shaking his head at the apology]
It's okay. The school is 'anything goes', it's - chaotic. Most Ki I learned is from either meeting with other Ki users or from scrolls.
no subject
Honestly, that's how everyone learns about it. That's what the schools are really meant for since it's not too typical for someone to just figure out how to use ki on their own one day out of the blue. [Unlike her, but her case is entirely special and not something she'd really wish on anyone.]
If you've only used it for combat, then maybe it'd be best to focus on some building blocks that aren't necessarily combat? I'm sure you have some extra senses to work with already, but being able to sense ki properly wouldn't be a bad thing.
no subject
[His cheeks went pretty red all of a sudden, not finishing what he was going to say]
But what else would you have in mind?
no subject
The rest of it I'm going to need to see a demonstration on so I can go from there. Probably better to build on what you're lacking versus just assuming you know all the basics of it. [And easier to pick out what types of things might suit him better.]
Part of the reason I picked this place, honestly.
Basic Ki and you
He absolutely has a question, and opens his mouth the second 18's done speaking, but decides better of it and raises his hand. It's the proper way to do things, even though it wastes time.]
no subject
Nor did he really have to do that, but she can appreciate the gesture at the very least. Even if she's wondering what this kid is actually doing here, with the little bit of sensing she can actually do.]
Go ahead, what's your question?
no subject
[He throws a sideways glance at the guard.]
- or not exactly told, but it was totally implied that this was some sort of lecture and like, it's obviously not, because no one would lecture in the Mythril Cage, so I think I just answered that question myself, but the related and actually more relevant question here is what exactly is this uhh... chai? No, that's wrong- chi! Tai-chi? Wait, is this a martial arts class!?
no subject
And that last part is where she's slowly blinking at him. Toki, Toki please no.
She didn't get the memo on this kid.]
Ki, it's basically your life force energy and the energy of all the living things around you. It can be manipulated for martial arts if someone wanted to, but, again, it's not the only thing you can do with it. It's more... complicated than that. [Hell, her own energy isn't even ki, but it's close enough.]
no subject
I was severely misinformed of the subject of your class~! As it stands, regarding your comments on what one is capable of doing, unfortunately, no matter how much I'd love to learn these fighting techniques and the like, I cannot for medical reasons! So! Can I get credit for just listening to you talk about the life force energy parts!? Specifically, does this class count as like an additional credit- are classes even one credit, or are they like three? Anyway! Yes, additional credit on top of the already exempt summer classes, and with this potential credit, or credits, can I then use them for a substitution for the upcoming semester's classes should I fail one of those? Like a backup?
[There's an exasperated sigh from the guard.]
Anyway! I'm ready to learn about chai and energy manipulation~!
no subject
They aren't fighting techniques in and of themselves. Some have used it to heal people, for example, it's just that most of the people I live around and with use it to protect innocents from harm and deal with any potential threats that may come to pass.
Which, again, is only part of what it could do. [Meaning you aren't getting away with this shit, Toki, she's not about to get frustrated and she's not about to just give away free credit like this.]
But if you really think it won't do anything for you, you're free to leave, no hard feelings.
no subject
So... it's like an all-encompassing energy thing and you can do anything with it?
[He might be able to utilize this for something.]
no subject
Basically. Just to name a few things I've seen it used for there's adding more damage to attacks, healing, shield effects, flight capabilities... I'm sure there's more that could be done, but just haven't been attempted yet. [And if any other place is going to figure out some weird ways to apply it, she's certain it'll be Daybreak.]
no subject
[He's actually excited about this now, but it's likely short-lived.]
So how long will it take me to learn to shoot a laser beam of chi energy out of my eye!? While flying!?
no subject
Depends on how quickly you learn, but shooting anything out of your eyes is generally... ill advised. It's life energy, sure, but it still hurts like hell, or so I've heard. [She sure hasn't tried it, she's not a complete idiot like other people she could name.]
Flying's fairly simple once you get a handle on how to manipulate it on a basic level, so not too long on that one? [If Toki actually puts his mind to it, but she's giving him the... benefit of the doubt. For now.]
no subject
Flying it is, then! Okay.
[He gathers his thoughts and tries to focus more than he has been.]
I guess... it makes sense to start with like how the energy is... stored? Where to take it from? Maybe? I'm sorry, I don't really know what I'm do-
[Instead of freezing while he has a vision, this one is strange. Not a mix of reality and the imagery he'd experienced a couple of times, but a mental disconnect without a physical one. He stares blankly, seeing not 18 and the Mythril Cage; he is somewhere else...
Some sort of massive hallway of displays. It's cold, and ice adorns the walls and objects, spirals of frost creeping along, seeming to lead somewhere. Icicles hang down from the ceiling. He walks down the hallway and enters a room. A few people are frozen in ice; they had no time to run. Like he had seen at the archaeology site in another vision months ago. In the corner of the room, the ice is thicker, gathering almost, gathering around a shadow. Tendrils and amorphous blob of nothing, turning to more of a human-shaped entity. It wears a crown. The shadow's eyes open, piercing and bright and so red; they hurt to look at. An eerie laugh of a woman and a jangle of chains echoing in the cold.
... as the vision progresses, he wanders the Mythril Cage trailed by the guard, looking at things that aren't there, the icicles and the frozen people, and the crowned shadow. When he returns to the present, he's nowhere near where he started. A confusing development.]
no subject
She's raising a brow slowly at the guard as she keeps an eye on his wandering to just... let this play out and get involved if necessary.
But it doesn't seem like that's necessary.]
Admittedly, first time I've seen a seer having a vision in the wild. So, congrats, kid.
no subject
Uhh. Sorry about that... Now that I think about it, uhh, maybe... maybe flying isn't a good thing to try with well, that. But basics! That's what we were going for, right?
[He almost asks if "a seer in the wild" is impressive, but he expects it isn't.]
no subject
Basics. If nothing else, it's a good way to center yourself and be more in tune with your body. Or so I've seen and heard. [WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN, EIGHTEEN.]
no subject
Seen and heard? Are you even qualified for this? Are you even a professor!?
[The guard has had enough and brings up 18's Network post on his phone to show Toki.]
Oh... I apologize for that remark, Professor!
no subject
My secret's out, I don't actually use ki, I use something similar. It's still a type of life force energy, but I'm not... entirely organic anymore, which means my source of energy is a little different from everyone else's. It's the same concept and uses, just that mine doesn't actually... run out.
[That's ridiculous, stop it.]
I do know how it works and the intricacies with it, I've taught classes like this along with my husband, who is an exceedingly proficient and powerful user. I'd wager to say one of the most powerful humans on this planet, actually.
no subject
Are you a robot!? And like instead of... ki?... you have like a battery!? A nuclear battery that has a half life of like almost infinity!? Wait! You were... when you responded to my website, you said something about magitek! So you are a robot, kind of, but like not, because you didn't start out that way? You're a cyborg, like Professor Ziggy! Is everyone a cyborg!?
no subject
I'm a cyborg, yes. But not in the same sense as him, what was done to me was... more refined and not something I had any control over. Magitek more enhanced and changed some things instead of completely replacing every little part of my being. Physically, I'm flesh, bone, and blood like everyone else here, just with some extra things here and there. Unlimited energy being one of them, and it's not a battery.
[This whole thing is absolutely ridiculous, good grief.]
It has its good and bad parts, being able to just function off of water alone is one I can think of, for example.
no subject
Okay. That... makes sense. I won't ask any more questions; that's a violation of your privacy and I apologize.
[He hasn't forgotten her comments about magitek being used to turn people into weapons and puppets. The topic of 18's origins and composition is probably not something appropriate to discuss further.]
no subject
Which is exactly why she's shrugging it off.]
It's fine, the only reason I don't talk about it freely is that no one asks and I don't see a reason to bring it up. [As far as most people are concerned, she's a normal human most of the time, anyway.] I don't mind the questions.
no subject
Okay, but I don't have any more regarding those topics~! So! Where is this chi stored?
no subject
Back to the lesson, she supposes.]
There's a network of sorts in your body where it flows, each little bit of your body has some in it at some point or another. Like I said, it's life energy, more or less. Every person, animal, and plant has life energy stored in them.
no subject
And what does it feel like? So I can find it to like manipulate it?
Action
She hardly needed instruction on how
chiki manipulation worked, but she wanted to see how 18 did it. Seeing another school's methods was usually worthwhile.]no subject
Her attention shifts to the edge of the arena, a brow slowly raising in question. Of course she'd come around to observe, that just made sense to her.]
I do have to wonder if I might have a volunteer for a real demonstration, starting with just simple enhancement methods. No balls of energy or blasts here, for now, of course. [She's pretty sure it's just the school she knows of that tends to dabble in that sort of nonsense, so best to start things slow.]
no subject
Just as well, I think, I've never learned energy blasts. It's a technique practically DESIGNED for collateral damage.
no subject
< What's ki? Can anyone use it? >
no subject
And, honestly, a talking bird is not the weirdest thing she's ever come across.]
Basically it's life energy and I've yet to see someone be able to use it once they're taught. It just depends on how adept you can get with harnessing it. [Some people can't get past simple flight or maybe enhancing their natural abilities, but then there's those that can make it attacks all by themselves.]
no subject
< Life energy? So can it heal sick or injured people? >
