[In the last month, several new students have arrived amid the rush of summer vacation. Cancelled classes leave a lot of free time for those who remained on campus, while others are returning from a less-than-vacation in Florida. Toki has taken it upon himself to organize a social event for the new students to meet people, and for those coming back from missions, a relaxing night. In the third week of August, colorful flyers spring up across campus. Bright greens and pinks with bold black lettering announcing:

MOVIE NIGHT!!!

Lumière Common Rooms
~ REFRESHMENTS PROVIDED ~

Upon entering the first floor of Lumière, students will be directed to the refreshments area in the kitchen. There's a carnival-themed popcorn stand with a red and white striped awning. It's manned by golems, who will provide giant tubs of gourmet popcorn, drizzled in your choice of butter, caramel, chocolate, or any combination thereof. Next to the popcorn stand is a long table with red buckets full of jumbo sized movie theater boxes of candy: licorice, gummy things, chocolate covered mints, a wide variety. A self-serve soda machine sits next to the buckets with plastic cups of various sizes and a selection of flavors: orange, grape, lemon-lime, and root beer.

On the other side of the popcorn stand is a large sandwich board sign. It states:

No other details are provided on which movies will be shown. The common rooms are set up with comfortable folding chairs and a large projector screen.]

[The golems don't really acknowledge his comments, but he feels they deserve praise anyway. He takes his tub of popcorn with butter and caramel and hands it to his guard, so he can pick through the bucket of candy for something interesting. Chocolate nonpareils; those will do. He likes the bead things on top. He grabs a second box, intending to mix them into the popcorn. He can't be trusted not to spill drinks from a self-serve machine or somehow break the thing, so that's Marcel's task.

After obtaining a sufficient amount of snacks, they head to the third floor. For some reason, when it's a movie, Toki loves to be scared. He's never seen Nightmare on Oak Lane, but he was assured by Marcel when he selected it that there were no space clowns involved. He shudders at the memory of that horrible Killer Klowns film as he finds a seat in the common room. It's near the back, so he can be easily removed from the room if necessary. He opens the first box of nonpareils and upends it into the popcorn tub, while Marcel affixes the leash to his chair. The guard's not staying for this horror shit, opting to hang out in the hallway. After Marcel leaves, Toki offers his popcorn/candy mix to whoever's nearby.]

Do you want some!?

[The chocolate's melting into the butter-caramel topping.]

[ ana is here with popcorn, and she seems very, very invested in the movie. so invested that she hardly ever blinks. it's a little frightening, but she's clearly enjoying herself.

when a jump scare happens, she doesn't even flinch. instead...

she just laughs, brightly and freely. ]

Oh, this movie is wonderful! Don't you think so?

[Lia claps a bit, a wide smile across her face. She did, admittedly, startle a little at the jump scare, but once she recovers...]

It's absolutely delightful!

Floor 4: Fantasy // Goblin Maze

[Fantasy might be cool, and he's half expecting all those used to the real deal to be nitpicky about Hollywood Style Magic, which sounds funny as hell.

Who knows who let him in? He's taken a perch on the back of a chair, and no snacks for obvious reasons. He's not one to talk during movies, knowing how annoying that can be, but at one point, something very important must be said...]

[ James technically knows that they have a bird student. There has been an announcement over the network after all! But with all the silence, he'd just kind of assumed this hawk to be someone's familiar and hearing the voice reverb in his head makes him jump.

[ This movie sounds super weird and Minako is here for it. It's a little weird to watch it with a bird in the next seat over, but maybe they like movies too, she's not going to judge.

Tossing a piece of popcorn into her mouth, she gives it a quiet munch before leaning towards her new avian pal; ]

[He settles for an epic death glare instead. But really, that's just his normal face.]

[ James is trying to come in casually. He's dressed down in a very casual outfit, just minding his own business with his soda and popcorn, trying to find a seat...

... only that the second he comes through the door an inexplicable wind brings a flurry of pink rose petals blowing into the room. ]

... shit.

[ The curse is under his breath, when he looks up he just smiles apologetically. ]

Sorry, still getting used to this. I hope nothing landed in anybody's drink...

[ speaking of things landing in people's drinks...

nadia plucks a rose petal out of hers and holds it up towards him. look, it's hilarious that he's all decked out in fancy gear now, but still. ]

[ This movie is so realistic?! Look, there are even rose petals dancing through the air.

[ Remarks someone from the front row who just got a face full flower petals. Oh god they're even in her popcorn. She doesn't need thisuch immersion! ]

[ Oh god, he hates this! Well, he doesn't hate it, winning his spot in the electrion has been an honor, but.... When the flurry of petals finally stops whirling around him, he dares walk over to check on Minako. ]

I'm so sorry, are you alright?

[Yuya just dusts the flower petals off the arm of the couch, barely containing the amusement on his expression.]

Thanks... I'm really happy, I swear, but this.. this is making it hard to look dignified.

[ And it's not been long, but he's just sincerely getting irritated... With the petals calming down, James comes to sit by Yuya and sighs. ]

[ Movies are cool! But you know what's more important? Building the best bucket of popcorn Daybreak has ever seen. Few are brave enough to take up the challenge, but thankfully your resident human garbage disposal hungry wildcard is here to get the ball rolling.

Toppings? Yes.
Candy? Yes.
Toppings and candy together. Very yes.

So here is Minako, carefully balancing a mountain of popcorn covered in all the toppings.... and some gummi bears and other candies, for good measure. Go big or go home. Seeing someone who looks like they might be staring, Minako looks down at this culinary disaster in a tub before offering it out to them. ]
