Snow in the Summer

What: A mission to stop a queen who just can't let it go.
Where: A museum ice manor in Germany, August 20th.

"I got one..." it was not one of the runic ones, but it had been holding up, at least before they got closer to the manor.

Honestly, if she would just use the hood it might make a load of difference. But do you know how easy to is and how awkward it looks to have wear a hat and a hood at the same time? It's not.

Although if Héctor was going to fuss, she might at least attempt to bring it further up. Apparently, she might need it after all.

He smiles a little as she tugs her hood up. It's not enough to fix the problem but it's nice to see the effort made.

He says, "A lot of body heat is about protecting your heart, keeping it moving and all that good stuff. That's why, it's your toes, fingers, and ears that get cold first, following the rest of your head-- your heart is borrowing the warmth there to protect itself. And that's why if you cover that stuff, you heat up fast. So for example, if you've got big ears, like me-" A little joke, hopefully to ease some tension. "-you've got to get those covered up first."

He finishes with her jacket, everything zipped and tucked as much as it can be. He rises to stand and gestures with a thumb at the pile of rune-wear. "We should find you some kind of scarf or ear muffs. I think that's what they're called. Make sure your gloves are good enough and your boots too."

The scarf and ear muffs should be fine. She was kind of inching away from the gloves and the boots was just a bit excessive. She still had to move somehow.

"...Do you ever get cold?" She had to ask.

"I do," He admits. "Actually, I find a lot of the weather here pretty chilly. In México, it's much warmer." He smiles down at her. He can guess where this line of questioning is going.

"But, even if I feel it, it can't hurt me. My heart doesn't need heat, or my brain, and if any part of me freezes, I can change and move like that. No worry about frostbite. Just shivers."

Which he hates but nevertheless.

It's interesting that he would feel but also not be affected by it. Puella can't imagine what that must be like. Other than either the best or worst thing ever. Being able to go outside regardless whatever time of the year.

Puella did love the summer time most. It was the warmest and somehow never bothered her as much as others, and generally cold weather wasn't too bad either. She never really did understand why that was, but then she never thought about it much either.

At least, not much until now. While looking down at her hands.

"...I think my magic keeps me warm too." Flames were essentially like spectral fires. Puella was already well aware that Radiance was pretty warm, and if that's what Flames were mostly made out of she was probably pretty warm herself.

It was no different than the effect a knife in him would. It would hurt, he might even bleed, but it'd be nothing he couldn't fix. Of course, that's not a comparison he intends to share with her.

His brows go up at her confession. His gaze drops to her hands too.

"You think so?" He asks. And then his hand opens by hers. "Can I feel?" He's not sure he'll be able to tell the difference. Then again he might be the most likely. The Radiance being like a sun would explain the way it feels like a burn.

Puella looked up at him for a moment. Héctor has hold and hugged her before so there was probably nothing to worry about, but somehow she was feeling a bit cautious anyway. In the end she put both of her tiny hands into his larger one. It's not exactly sure if he could feel a difference if it doesn't hurt him.

He expects her caution. A refusal would not be out of the question, bringing up contact and flame in the same breath. But she places her hands in his. For a brief moment, there's a pang nothing at all to do with Radiance, then his fingers close around hers.

He closes his eyes and waits a moment. Then he nods and smiles down at her.

"I think you're right. You do seem pretty warm. Especially considering how cold it is here. That's pretty neat. Probably part of why your hugs are very good." He nods sagely.

Good. She is glad that there wasn't any negative effects.

"Grimm is really warm too!" Possibly even more so. He actually uses fire and all. "Maybe it's just a Candle thing."

"...It's too bad he couldn't come." Seeing that everything is made out of ice and all, she bets he could melt it all in seconds.

"Is he? Hm." He hadn't thought the guy a candle. But then again, he hadn't really known what the guy was. An immortal. Possessed in some way. He'd never actually asked outright.

"I heard there were some rough times back at the school while I was away. He probably needed some time to recover or help out. Things like that." He doesn't actually know. "We'll be alright. We've got a good team here. Real smart. And we have you."

Wait - so she was truly accepted by the team? And important at that. Avery is going to love to hear that.

"I'll do my best!" Puella did come prepared. Alas, her time powers were still a rough work in progress.

...Maybe she can also burn through ice though. She honestly never thought of doing that before.

Avery would not love to hear that. And, more than likely, the team was going to worry about keeping her safe and alive, but the kid is here and there's no sense in making her feel bad about it.

Puella actually was more than capable of handling things a lot of the time.

"I know you will," He says. "And you'll still be careful, right?"
