What: The school year is starting, which means it's time for physicals! Also, free food for the staff.
Warnings: There might be some references to injuries and other traumas in the physicals, but nothing major.

the infirmary;
[It's the start of a new month, and the start of the new school year. Everyone - student and staff alike - will receive notice that they're due for a new physical, so if they could please report to the infirmary at their earliest convenience, that would be appreciated. They can try to avoid their physicals, but that just means being hunted down by Ekkehardt, and nobody wants that, now do they?

Arriving to the infirmary will find it's been redecorated for the fall. Gone are the vibrant Outlands flowers, and in are some pots of what look to be...mushrooms? And some tiny pumpkins. Hieke's trying his best, okay.

The daemon is there, like always, and he looks up whenever anyone enters and motions for them to step into a small room that...doesn't seem to have been there before?]

This won't take long.

the lounge;
[Hieke is someone who makes good on his challenges. He said he could make better food than what was served to them at the meetings, and he's going to make good on that. So, come September, staff will find the lounge has been stocked with all manners of treats, ranging from sweet to savory. All of them are expertly crafted with the sort of quality that can only come with dedicating your entire life to learning how to cook, and having that life span centuries.

Or, for the tl;dr version, it's all really fucking good.]

[Hieke doesn't often seem smug - hell, he barely seems confident, but this has brought out his stubbornness.]

elsewhere;
[Hieke is generally always available, and can be found at other places around campus. He still frequents the library and can occasionally be found walking his mushrooms at night. Generally, if you need him, he's there.

[Desidera goes to the infirmary within about an hour of receiving the notice, knocking lightly at the door to announce her arrival as she steps inside. She looks around at the decorations, noting that some of those mushrooms look like they're wiggling around in their pots, before catching sight of Hieke and following his direction to enter the other room.

She's not aware that the room hadn't been there before, so its existence doesn't get any noticeable response out of her.]

[Normally, Toki would have forgotten this physicals summoning minutes after receiving it, but he has Marcel around to keep track of things. As a result, he's here the next day, early in the morning. He waves at the cute little potted mushrooms, picturing them growing up to color with crayons and bake cakes like their older brethren.]

Hieke~! Hello! I brought you something~!

[It's another painting of mushrooms. Toki frowns a little at the appearance of the new room, but doesn't say anything, because it could have been there all along and he never noticed it.]

[ Not wanting your simple, painless checkup? Ekkehardt will find you and attempt to convince you to come in. Failing that, he may actually drag you there, which would be embarrassing for you, and is something he's reluctant to do, but.....

He'll do it if he has to. ]

[They very much don't want a simple, painless checkup. Hieke already scanned them once and that was enough, thank you very much. Nekane got the notice and promptly got rid of it.

But the problem is they had work they had to do at the school itself that they can't do in their apartment and staying in their office leaves them as a sitting duck for one of the staff to poke in. And more importantly they can't go into the library if they stay cooped up.

Dilemma. But if they're careful then maybe they'll have a chance of getting and out quickly.

At least until they see Ekkehardt round the corner and they promptly try to backtrack the way they came. Sorry, they forgot something in their office, be right back!]

[Lin didn’t fight it. She respected doctors and healers too much. The only problem was that Heike was using magic to do the physicals, and Lin’s body was highly resistant to magic. She sat still and cooperated, but no matter how many times he tried it he got nonsensical results, like he was scanning a houseplant or a table instead of a human being.]

[Well, the thing is, none of that actually happens? Hieke was informed well ahead of time who's resistant to magic - Bai Lin isn't alone in that, after all, and there's no point wasting his time or ability.

So instead, what happens when she shows up is Hieke looks up at her, turns to rifle through a stack of papers, before finding the right one and grabbing a pen.]

Alright, so, we can't do this the standard way, so instead what we're going to do is ask some questions. Well. Question. Just the one.

If a fight were to occur anytime in the near future, do you feel fit to join it?

Good afternoon.

[He claps his hands together.]

This is going to be a pretty simple affair - I'm going to scan your general physical condition, and you'll be on your way. It shouldn't take more than a couple seconds.

[Mainly because as he's talking, he's already scanning for her, looking for anything that would be classified as abnormal or strange.]

Oh, thanks.

[He looks at the painting, before reaching out to take it. He's a little surprised by it, but...

He'll take it.]

Do you have time to do your physical?

[You can never be sure with Toki.]

I don't know. How long does it take? Is that what I'm here for? I didn't read the message.

[He was merely informed he needed to be here for some reason.]

And uhh... what is it, this physical?

Ah, hello.

[Whether it's something Hieke would consider 'abnormal' is for him to decide, but Desi's red eyes and horns? If it wasn't obvious enough just by looking at her normally, those are the result of a partial daemonic corruption. It's one she's had her entire life, if he can tell that much as well. If he looks closely enough, scanning or not, he may see that the horns have been deliberately rounded so that the points aren't sharp.

With all of that taken into account, her physical condition is otherwise actually pretty good. Better than average for a human, because she is human, yes, but not completely human—and basically never was. She's also slightly above the average weight for someone of her size, but that seems to be mostly muscle.

Magically, if he's checking her condition in that regard as well? She's well above the average, for reasons that are probably obvious.

It's after those couple seconds he needs that her response comes.]

Alright, that sounds simple enough.

[you wouldn't drag a child, would you?

...Though depending on things, he may realize he doesn't have to. As much as Charlotte is determined to avoid going in, ducking out of sight and dodging what faculty she can, Ekkehardt might be one of the ones that can more easily ping her as an undead construct, rather than a little girl or a vampire or whatever lie she felt like perpetuating that week. There's a lot of willpower in this one, but in the end she's still a golem, and golems are designed to obey.

So what'll it be when you set your sockets on the fifteen-year-old apparently allergic to color, Ekke?]

[Much to pretty much everyone's surprise, Maverick drops by the infirmary with only his hands in his pockets as a sign of reluctance. He's not even really frowning! A miracle.]

'Sup, Doc.

[It's...weird, now. Especially considering nothing of their time in Japan has been threaded, so who knows just how grateful and ashamed Maverick really has to be? No matter what, though, it's certainly true that gratefulness and shame are in a healthy...unhealthy? supply. So: help rescue someone's stupid jackass of a boyfriend, get him showing up without complaint for physicals or maybe a magic lesson. Either way, 'sup.]

[Physicals! V hasn't had one of these in a long time, and he realizes it's generally a good idea so he'll roll on by fairly early on, cane in hand.]

Good morning, Hieke.

[Who would have ever expected Jolyne to not have to be dragged kicking and screaming for this physical shit? Physically she knows she's pretty much fine, mentally and emotionally is another story. But no one asked that, so this is chill enough.

She's yawning as she's wandering in, stretching her arms above her head for a brief second to try and get her blood moving.]

So how's this shit work? Like last time I dealt with one, it involved all kinds of not pleasant taking things off, kinda hoping that's not the case here. [She could still do that, but they have magic, why not use it?]

'Sides, other than the lasting scars and shit, pretty sure I'm fine.

[Kokoro stands stiffly, nodding a greeting.]

Renovations, then?

I don't see why this has to be so difficult...

[ He mutters somewhat aggressively as he spots Nekane backing up. No, he's spotted you already, you don't get to get away that easily. He's following you, Nekane! ]

[Ky arrives as scheduled, his hair had grown out to his shoulder blades since he had it cut a few months ago]

What do I need to do for this?

[ Golems might be designed to obey, but considering she's an undead construct in the shape of a child, he feels like nothing good was involved in the circumstances of making her. Thus, he'd prefer not to try and lean on a weakness she's probably aware of.

So, instead of doing that, he talks to a seemingly empty room. ]

I did see you come in here. Are you going to come out, or will I have to hunt for you?

[The silence sings back, work for it, bitch.]

[ He knew it would come to this......

He strolls around the classroom's edge first, seemingly not paying attention to the rest of the room. He could probably just cut straight to the chase, but he prefers to play along before thinking of using force. ]

Now, I wonder where someone could be hiding...

[Yeah, that is a no with a side of fuck off in Nekane's opinion. They can't fly anymore but they can do the next best thing: take a sudden turn and jump out the window.

It's the first floor so nothing terrible happens. But they're running as fast as they can, which is fairly fast for someone with as bad of health as they have.

Ekkehardt's going to have to take them in over their cold, dead and desecrated body, damn it!]

[She's had years of practicing her little disappearing act, and while she looks young she isn't exactly giggling to herself like a little kid that thinks they're just soooo sneaky... That said, there are only so many places you can hide in a classroom, even if it's a magical one. Maybe...

After a pause, there's a soft, rusting scratching noise from across the room. Investigate, y/n?

[Go ahead and try. He refuses to have weird people all up in his business, poking and prodding.]

[It's not like he gets sick anyway!!]

[ WHAT IS IT WITH THIS SCHOOL AND PEOPLE JUMPING OUT OF WINDOWS.

He puts the sounds together as they're happening and leaps out the window after them. Being undead and lighter, and used to running, he's got some advantages going for him that Nekane doesn't on flat ground.

He's gaining, at least. ]

[ He thinks that's just a little too convenient, to be honest. But he doesn't show any outward signs of it; he just adjusts his path so it takes him towards the direction of the sound to investigate, keeping alert for any other movement.

He hums, a little, apparently deep in thought. ]
