Really, Ky wasn't sure about the idea, and once he saw a certain spirit signing up, he felt he had to at least provide some balance. Posters were put up for would be interested parties to pitch their clubs in lieu of doing paperwork for this week only.

"I wonder if we'll get anyone who rather do this than submit the paperwork." he noted to the other two.

FACE THE JUDGES!

The set up was almost like a show, a long table with three chairs for the "Judges", with two folding chairs and an easel for any visuals facing them.

The pitch should be simple, telling what the club is called, it's purpose, and what if any budget concerns they might need, followed by questions and comments.

Debate Club

[Toki is here for one reason only, but he's done his research on this to make it viable. He's accompanied by Marcel of course, the guard carrying a hot pink poster board. Toki steps to the center of the room, projecting as much charisma as he can, while hoping the professors have taken to ignoring the leash entirely by now.]

Greetings, respected professors and most honorable judges~! I present to you a proposition for a vital club that will bring much needed accreditation to our academy and vault Daybreak into the high standing of other magic schools, such as our greatest rival Oxford~!

[They're probably not rivals at all, but it doesn't matter. The speech is purely for effect.]

I submit to you, the wonders of~ Debate Club! Marcel, if you please!

[Marcel sighs and holds up the poster board. Toki points to the words as he talks about them. They're written in bold black marker and have glitter around them.]

Debate Club, first and foremost, will have a very small, even close to infinitesimal budget! There are practically no costs with this choice, as participating in debates with other schools is completely unnecessary!

Second, Debate Club is educational! It teaches students how to form their arguments and counter-arguments in a concise and easily flowing manner in a short amount of time! We all know the tragic tales of having to sit through an two hour assembly, don't we? Not with the Debate Club! Five minutes a topic, then you're done! That's a win!

Students will also be learning the important skill of public speaking! So many of my fellow students are woefully unprepared in this area. They lack the confidence to speak to authority figures, and to say what they actually mean, even to their peers! Debate Club will give those who are struggling the self-confidence needed to succeed in several respectable careers!

The most important outcome of this club is that it gives students a venue to express their opinions on varied topics without interruption or fear that their voices will be shut down or ignored. For, to make a counter-argument, you must first listen to the original statement!

[He bows slightly as Marcel lowers the ridiculous sign.]

Host Club (I had to)

[Oh boy, he'd only been here for a week (if that) and already they had given him this wonderful opportunity. Which is why he's totally pretending he's prepared with pictures of the club at Ouran in various functions and the day-to-day with the different costumes and such. Which he helpfully printed out, yep.]

I know it's not normal for someone this new to the school to come asking about a club, but I assure you this is no ordinary club. Now, hosts aren't a new thing in Japan by any means, and having a host club here in this school would certainly get some talk going about how this school could have the only one in France, or probably in Europe, honestly.

Now, some might have heard some seedier things about host clubs, but I assure you that's not true here. The purpose is to entertain and to make those people who come to the club feel special and to lift their spirits in various ways! Usually with the assistance of one of the hosts, who each have a different type of personality.

The budget wouldn't really need to be footed by the school unless they wanted to help with the large scaled events, as I do have access to enough funds to work with it myself. And, for what it's worth, I was the president of the one in my old school as well. I'd simply need to have a place to work with and permission to put up information about events and the like around campus.

What is there to lose, really?

I'm gonna need you to define "entertain" here, kid. Been a while since I've been in one sober enough to remember it, but I'm pretty sure host clubs usually to mean flirting with the customers? You're underage, so that's gonna make for some real fuckin' dubious PR if it gets out, 'specially if any of the staff visit.

[She squints at the photos.] ...Plus, even if you make this students-only, you got, like. Zero ladies in those pics? Not all your classmates are gonna be into dudes, c'mon. You gotta diversify a little there.

Admittedly, I'd have to change things a little bit here due to there being adults in this place. But that's an easy enough fix, just cut out the flirting and make it more based around just having someone to talk to, play games with, that sort of thing! Which we... did do on top of the flirting bit, but that was also... [He trails off with a shrug.] Not a hard thing to change. [It was mostly just Him.]

Ah, see, that's another thing I was going to work on. There had been no call for having female hosts where I was at, but in a place like this, it's absolutely a possibility that I'm more than willing to work on!

Typically they're something of a place for someone to go to be on something of a date with one of the hosts there. But given this is a school, the definition is a little different. We had a group that would entertain, primarily the girls of the school though we really didn't discriminate, just that no males really tended to come around, in various different manners. Whether it was just someone to talk to, having some tea or coffee with, little snacks, games, that sort of thing.

Primarily a social club, we also tended to put on various events with a good bit going to charities as well. [Because everyone in that school was rich as fuck, but details.]

So here's the deal: I want to have space and resources to work on restoring a goddamned bike. I don't care if other people are involved, but having a garage area to work on bikes and cars and shit sounds like a great idea?

Because, honestly, I can do this the legal way or I can do this the illegal way. And which would this school rather me do, honestly?

[Lia, overachiever that she is, actually has a tray with two plates for each judge on hand for herself to pass out (though, she'll wait for one plate to be finished off before she hands over the other).

One of the plates has quiche bites and chicken spring rolls, the other has a variety of smaller pastries on it. It's clear from the taste she definitely brought her A-game there, and she worked hard on the presentation.]

I would have brought more, but it would've been far, far too much to carry.

No no no, this one's not about the Cooking Club, and also without a musical number, because, it is deeply serious. Also I decided to do this just now and I'm totally unprepared, please grant me mercy points for my honesty.

We've got like, minorities of course, then there's a whole other circle on the Venn diagram for us non-humies? You know how tiring it is to have people just look at you funky? Even if you know they can't help it?

We need a group for our own normal, yeah? I mean, I didn't wanna be the one to have to do it! But I entered and it wasn't already in existence so I guess I have to. Feeling alone sucks aaaa [ whoops, faculty, wording swap! ] lot!

I know I haven't been the best student, but I'm serious about this. I don't want folk feeling lonely as I have if I can help it. We just need a room and the school's support, and maybe not have to be guarded like we're a danger to everyone around us so long as we're having our meetings. That's all I really want. We didn't ask to be different. Well, most of us. I guess Contracted non-humans are a tricky subject.

Not gonna lie, feels a little awkward that the panel getting to decide if this is gonna be a thing is... [Iffy handwaggle because Avery's species is Complicated and she's not going to ask.] ...I'm gonna say two-thirds humans? Seems kinda weird, considering.

But I guess that's a decent argument all by itself for why there should be a club for this, so points for that, it's a legit issue.
