CLASSES BEGIN

CLASSES BEGIN
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation
Despite… other disturbances, the flow of time is inexorable. And so too, is the beginning of classes. The bells of Daybreak Academy peal joyfully as students are roused from their beds far earlier than they would prefer to attend their new classes. The Professors, of course, are also back in it, their classrooms (presumably) neatly dusted and arranged for the fresh new faces of this year’s crop, eager and ready to learn. Presumably.
A. OPENING BANQUET
As is the custom of Daybreak, a grand sumptuous banquet has been prepared for the night following the first day of classes. With entire pigs spit-roasted over open flame, chicken and beef of all sorts, juices, wines and beers from all over Europe, and of course the best breads and chocolates as befits a French school, the banquet is truly one for the record books. Of course, they say that every year.
B. SYLLABUS HANDOUTS
Most teachers at this point are handing out the syllabi for their next class, although a few more aggressive ones may have already launched fully into teaching. If you have questions about this quarter’s curriculum, now’s the time to voice it.
C. MEET AND GREET
With the new school year comes new opportunities to forge lifelong friendships. And what better way to do that than by partaking in cheesy icebreakers courtesy of your RAs? While hardly mandatory, RAs are highly encouraged to turn out their entire floor by being as annoyingly peppy and persistent as possible. At a school like this, it’s important to make new friends!
D. SOMETHING BLEW UP AGAIN
Daybreak Academy is a bit of an unusual school by any conventional standards. Daemons, fairies and youkai studying alongside humans that can call upon arcane power and bring forth divine light are hardly your usual fare. And this, of course, means that it’s usually a matter of hours before something blows up somewhere on campus. For new students, this might be a startling, shocking experience. For seasoned students, well, it’s just that time again.
E. WILDCARD
For anything else that doesn’t fit in with any of the above prompts.

[If she's got it bad enough that she has to pass on most or all of the things that are here...yeah, that's actually super rough, and it's more than reasonable to assume that there's stuff she can handle being stored back in her own room or something.
Desi also assumes that the stuff Adelaide had made before would be safe for herself.]
Are you here because everyone else is, then? [Or maybe her attending this event is mandatory due to being on the student council? Desi does recognize that sort of uniform; Nana had been wearing hers while running the Banana Stand, and she had indicated that she was the council's president.]

Little bit of that, little bit of obligation. They didn't say we had to come, but...the student council is helping run these things, so...
[She shrugs one shoulder, brushing away a rose petal.]

[If or when the truth comes out, Desi...would probably be pretty understanding, really, as far as why the lie was told in the first place. She'd certainly be passing herself off as a normal human if she were able, but she's no good with glamours, so instead, everyone gets to see the pointed ears, the red eyes and the horns, and she just hopes that most don't take some sort of issue with it or ask too many questions.
Speaking of asking about things, she hadn't bothered doing so with Nana before, but she's curious:] Are the rose petals a thing that just...happens, with the student council? It was happening with Nana too, except hers were red, not yellow.

[At least Desi - and Adelaide both - are in relatively good company. It's actually shockingly hard for people to act on their hatred for the non-human when so much of the staff at Daybreak isn't human.
That's one way they're lucky.
She tilts her head, laughing a bit.]
Yeah, as far as I can tell, the roses are part of the package. Different colors for each position, too. Yellow means I'm the treasurer. Nana's the president, so she gets red. I think James is pink and Ren is orange.
[Which...isn't an explanation of their positions. She doesn't even know if Desi knows James or Ren, either.]
Rex and Kohaku got white.

[She has met Rex—stumbled upon him working on one of his projects on one of her first days here—but not any of the others. She'll meet them eventually, possibly over the course of today's events, she figures, so doesn't see any particular need to ask "who?" right now.]
What do the other colors mean?
