Despite… other disturbances, the flow of time is inexorable. And so too, is the beginning of classes. The bells of Daybreak Academy peal joyfully as students are roused from their beds far earlier than they would prefer to attend their new classes. The Professors, of course, are also back in it, their classrooms (presumably) neatly dusted and arranged for the fresh new faces of this year’s crop, eager and ready to learn. Presumably.

A. OPENING BANQUET

As is the custom of Daybreak, a grand sumptuous banquet has been prepared for the night following the first day of classes. With entire pigs spit-roasted over open flame, chicken and beef of all sorts, juices, wines and beers from all over Europe, and of course the best breads and chocolates as befits a French school, the banquet is truly one for the record books. Of course, they say that every year.

B. SYLLABUS HANDOUTS

Most teachers at this point are handing out the syllabi for their next class, although a few more aggressive ones may have already launched fully into teaching. If you have questions about this quarter’s curriculum, now’s the time to voice it.

C. MEET AND GREET

With the new school year comes new opportunities to forge lifelong friendships. And what better way to do that than by partaking in cheesy icebreakers courtesy of your RAs? While hardly mandatory, RAs are highly encouraged to turn out their entire floor by being as annoyingly peppy and persistent as possible. At a school like this, it’s important to make new friends!

D. SOMETHING BLEW UP AGAIN

Daybreak Academy is a bit of an unusual school by any conventional standards. Daemons, fairies and youkai studying alongside humans that can call upon arcane power and bring forth divine light are hardly your usual fare. And this, of course, means that it’s usually a matter of hours before something blows up somewhere on campus. For new students, this might be a startling, shocking experience. For seasoned students, well, it’s just that time again.

Banquet
[It's definitely not unusual to see Lia with a giant plate of food at these banquets. Her plate is stacked high with all sorts of food that.... well, she's almost eagerly digging into. What might strike people as odd is the way Lia will take a bite or two, frown thoughtfully while chewing, then jot down something in a notebook nearby.

What the hell is she doing.]

Meet and Greet
[It's icebreaker game time and the name of the game is two truths and a lie. Honestly, it's not so bad. Lia actually doesn't mind this one.]

Let's see... I did ballet when I was a kid, I love mystery novels, aaaaand... while I can stand the heat inside of a kitchen, I'm very bad with it outside!

[Anyone that interacted with Lia regularly before Jail installed the air conditioning can definitely already pick out one of the truths.]

Ka-boom!
[Honestly, the explosion doesn't even register immediately to Lia. It's only when a new student gives a startled shout that Lia looks up, seeming rather calm.]

Oh, are the explosions starting already? That didn't take long.

Club Recruitment
[Looks like Lia's got a table with food set up again... Except this time it's actually a booth! There's a sign with Cooking Club hanging above, samples of pastries both sweet and savory set out in front of her, and a stack of fliers, each reading:
Enjoy cooking? Join the club!
Cooking club is a place to have fun doing something you enjoy, share the results of your craft with others, and enjoy the sense of community that food brings.
You don't have to be an experienced cook to join! Lessons for those interested can be provided.
Cooking club can also provide food to other clubs for events and the like! Please contact club president Lia Brooks (Network UN: Galanthusnivalis) if you'd like to arrange something!

Anyone stopping by to have a look will be greeted with a grin and a wave from Lia.]

[Maybe Lia's just happy to once again have someone here that she knows from her Mundane Years, and no amount of mutual banning from these games can diminish that.

As far as the game itself goes, Becky's now taken to glancing between some of the other students, waiting for one of them to try giving Lia an answer. Anyone?]

[Toki probably doesn't have the time for a second club, but... he can make time, pretty much. He can move all his studying into a little superspeed window and it will be fine. He can do all the things.

He waves at Lia as he approaches the table. He hasn't come across her since his awkward apology over the website, but that ended well he'd thought.]

Hello~! How are you~!? So! I mentioned this to like Adelaide one time that I wanted to learn to cook things because it's kind of like chemistry and it can't be that hard, and we really need some more variety around here! I mean, like, oh my god, Nana, I love banana bread as much as the next person, but there is another flavor! Right!?

[He picks up a small pastry to try.]

[Lia waves back, smiling.]

Well, the club will be offering lessons for those who want to learn. Plus, providing things besides banana.

[The pastry he's picked up is a small apple turnover! Lia grins a bit.]

Banana's nice, but not always season-appropriate.

I might check it out then, if there's lessons. I don't want to blow things up by accident!

[He prefers doing that on purpose. He takes a bite of the turnover. It's flaky and not too sweet, a good combination.]

This is really good, did you make it?

[A turnover is something different from his usual finds of Nana's banana themes and Adelaide's cookies.]

Banana's more of a summer flavor maybe~!

[He's not really up on the seasonal trending foods, though.]

[ Vivi has set his plate near Lia, and while his plate isn't piled as high as hers, he's definitely eating his way through it all at a steady rate.

He swallows before speaking, peering over as he does so, because it's rude to talk with your mouth full. He's retained that much. ]

What're you doing?

[She swallows the bite of food she's taken before beaming at Vivi.]

Testing myself! Sort of, at least. I could probably ask staff about how stuff's made for the banquet, but it's kind of fun to try figuring it out for myself.

Oh! That makes a lot of sense...cooking's about taste testing, too.

[ He takes a bite of something, chewing carefully. It takes him a moment to voice any thoughts. ]

When you're trying to work out how something's cooked...it kinda tastes different to me. Do you get that too?
