Despite… other disturbances, the flow of time is inexorable. And so too, is the beginning of classes. The bells of Daybreak Academy peal joyfully as students are roused from their beds far earlier than they would prefer to attend their new classes. The Professors, of course, are also back in it, their classrooms (presumably) neatly dusted and arranged for the fresh new faces of this year’s crop, eager and ready to learn. Presumably.

A. OPENING BANQUET

As is the custom of Daybreak, a grand sumptuous banquet has been prepared for the night following the first day of classes. With entire pigs spit-roasted over open flame, chicken and beef of all sorts, juices, wines and beers from all over Europe, and of course the best breads and chocolates as befits a French school, the banquet is truly one for the record books. Of course, they say that every year.

B. SYLLABUS HANDOUTS

Most teachers at this point are handing out the syllabi for their next class, although a few more aggressive ones may have already launched fully into teaching. If you have questions about this quarter’s curriculum, now’s the time to voice it.

C. MEET AND GREET

With the new school year comes new opportunities to forge lifelong friendships. And what better way to do that than by partaking in cheesy icebreakers courtesy of your RAs? While hardly mandatory, RAs are highly encouraged to turn out their entire floor by being as annoyingly peppy and persistent as possible. At a school like this, it’s important to make new friends!

D. SOMETHING BLEW UP AGAIN

Daybreak Academy is a bit of an unusual school by any conventional standards. Daemons, fairies and youkai studying alongside humans that can call upon arcane power and bring forth divine light are hardly your usual fare. And this, of course, means that it’s usually a matter of hours before something blows up somewhere on campus. For new students, this might be a startling, shocking experience. For seasoned students, well, it’s just that time again.

Yes, exactly!

[Toki sets his tin of buttons down and retrieves a clipboard from his bag. Attached is a generic sign-up sheet. The first four lines are filled out with Toki, Angelique, Bob Asano, and Ernst Krause. Seiji will have his work cut out for him. Bob is a horrible public speaker, and Ernst is a dick who's still pissed he lost the vice presidential election to James.]

Not really, just put your name down here!

[He hands the clipboard and a pen over to Seiji.]

[The voice is speaking but Seiji is focusing his attention on Toki and not whatever it may be saying, no matter how loud it may be saying it. It makes his reaction time only a second off as he shuffles his books into his one arm while he uses takes the clip board and sets it on top so he can sign his name. His handwriting in English is neat and careful, although less deliberate than he was nine months ago.]

There. [He then hands the clipboard back.] Hopefully others will continue to balance out the membership.

[Despite being a Seer, Toki is not particularly observant to tiny details and he picks up on nothing amiss with Seiji. His secret is safe for the time being.]

Well, we've got a good start anyway! So, how did your summer go?

[It works in Seiji's favor how easily said details look like normal student exhaustion.]

My summer went as well as could be expected. [Considering all of the disruptions and fighting they did over this summer.] I must say I was ready to return to our studies. Do you have a class you are looking forward to this semester?

[yokeye]

[Toki can understand that, and he's surprisingly looking forward to classes as well. Mostly for the normalcy.]

I guess it's not really an impressive class, but the more advanced mathematics and probably alchemy. I'm taking more than I should, but I need to like make up for things I didn't pass or show up for last year.

[His goal is to get D's across the board this time in the classes he has trouble with, though he doesn't tell Seiji that. He should strive for more, but he knows his limits.]

Advanced maths are still commendable and useful. There is more math that some would think to what we do here. I am also taking alchemy. I chose not to last semester, but I do think it would be more helpful than not to have better familiarity with it.

[Seiji is not a mathematics prodigy himself or anything of the like, but he does well enough to get good grades and that is what matters to him.]

Is this your only club?

Maybe we can work on some projects together this year, then!

[Toki pauses in his response to hand out a button to a passing student.]

So far, yes! But it can't hurt to join more!

[Seiji gives a nod.] I would not mind doing so.

[He readjusts his books again. He should be getting to his next class before he is deemed late.] I will not disrupt your work any longer. Have a good day, Toki. Thank you for informing me of the club.

[yokeye]

You're welcome! I'll talk to you later, Seiji!

[He waves and then turns his attention on the next student to walk by, handing them a button and extolling the wonders of Debate Club.]
