Who: Héctor, Avery, Valvatorez, Jailbreak, Grimm, Ekkehardt
What: Tacky clothing, tacky costumes, and Friendship Was A Mistake Actually
When: Mid-October at some point
Where: Soleil
Warnings: Characters getting drunk to varying degrees, I think? I'll warn for anything else as it comes up, if it does come up.
Notes: yeah
It's October, and as Soleil is absolutely in on the whole 'spooky supernatural thing', they tend to take Halloween a bit more seriously as an occasion than other towns might.
There's plenty of excitingly colourful clothing. Even better, there's plenty of excitingly colourful costumes, ranging from 'good' to 'somewhat decent' to 'unashamedly tacky'. The only real struggle is picking where to go, and who gets goaded/dared/pressured into wearing something awful first.

"Oh, he likely will." Grimm sounds suspiciously okay with that happening. "But you should not worry about me my friend. I have my own tricks."
Avery knows that Grimm can teleport but that's not a problem. He is much faster then most people seem willing to give him credit for.
But before they're both hunted down and murdered, Grimm heads to one of the racks. "I did find something for you I think you will like. Now let's see..."
no subject
"And you would leave me in your dust? A lamb to the slaughter? Truly, you are the villain," He says with false solemnity.
He perks up when Grimm suggests having something for him. He's under no illusion it won't be something terrible. He leans in eagerly.
"What have you got?"
no subject
Grimm sounds serious but judging by his amused grin he doesn't really mean it.
"But off the stage if we are to be murdered I would run with you. Ah, here we are."
With a flourish, Grimm produces quite the sweater. It's hideously tacky and he loves it.
no subject
"Would you really? Oh, that's so generous," He says, still a little teasing. Oh to die with a friend.
His voice cuts. He draws a breath, eyes widening at the sweater.
"It's an abomination," He breathes. "It's perfect."
no subject
"Truly." He does legitimately mean it in his own, weird way. But Héctor's reaction makes him laugh.
"Isn't it? Perhaps Ekkehardt is correct when he says I am good at finding these things." Or Grimm simply loved tacky clothing on top of his usual aesthetics. It made for a good laugh.

He spreads his hands out, in display of himself. Then he's digging out his phone, setting it to camera and passing it over.
"Take my picture," He demands. He then proceeds to sprawl on the floor, on his side, one leg kicked up into the air. "Imelda's going to love this."
(Will she?)
no subject
It's an utterly hideous and he is absolutely going to take that requested photo.
"I'm certain she will love it." Grimm cannot nor will stop smiling as he raises the phone. "Say cheese, my friend!"
(She's going to kill them both. Worth it.)
no subject
"Queso~" He sing-songs just to a bigger fool.
Once he's sure it's taken, he sits back up, breaking into laughter.
no subject
This is absolutely priceless! He loves his friends and Halloween's tread of stupid costumes.
"Here you are." He says as he hands the phone back. "It's wonderful."
no subject
Yes, he very much sees the appeal of the costumes at the very least. He takes the camera back with a grin. He'll get about sending that to Imelda in a moment.
"Gracias Señor Grimm," He says. "You have made me a very happy woman."
no subject
'I am quite happy to help." He wheezes. In humor Grimm tends to be undignified but he doesn't care. This is exactly why he wishes to see the world survive Nightfall. These little, amusing moments in a long, long life. These things he would treasure for eternity.
"You will have to let me know her reaction. Please."
no subject
He places a hand over his heart.
"On my honor, I will inform you every detail, be that her laugh or the imprint of her shoe." But he suspects the former.
Were he to know Grimm's thoughts, he'd agree. These moments were the best parts of being human. Or, at least, human adjacent.
no subject
"Perhaps I should keep in mind her wrath for enabling this." Although he's is exaggerating. Imelda most certainly had a presence but he doubts she would be so angry at this sort of stupid fun.
"But I do quite enjoy this. Halloween certainly has evolved over the years." And so have the stupid costumes.
no subject
"Has it? I don't have much exposure. Except, you know, people coming in from North America talking about it. I can't say I know much about the history there." Besides being the weird cousin of Día de Muertos, both born when another culture tried to block out an old one and leading to fusions instead.
no subject
Grimm was born on Halloween, much to the amusement of himself and his Troupe. Still it was fun to see it evolve over the years. And the silly costumes.
"In the end what I do enjoy is the joy trick-or-treaters have with collecting candy and costumes. Do you celebrate something different, my friend?"
He has been alive for a long time but that does not mean he knows everything about different cultures.
no subject
But he still brightens more to explain.
"Si! Día de Muertos! The day of the dead! Oh, it's wonderful. The life, the music, the color! Every year, families all over México, my home, put up ofrendas for the dead. We leave offerings, make feasts... it's a joyous time! It's our chance to remember those who came before us, those we lost, and know that we too will be remembered. The stories say, on these nights, the spirits of the dead return to celebrate alongside the living!"
He's gesturing wildly as he speaks, grinning, even dancing in place just enough for the skirt to sway. He's got a lot of love for this.
"Imelda and I are going to be doing a smaller one in lumiere this year. You should come! There's going to be plenty of food-- on either side of the spiritual veil," He laughs. "I'll probably be playing guitar there too, if that qppeals to you."
