[The Halloween season is upon us, and that can only mean one thing: it's time to carve up some Jack-o-lanterns! Akechi's set up carving equipment in the common room of his dormitory floor, along with a posterboard sign reading 'free pumpkins', helpfully decorated with Jack-o-lantern doodles, taped to a box of pumpkins of varying size, shape, and color. Signs elsewhere on campus advertise a pumpkin carving party, in case anyone outside the dormitory wants to participate.

...Just don't mind the weird pumpkin goblin floating around and offering advice like 'it should look more like me-hee, ho!' or 'I know where to go-ho for a spare butt if I ne-hee-d one!']

[Outside of pumpkin carving, Akechi seems even more stressed and fatigued than usual. He normally drinks an unhealthy amount of coffee, but these days he's almost never without a thermos or a can of energy drink. That might explain why he's so jittery and jumpy, but...well, maybe the crash is why he keeps turning up passed out in his chair in just about any place a student might opt to sit down for a while. Usually he just has his head leaned against his chest or the nearest firm surface, but every now and then he winds up curled up on the floor...and not always out of the way. Try not to trip.]

[At some point between pumpkin carving and passing out, Akechi manages to send a text to Lia.]

Halloween movies are starting to show in theaters. Maybe we should catch one?

[He pries his eyes open slightly at the sudden weight on top of him, then lets out a tired groan.]

[And there would be Griffon. V apparently hasn't caught up to his familiars yet... Shadow just lets out a grumble at Griffon and doesn't move.]

[His eyes were starting to drift back closed, but they open again at the sound of a voice.]

[There's not much going on in Lum 4 these days, so Kokoro comes down to 3 after she sees the signs. She pokes in and waves.]

[Akechi waves, dressed in his princely magic outfit that conveniently won't keep pumpkin stains.]

Sort of, if you call gathering to make decorations a party.

[Yeah, another one for the "not a lot going on with the fourth floor" squad. Lia's entire demeanor seems to brighten when she notices what's actually going on and she eagerly makes her way over.]

[She's gonna grin as she looks over the pumpkins, and it only widens as she hefts one up.]

I've gotta make some good jack-o-lanterns to make up for the lost time!

[With being one of exactly three students currently assigned rooms on the second floor, and with the other two generally not around each for their own reasons, Rebecca's options are to sit around by herself and continue with the stuff she's been doing throughout the month, or to take a break from that and wander up to the third floor herself to at least socialize a bit.

However, rather than take the stairs, she takes the elevator, with the ding of the bell and the opening doors announcing her arrival. It quickly becomes clear why she took the elevator for even just a single floor, as well: she's tugging along a cart—recently bought at one of the shops in the market square—and in that cart are a number of boxes, each of them labeled to tell what they contain: cupcakes and cookies of varying kinds, mostly.

She'd originally planned for what she was making to be saved for the end of the month, but with things evidently already in full swing, it made enough sense to pick out a few things out of what she already had done to bring along, so there are now snacks available for anyone else that's come to check out what's going on here.]

[Ah, sleep deprivation. The signs of it are always quite clear - as well as attempting to stave it off with caffeine or any other kind of 'upper'. And as far as he knew, the one in front of him (Was he in one of his classes? More than likely, due to that Math was considered a Core class, but he has yet to completely commit all the names of the students to memory) was human, so keeping this sort of thing up would quickly become absolutely terrible for his health.

So, when Akechi slumps on a table, clearly asleep...Moriarty quietly takes a seat in front of him, and clears his throat loudly.]

A rough couple of nights, I assume?

[He starts and looks up with an alarmed expression. Notably, his hand moves toward the sword hilt strapped to his hip before his attention focuses on the teacher in front of him.]

H-huh? Oh...y-yeah. You know how it can be, with the start of a new year...

[He notes it - a fair reaction, honestly - but doesn't raise attention, merely smiling as if all he really IS is just the math professor, and not anything other than a harmless old man.]

Haha, indeed! I've often felt that exhaustion, myself - though I am a bit more used to it, I suppose.

I believe you may be in one of my classes...? I'm Professor James Moriarty - I don't believe we've had the pleasure of talking before, sadly.

[That earns a start, and a sleepy, confused noise as he tries to look around and rub his eye at the same time.]

I-I'm fine! It's just, um...been a busy month.

C'mon, you've nodded off like three times since we've been sitting here. I'm calling shenanigans on 'fine'.
