February In-Service

February In-Service
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation
This month’s Faculty In-Service is in La Pucelle 205. As always, an abundance of fresh pastries, snacks, juice, coffee, and tea have been set up for the Faculty’s consumption. Unfortunately, La Pucelle 205 has a rather janky projector, and it takes about twenty minutes (and two visits from the beleaguered IT staffer) to get it working.
Nevertheless, it is eventually up and running. With classes running more or less smoothly, this month’s discussion centers around the upcoming Valentine’s Ball, the available missions, and, of course, mid-term scheduling and curriculum. Presentations this month are on student romance - while Faculty should generally permit students to fraternize as they choose it is important that all students are aware of their options to prevent… unintended consequences. Faculty for middle school and early high school will have the distinct “pleasure” of sitting through a number of presentations on the subject. Those who don’t might be able to get away before they die of embarrassment or laughter.
[The following missions are on the docket, they will all require at least one Faculty volunteer to lead a group of 4-6 students. Running these logs will fulfill the Faculty member’s log requirement for the month of February. Full details will be provided to the Faculty member via Private Message upon acceptance. Faculty and students may discuss the missions before hand and work out who will lead what, sign-ups for missions will open on the 28th with priority given to Faculty and students who expressed interest getting priority.
Student players may tag to the top-level about trying to infiltrate the meeting if they wish. While students ICly will not be aware of the missions until around the 1st of February, they may still discuss OOCly and sign-up in this post.]

While they don’t have the international acclaim of German and Swiss chocolates, the French are no slouches at the craft, and the academy is proving this in the workshop being held in the cafeteria after school.
Students that want to add a personalized touch to their valentines or anyone simply wanting to learn how to make delicious candy are welcomed to come in to any one of the various workshops being held the week before le Saint Valentine’s dance, ranging from dipping and decorating fruits with chocolate to making cute little shapes with decorative molds, and even bonbons for the most ambitious. Just don’t eat the results (unless you want to). And don’t even think about putting any kind of curses or enchantments in the candy, you might not like the results.

Students who wish to spread some Valentine’s cheer are welcome to take part in the gift delivery. Participating students and supervising Faculty will be given festive red outfits and be sent around campus to deliver gifts to those who order them.
Faculty members will assist with the packaging and delivery routes, but most deliveries should be carried out by the students. Students will be paid per completed delivery. Bonuses are offered to students who put in extra effort such as singing and dancing as part of their delivery routine.

The Feast of St. Valentine’s will be held in the Grand Hall between the hours of 6 and 7. The hall will be cleared, cleaned and reset between 7 and 8, re-opening at 8 for the Valentine’s Ball. The Valentine’s Ball is a formal dance, and formal attire will be required for attendees. At precisely 9:17, Daemons will invade the ball hoping to catch the Academy unaware. Students wishing to take part in battling the Daemons will be required to pre-check all weapons and equipment with the administration before the dance. Storage lockers will be made available for students to hold their equipment during the dance itself. The dance floor will be cleared at 9:00 PM to give students and attendant Faculty ample time to arm and position themselves for the attack.
The Dance is anticipated to resume at 10:00 PM following combat and clean-up, and will last until midnight. Due to the potential danger of the Daemon invasion, as many Faculty as available are asked to attend.

A dangerous, elusive Outlands creature has resurfaced to prey on civilians whose emotions are running high from reminders of loved ones - lost, beloved or otherwise. A doppelganger’s main ability is to take on the shape and appearance of whoever the person most desires to see at that time by skimming their memories; its main goal is to lure and separate its targets before devouring them and adding their identity to its own. It should be dealt with before it claims any more innocent lives.

Primrose will be helping teach students how to make chocolate. She'll also be at the Ballroom Blitz, but acting in a support role only. It's gonna be hard on her but she feels she should be there for her students.

[He trails off realizing he's not the only person in the room, coughing quietly before he goes to examine the files]
Uh, well then - so this is how they celebrate the saint's day now?
no subject
Indeed. Celebration of St. Valentine's Day has evolved quite a bit over the centuries. Now it's a day celebrating love, romance, and overpriced greeting cards and chocolate.
Humankind still confuses me, even after all this time. But people appear to enjoy it this way.
[But it's not said with any vitriol or ill-will. Just was what it was.]

[ Cereza is, by comparison, NOT early, and seems to be enjoying the very act of entering the room. She in turn, saunters over and examines the files on the table. ]
...Oh. Valentine's day, hmmm? Considering we have so many hormonal teenagers with spherical powers around here, THAT'S going to spark some controversy.
[ The funny thing is, she doesn't sound like she's dreading that the way most teachers would. ]

[Michael's settled in with a mug of something that vaguely resembles coffee, but is a little too reflective.]

But it sounds like a great way to put a lot of pressure onto somebody.
