NOVEMBER IN-SERVICE

NOVEMBER IN-SERVICE
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation

This month's Faculty In-Service is in Robespierre 406 as 404’s equipment is undergoing maintenance. The smell of artificial cinnamon hits one’s nose as soon as the door opens due to the broomstick hung on the door - least until someone tosses it out so the meeting can proceed as planned.

As though to remind people that pumpkin is not the only harvest in the autumn months, as there are freshly harvested apples and pears native to french - with pies and non-alcoholic cider made from both fruits for those wanting something sweeter. Quince cheese jiggles, ready to be spread on fig and mulberry tarts. There is nary a pumpkin or squash in sight - all fruit and berries here. With hopes of things settling down, it’s time to plan for the winter, and hoping the long, cold nights will bring some calm.

Krampus is a figure familiar to much of the European faculty, and those who had been around for a while may visibly groan when they realize it’s that time. Nobody knew when it began, but the Academy had a long tradition of ‘hunting’ facsimiles of Saint Nicholas’ devilish companion - generally the hunt consists of conjured illusions, but there are also old costumes that “volunteered” faculty and teaching assistants are expected to wear to become the ‘Krampus’. It’s a time-honored tradition to nominate others to be chased, and argue whether they should or shouldn’t be one of the next victims

There was one vision that had been revealed that threatened the hope of a quiet holiday - the snarling of dogs and hunting horns, but instead of the fearsome horde of hunters, it was a frantic, desperate chase through the snow as a white, one-eyed boar is chased by monstrous creatures, leaving a trail of blood in its wake.

( Student players may tag top levels to try to infiltrate the meeting if they wish. While students ICly will not be aware of the missions until around the 1st of December, they may still discuss OOCly in the post here.

The following open events are available for the month of December. )

Gift Delivery
Client: Daybreak
Students will have the opportunity to take part in the gift-giving courier service this Holiday season. Couriers are paid positions and can expect quite a few hours over the course of the Holiday wrapping and delivering gifts to the requestors specifications across campus. These deliveries can even come with special instructions such as a special song or dance, or even a warm hug-by-proxy. It’s not uncommon for some of the students less sympathetic to the plight of the working student to include outlandish and otherwise ridiculous additions to their requests (often paired with rather heavy and unwieldy gifts, of course), but a courier always sees to their duty with grace and a smile!

Golf carts provided for all couriers.

Krampus Hunting
Client: Daybreak
In one of the time-honored Daybreak traditions, Faculty and TA’s who owe favors or drew the short straw will don Krampus costumes, load up sacks of gifts, and scatter across campus with hundreds of festively-dressed weapon-wielding students in hot pursuit. The rules are simple: wrest a gift from Krampus, and it is yours to keep. And given that the gifts themselves are often quite nice and valuable, many students are keen to partake in this tradition. Killing and maiming is strictly forbidden, and that goes for students and Krampuses both.

Chasing the Sun
Client: Daybreak
The vision of a boar and it’s shadowy pursuit during the Winter Solstice was the only vision given from Cassandra, and while it doesn’t seem to be a danger to the academy itself, it was clear it was an ill omen of some kind that is best to be ready to be on the move, especially as they identify the location as the forests where the Wild Hunt had ran through only months before.

In addition to discussing upcoming missions and requests submitted to Daybreak, the faculty will be going over the most recent vision deciphered during the Cassandra download.

A shame too. It was delightfully over the top from the sounds of it.

[Grimm is fairly certain it's gone down in Daybreak history and thus has never heard the complete full story. Only legends and rumors.]

Oh, it was hilarious. Or at least, I had fun.

No one even got hurt, either. But apparently you can't be a scary Christmas spirit without someone getting upset.

[He sighs, shakes his head, and shrugs.]

I wonder if the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come has ever had to put up with this.

Unfortunately over the years I have seen countless attempts to censor our dear old Ghost.

[Mainly for children. Not that it is a bad thing, as Grimm feels that movie should also be able to be enjoyed by children too.

But in some cases...come on.]

Perhaps some of the rumors grew afterwards played a hand in your unfortunate ban. I heard tell of countless corpses and a blood red moon.

[Or maybe just people who fell unconscious. He could buy a blood red moon though. It's Val, after all.]

They just passed out from exhaustion is all! I wasn't running a charity!

[Honestly, corpses?! He has some decorum.]

...I totally did the moon thing though. That I am very proud of.

Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful. A pity I was not around to see it.

[He...probably would have helped and gotten banned too. But it would have been absolutely wonderful to see.

Grimm tilts his head suddenly and then chuckles.]

Our mutual friend also wishes to pass on his thanks for such entertainment.

[Even if he was no longer the Tyrant, Val still brought the nightmares and the Nightmare King loved it.]

Oh? Well, he's very welcome. It does my dark soul good to hear that I have not lost my touch yet.

[...He's actually quite genuine in saying that, even if his goal of being the King of Fear is long in the past now. It's still nice to know that you still have it.]

I would offer you to join me when I get off probation, but I suspect by then there might be even more rules that will make it less fun. ...And they may actually extend it if I seriously extend that offer, come to think of it. Alas.

...Save the date, instead.
fireindreams: (.♪ At something other then yourself)

[personal profile] fireindreams 2019-11-20 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
[He has not lost his touch, no. It's just applied in a different way. The Nightmare King could not change who he was but Valvatorez did so wonderfully.]

A shame indeed. But I will certainly clear my schedule when the time comes.

[But Grimm thinks for a moment and one could see the lightbulb moment.]

...although you do not have a ban regarding Halloween, do you not?

[Because Grimm has Ideas.]
arcadianvampire: (Evil Smile)

[personal profile] arcadianvampire 2019-11-20 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[And there's a dark and evil laugh; almost comically supervillain.]

Oh no, there would be hell to pay if there was.

I still have to follow the rules, but...

[He can be flexible. And he's practically aching to hear those ideas.]

['Comically supervillain' is one of his favorite things. Perhaps it may worry some but it just makes Grimm smile.]

Oh no, the rules shall be followed. But I was thinking of offering the Grimm Troupe's usual talents to Daybreak for the next Halloween or farther down the line if needed. And to be quite frank, I have thought it would be very interesting to see you on stage with us.

[Among the death-defying stunts and dances, bold and vibrant. Grimm had not met the Tyrant (things that may or may not be memories flash by when the Nightmare King slept) but Valvatorez was no slouch by any means. It would be delightful.]
