[Puella had to work fast since she only had a few days left, and she was much more used to attending parties than having to orchestrate one of her own. She did, however, get a bunch of handwritten cards done to give to every dorm room...which probably took all night to do. Even with a little bit of cheating on the side.]

You are all invited to my birthday party! (Dec. 3rd)
There's going to be lots of cake for anyone that missed their birthday too!!
It will all be at the first floor!

[As for the cakes themselves, Puella did her best to help Lia with the lengthy order given to her. Though the ones Puella helped make herself were definitely a bit...messier. But they did still taste the same as any other cake and that's all that mattered, assuming no one else cared about getting their hands dirty. At some point she even tried doing cupcakes instead just because it seemed like it might be easier.]

[As soon as Puella knew that not many students got to even celebrate their birthdays while at the school she knew she had to fix it somehow, even if it meant taking some of the attention away from herself. It's not fun to miss such an important day in your life, after all. And there was already too many bad days at Daybreak as it is. Nobody should be unhappy... And she especially doesn't want other people to be sad on her big day too.]

[Every dorm room. Even the unoccupied ones, though it was probably better to assume that someone was there rather than take a chance on accidentally not inviting someone because somebody thought their room was empty.

With it being somewhat short notice, though, and also not really knowing what sort of gift to bring, Desidera made a quick trip to Soleil in the morning and grabbed the first thing that caught her eye: a wide-brimmed pointed purple hat that, while nothing particularly special (yet?), looked like a pretty stereotypical witch hat.

She just kept it in the bag it had been put in, not bothering with any attempts to stick it in a box or wrap it or anything, and as such she's arrived at the party with a shopping bag in her hands. (She is trying to hold the bag closed, so its contents can't be seen just yet.)]

[Every room. Yes. If she missed anybody surely it would be the absolute worst. ...Of course, it was going to be impossible to find everybody that happened to live off campus anyway.]

[But sooner or later Puella sees Desi, and she sees the bag she was carrying. Already intrigued what could possibly by inside. A little peek can't hurt right? Right?] You got something???

I'll admit that I wasn't too sure what to get, but I thought it was better to take a guess rather than do nothing at all. So— [She hands the bag over.] —here you go. The receipt is still in there if you decide you don't like it and want to return it.

[WELL, she did already have a witch hat of her own, but that one was more legit Halloween themed and this one wasn't quite as much. Seeing that it was a different style made Puella grin. She could definitely use this somehow.] Why? This is great!!

[Desi also has a good taste in hats.] I think I could use this.

[Reira had a birthday before, so Reira totally knows what a birthday is. Maybe. She thinks.

She doesn't really know what to get Puella, but between what she learned on Halloween and what she did on Halloween, she shows up in...the halloween witch costume?? Reira,

Well anyway after talking to V and a few others she did, ultimately, get something in a wrapped up box that she mostly drew flowers and birds and things all over. She is....Very protectively carrying it. This thing goes Straight to Puella folks.

Makes the rest of the partying a bit tricky.] Mnhh...

[Look, it may be out of season but it still looks cool!! Besides they're at a magic school, who's gonna judge people wearing witch costumes? ...Even if it is a tad cliche. But Puella won't judge regardless. (Have you seen her normal outfit? It makes her look kinda like a street magician)]

Is it? ...Maybe because it is the first time I had to make one on my own. But most of my mine are kinda like this!

[What kind of birthdays has Reira had?]

[Reira has had One Whole Birthday.] Yeah.

V made a birthday for me, and we just had a table for presents in the dorm, and some cake. And he said 'everyone can come', but mostly we just sat together.

[There may have been worries about overwhelming someone. The 'someone' is unknown.]

[Is that so?] But that is how most birthdays are.

[Maybe hers is a little different because it's outside the dorm?] I just wanted mine out here because there's more room.

Hmmm... [Actually, Puella's is still closer to proper birthday level. ...Oh right, this present.] Umm!

I have to give you this. You're supposed to get presents on birthdays...so I got this one...

[She holds out the box. It notably feels heftier than a hat ought be, so it might not be a hat.]

[Kokoro does come as requested, nodding in greeting and offering a small gift bag. Going entirely off the idea that the kid loves hats. I'm sorry.]

Strange things have been happening as of late. I hope this will go well despite it.

[Ohhhhh, what is this???? She will have to open this one up in just a bit.]

Hm, I think it will. Nothin's happen so far.

[It's only for today and the weather hasn't predicted any more Herald attacks yet. And they all needed a break in some way anyway.]

[Someone crashing the party because they don't think parties are as important as the end of the world "doom and gloom", though, is another issue all together. And likely will be dealt with just as swiftly if someone was stupid enough to try it.]

Good to hear. I worry, with how we haven't seen a few people for some time.

I'm unsure. Perhaps it's simply that it's a big campus.

[That is very mysterious! Oh, wait, hang on a second.]

Oh, I bet they went home for Christmas or something!

[It's pretty common to have long holidays this time of year right??]

It could be. Are you doing anything for the break?

I'm sure it is!

...I am gonna be seeing my family later too. [So, there's that. She's only half looking forward to it though. Other half kinda nervous.]

I'mma little worried. The last time I went home they were thinking I shouldn't go to the school anymore.

...But I think it's settled now.

Really? Why would they want to pull you out? ...then again, we do have all sorts of people these days...

It's too dangerous for me to be here.

[Though honestly they aren't completely wrong, after nearly freezing to death and almost brutally killed by one of the TAs.]

Perhaps that's true. My parents don't have an issue with it, but you're younger.

So...most parents don't do that?

...I don't know. My family have done this for centuries. I'm sure it's different for other people.

[Maybe. Puella thought about it for awhile - she really loves the alien hat by the way! Those who had been doing magic and knew about monsters for so long probably viewed the whole thing differently than those who...weren't.]

So you get along with your family? [Just curious about it.]

[nod] We have disagreements, as with everyone else, but I take my family's legacy very seriously. so I do my best to be worthy of it, even if I may... sometimes mess up.

I don't think you'll mess up!!

I would take the compliment, but I must admit I haven't skipped any grades as you have, and I'm nowhere near the skill I should have. At least so my marks would seem. Phys.Ed is truly a difficult enemy.

That's only the boring, normal classes though. The magical ones are all brand new to me!

[And they were lots of fun - most of the time - but, everyone is so much ahead of her. Especially if they actually lived in those places.]

But aren't the mundane classes important as well? Even to missions.

Not really.

[When does a mission need a math equation?]

Not the ones I been to.

I thought math was important to building things or finding out probability, things like that.

Oh.

...Well I guess it's good for that. But I dunno that's supposed to help for missions.

[ He's already given Puella a lot of gifts, so he's not quite sure what to get for her this time around.

In the end, he settles on something a little more plush. He arrives carrying a meticulously wrapped parcel tied with purple and yellow ribbons, figuring it was better if he came as a guest rather than a helper for the day. ]

[Ekkehardt has spoiled her with enough presents as is. Enough so that she was just as happy whether he came with one or not.]

[Of course naturally, she was eyeing the present anyway. How could she not when it had her favorite colors?]

I think it should! The weird stuff doesn't happen all the time... [And it can take a break, just this once too.]

[But...Before she gets to unwrapping the present she had just one thing to do. She set the package down and turned around to get something off the table. It was set aside from the rest of the cupcakes on the plate.]

...Here! [She held up an extra special red velvet cupcake. The frosting on top was a bit of a mess but it still tasted fine. ...She put it together herself!]

[Lia's already around because of helping transport cakes, but she does excuse herself briefly for something she made some time to get before the party.

So Lia walks back into the Aube dorm with a gift bag and a bright smile on her face, keeping an eye out for Puella.]

[Hello yes - more gift bags please.]

[Puella is a great master of stealth but only tries to use this power for good. Lia was already a great deal of help so she didn't expect to get even more from her.]

What's that? [The voice comes from behind.]

I helped with the cakes, but that's not really the same as a present, you know? Here.

For me?? [You made her cakes and got a present too? Wow... That's like, double the good.]

You didn't need to - the cakes were good enough!

[But if Lia insists - she'll take the bag and peek inside. Puella doesn't do well with these sorts of suspenses.] What is it?

[And inside the bag, Puella will find... a hat, of course!]

I saw this and I couldn't pass it up.

[OH NO.] I LOVE IT!

[She has many of favorite hat, but she will have to make room to add this one too.]

[In fact, she's going to have to swap it out for own hat right now.] ...It feels pretty comfy too.

[Yeah, there's a lot of potential with this hat. The ideas are already coming in.]

[He's likely to be late to the party itself. It can't be helped. No matter how he tries, there's no rising up with the sun and the sun is so much sparser in the winters here. Still, he's pinned her invitation so as not to forget it and he's managed to find her a gift. It's probably for the best he miss out on the open party anyway, all things considered, but with the falling night, he's here.]

[He stands in the entry to first-floor commons, gift in one hand, cane in the other, a guitar on his back.]

[It's fine that Héctor is late. She kind of figured this would happen anyway. It doesn't make it any different when she does finally spot him.]

Heeeeeec~! [The only thing sparing him from a tackle is the fact that he already look weighed down by enough things already. And it'll be bad to ruin the present too!]

[He laughs at the way she drawls out his name. He grins back at her for enthusiasm.]

Si, si, of course, I did. Did you think I'd really miss the birthday of one of my favorite people?

[He gives her a pointed look.]

I'm one of your favorites?! [Well, of course she was. She already figured such as. Probably? But it still made her feel better to hear it.]

[Especially when you know, adults generally kept to their adult friends.]

No, I didn't think you would miss it!
