everything in this world is a lie
Who: Miach and you.
What: Attempts to identify her own species, potential emotion draining, general life stuff.
When: First half of December
Where: Various + Network
Warnings: It's Miach so the usual edginess applies. Discussion of suicide and traumatic past is likely, but not inherent to the prompts. Let me know about your comfort levels if needed be!
Also Miach is in the process of discovering her happiness drainage ability, so that might happen to your character should physical touch occur! The drain wears off quickly with such little contact! Let me know if that isn't cool with you and it won't happen.
A.) Library and around campus - first Two Weeks of December
[ Miach is a regular fixture in the library by now - or by good weather on the campus. Any day, she can be spotted lazing about in some corner or another, reading. Those who pay attention to their surroundings must have noticed it by now. December is no different here, but the trend in books has narrowed down by a lot.
COMMON DRAGON CLANS. CHECHEN FOLKLORE. CREATURES OF CHECHNYA. CAUCASIAN DEMONS. and many similar titles pile up and up. Huh.
As usual, Miach is not likely to pay any mind to people around her unless approached thought. ]
B.) Music Room - December 15th
[ The door to the music room isn't closed completely and a soft piano tune is spilling out. Anybody curious will find Miach playing with a gentle smile. She'll ignore any newcomer completely until she's done playing, but once the last note fades, the smile is instantly gone and her expression goes inquisitive. ]
If you're expecting an encore, you're out of luck.
C.) Network - un: werther - December 12th
How many folk tales that you've heard in the mundane world have turned out to actually be true?
D.) Wildcard
[ Literally just toss whatever at me. ]

[ A pregnant pause ensues here before she puts his book down and gestures at herself. ]
In other words, myself. I've been informed that the hunters did even more of a hack job than suspected. They didn't even reintegrate me into the correct species.

Welcome to the freak club! Always fun to learn you're not quite human. And not even knowing what you are! Hunters really are... typical.
[There's a venomous note to that word, though he keeps grinning.]
I'd bet anything they were banking that you'd never find out. You'd slip right into human society and magically any potential problem would go away. Or at least, you'd soften up enough they could kill you later.
So, what tipped you off to your lost heritage?

[ She says this in her usual soft tone so it's impossible to tell if she's joking. She isn't, though.]
I know there's no place for me to return to even if I wanted, but I am rather uncomfortable with the thought of not knowing myself better than anyone else knows me. So that inspired the research binge.

You've been keeping busy.
[Whatever she's doing, it doesn't sound like it'll be a problem. He's not concerned.
He leans back a bit and shrugs his shoulders.]
Well, humans suck but daemons and fae and all those other guys aren't that great either. You wouldn't really be missing anything to go it alone.
[He would know.]
I'm guessing your human sacrifice didn't tip you off toward any particular species. You're probably not any kind of undead at least-- there's enough Radiance around here you would know. Unless of course, you're a golem, I've seen that slip past the radar. I don't think there's much difference in fae and daemons when you get down to it. One side likes eating people more than the other but there's exceptions.

Her home though... She doesn't remember much of it. It's just that what remains is warm and soothing impressions. Something that she yearns for, even when her higher cognition tells her that it's stupid.
She's almost glad the village has been destroyed now. It spares her from this kind of conflict. ]
Well, I certainly have yet to try eating people. My metabolism is unusually fast, but I don't believe I've ever confronted a craving for flesh specifically. The idea of trying doesn't sound too appealing to me personally either - your diet is right for you, but I'll stick to rice and potatoes for now.
I've been alive for most of the time I remember and aside from an aptitude for magic spells, no ability has ever been noted... It is quite the riddle my people left me. Considering they were thought to be a reclusive indigenous human population by outsiders, that's at least a criteria we share though.

You like the blandest foods. But I suppose that leaves more of the fun stuff for me.
[Back to the important part here.]
You're probably fae-leaning then. Or something adjacent. Possibly mixed species. A half human ancestor for your people leading you all to pass as such. You'd be surprised the way things can blend together. It would also help explain why there's no details on you at all.

[ Also she likes them, despite the appalling lack of flavor. Shhh, her bad taste is scientific. Probably. ]
I wonder if that is a criteria I have to go looking for. 'Fae who need an unusually high amount of food to keep their brain running at full functionality'. But it's just as likely to be a result of mere genetic coincidence or maybe a side-effect of species mixing, like you suggested...
