What: Attempts to identify her own species, potential emotion draining, general life stuff.

Warnings: It's Miach so the usual edginess applies. Discussion of suicide and traumatic past is likely, but not inherent to the prompts. Let me know about your comfort levels if needed be!

Also Miach is in the process of discovering her happiness drainage ability, so that might happen to your character should physical touch occur! The drain wears off quickly with such little contact! Let me know if that isn't cool with you and it won't happen.


A.) Library and around campus - first Two Weeks of December

[ Miach is a regular fixture in the library by now - or by good weather on the campus. Any day, she can be spotted lazing about in some corner or another, reading. Those who pay attention to their surroundings must have noticed it by now. December is no different here, but the trend in books has narrowed down by a lot.

COMMON DRAGON CLANS. CHECHEN FOLKLORE. CREATURES OF CHECHNYA. CAUCASIAN DEMONS. and many similar titles pile up and up. Huh.

As usual, Miach is not likely to pay any mind to people around her unless approached thought. ]

B.) Music Room - December 15th

[ The door to the music room isn't closed completely and a soft piano tune is spilling out. Anybody curious will find Miach playing with a gentle smile. She'll ignore any newcomer completely until she's done playing, but once the last note fades, the smile is instantly gone and her expression goes inquisitive. ]

If you're expecting an encore, you're out of luck.

How many folk tales that you've heard in the mundane world have turned out to actually be true?

Making it more often than listening to it, but yes.

[ Some music is fun to listen to, but often that correlates to the historical significance rather than qualities inherent to the music. Words and texts are more pointed, sharper, than the vague emotions conveyed by music.

Miach takes her hands off the piano and turns around on the piano bench to face Hibiki. ]

Is that what brings you here? A passion for music?

Any kind of performance impassions me.

[ Hibiki leans on the piano, indicating she’ll be here a while while striking the coolest possible pose. ] After all, this world is but lies and illusions. What ability matters but the capacity to take center stage?

[ She smirks, as if somehow expectant. ]

[ Well, she can't disagree with this assessment of the world, but... ]

The ability to not get lost in your own performance to the point where it starts to dull your senses. Once you begin to fool even yourself, you become no different from the masses who happily play the roles they are assigned by the faceless giant that is 'society'.

I long to witness the role you've chosen for yourself.

[ Played consciously and deliberately, of course. Miach is many intriguing things, but it's clear she's no method actor. She views herself as....apart, it seems? Separate. Looking down. Hibiki doesn't dislike such a vista.

And of course, there's only one top-class method to coax forth a superior show. Hibiki nods to the piano bench. ] Shift aside.

[ Not, mind you, "get up". Shikyoin Hibiki has an Idea.

[ Well, it's a good thing that the request was worded as is. Miach would absolutely not have responded to 'get up' in any wording, but shift aside? She can do that.

Miach makes enough space for Hibiki to sit down next to her, which the piano bench is thankfully accommodating for, and raises her eyebrows at the other girl. ]

[ Hibiki lifts her whole head in response to that eyebrow. ] You're capable of improvisation, correct? Let's invent a new score.

[ And she just....starts on in. Elaborately. Fingers dancing over the keys. It's not a recognizable piece - Hibiki, too, is improvising - but it's definitely drawing more on classical fundamentals than any other genre.

Now, she wonders: will she end up with a duet partner or a piano duel? ]

[ Miach, too, is definitely more familiar with classical composers than she is with modern play. She's had a very stereotypical piano education, even if she's gotten more experimental on her own.

And by betting on duel, Hibiki would probably be on the safe side.

Miach joins the play without a further word. While nothing she adds is completely disharmonious (she does have ears that would object to this), she's definitely choosing unconventional additions. Notably, she has a preference for high glass-like notes. ]

[ An encouraging decision. Hibiki is happy to occupy the lower end of their harmony - though she uses that to drive the song onward, her own melody growing increasingly more complicated and then shifting to a second movement, just to see how Miach will react. ]

You have a sound ear.

[ And a need for antagonism that doesn't cross over into gauche rowdiness. This is a rare quality.

Hibiki doesn't technically need to be playing this particular strain with her hands crossed, but somehow she's ended up that way. It hasn't affected her ability. ]
