A new wind blows [OTA]
Who: Giorno and you
What: New student arrival, in person or over the net
When: Starting December 30th
Where: Daybreak Academy
Warnings: None at present
Greetings to everyone, I am a new student here and wanted to introduce myself. I am Giorno Giovanna.
I have recently joined this school, coming from my home of Napoli, Italia. If we meet in person please pardon me if I fall into a familiar tongue for some words, with French and Italian being so close it happens to me a bit. I will strive to be at least understandable.
I am pleased to meet everyone and look forward to studying here and getting to know the people I am now living with.
Thank you.
~Giorno
[Around Campus]
Wherever he is he does his best to exude a sense of belonging, his posture intentionally graceful and artfully relaxed. At five foot eight inches he's not towering, but tall enough to look at least a little older than he is, especially since he is athletically trim, rather than lanky. His blond hair is always neat and cared for, three distinct rings of hair are secured to his hairline in a style reminiscent of victory curls, while the remainder is kept back in a clean short braid, with the very end curled up in a loop to keep the ends from tangling. He has turquoise eyes that seem to study the world around him as he watches, and generous lips that seem quick to smile, even seeming to naturally sit in a happy expression.
His outfit, often in a shade of pink or deep blue, is quite distinctive. The top has a heart shaped cut out which reveals a good portion of his chest, and is decorated with three fist sized pins that are modeled after ladybugs, to attached at the sides of the heart, while the third is set on the center line at his waist. His pants are always matching and cleanly tailored, while his shoes are well kept, with small, matching ladybug decor. All told he has the appearance of a young man who is well put together.
As he people watches he can be seen playing with small objects, like pens or even one of his own pins, and with a shimmer of gold around his hand, they change shape into animals, varying from small snakes and geckos to even kittens, depending on the size of the item he's playing with. The actions seem almost subconscious yet he is always careful about any animal he is holding.

What does stop her is that she's pretty sure she's never seen this kid before and is narrowing her eyes from a little further down a hallway to watch him. Whatever the hell he's doing is... curious and she's pretty sure she saw this asshole on the same floor she was on.
"You just moved into Aube fourth floor, didn't you?" Good welcome, Jolyne, except not when you sound accusatory already.
no subject
She seems a bit aggressive for his tastes, the teen trying to read her, to see if she was just always brisque or if she actually had something against him. He couldn't not answer though, so he decides for some believable flattery, something that could pass for genuine. "Si bella I did. You live on that floor as well?" He asks, figuring such an assumption from her words wouldn't be rude. He offers her a slight bit more of a smile, letting it press his cheeks up in a way that would make it look as if it reached his eyes.
no subject
"Yeah, last room at the end of the floor before you get to that damn single room." The one for the RA, not that she knows who this newest one is, or cares particularly about his existence. As long as he leaves her alone, that's none of her concern at this point.
Slowly she's shifting her stance to put a majority of her weight to one foot, letting that top slide just a bit more to show a good chunk more of the mark. She doesn't know, or care, at this point. But she can recognize bits of Italian at this point and it's far easier to see how badly she can throw him off his game. "And you can cut it out with the flattery, it won't get you anywhere." It's rough around the edges and with a noticeable American accent, but that... sure is some version of Italian.
no subject
"Ah, then that means I am just across the hall from you." he says with a nod, they clearly hadn't ever entered or exited their rooms at the same time yet, so they hadn't had a run in until now. He had not really noticed her on the fourth floor either, so she must have seen him while he had his back turned.
The shift of her stance brings the star further into view and he can't help the way his focus goes to it for a longer moment, and he has to work to seem as natural as possible when it hits him that it very much appears to be a star from what he can see. It's in the same spot as well, same as the picture in his wallet, and same as what he can see if he twists a bit in front of a mirror. It was odd enough to have inherited the same mark from his birth father, but for another to have the same mark? He might have thought it a tattoo if not for how exactly it matched what he knew. Her Italian, which was very interesting to hear, was enough to return his focus to her face, though now the snake was being flicked back into a pen with just the slightest hint of gold around his hand as he did so.
"You wound me to call my heartfelt words only flattery." He responds in Italian, pushing himself into the roll of charming to try and ignore the star mark. In his hand the pen changes to a full grown anole lizard. "I did not realize you knew Italian... please color me surprised." His smile now nearly at full brightness.
no subject
His lingering stare isn't helping the situation, either, as she's shifting to push that out of sight. Or, well, try to do so. Even with the weather she doesn't entirely understand how to cover every little bit of her body up, problems with coming from a place where it's almost always warm year round.
"My mother's family is Italian, that's all you need to know." The words are snipped, not seeming particularly keen on giving more detail just yet. But what she will do, is push another subject entirely.
"You seen that mark before? Guessin' on someone else?" Oh, there it is.
no subject
Backing out and running away now would not help him with this person, he could tell that much, she was too straight forward and would see it as him either hiding something or being evasive for other reasons.
How much to say though? He wasn't about to show her his own, that was for sure, but he knew lying about it completely would not work, it was clear she was focused on this subject. A partial truth then, as minimal as he could go, without risking sounding like a bigger lie than denial would. "I've only ever seen it on another in a photo." he stated, hoping he could thread the real truth between those words without revealing it. The best slight of hand was misdirection after all.
He casually turned the anole back into his pen, his focus not even on the action at this point, just using it to distract his hands while his mind is running far too fast in many directions, trying to anticipate where she would go with this.
no subject
"It's a fuckin' curse is what it is. Anyone with that fuckin' mark is tied to this bullshit-ass family and nothing good comes of it, or so it sure as hell seems." Good lord, maybe don't go that blunt. But it's too late to back out of it now. "It's some shit my entire damn family on one side evidently has, started with great-great-great grandfather, I... think? Fuck if I know, exactly." She sure won't tell him that he's here, of course not, she'd rather get a pin on who this supposed photo was.
Her attention flicks to that pen once more and this whole mess, that doesn't seem like a type of magic and if her potential theory is correct...
Well, hopefully this works.
"You got a familiar pulling that shit?"
no subject
A family mark though, that would mean he was related, right? He had more family than he'd known? For all her vulgarity and blunt talking she wasn't being mean to him, not directly. Was there maybe, just maybe, some family that wasn't that horrible? No, he needed to ignore that, he wouldn't get anywhere chasing a dream he'd long put to rest.
He'd almost fully centered himself when she demanded if he was using a familiar and he fumbled his pen, dropping it in surprise, and forgetting it was currently a pen, not something that would rebound damage back at him, he sent out a golden colored arm to grab a hold of it before it hit the ground. With a swallow he tried to recompose himself again.
"If it is? Have I done something wrong with using it?" He asked, trying to come across as curious and even worried, rather than defiant, which was how he felt at the moment.
no subject
His fumbling with the pen has her watching it carefully and that arm grabbing a hold of it? That just confirmed what she thought the case was.
... Nor does he seem to understand this shit any better than she does.
"Nah. I don't know much about this shit outside of what I've learned on my own time, but evidently each of them are different." Hell, she might as well let the guard down and just casually let Stone Free manifest properly.
"According to what I've been told by... my granduncle, they're something called Stands. A type of familiar, though kinda more specialized than others? Like I said, they evidently can do different shit depending on the person they're connected to." Why is she explaining this when she knows really nothing more than what can be glanced from a book or something else like that?
"Jolyne Cujoh, by the way. And I'm gonna take a wild fuckin' guess that you've got that goddamned mark yourself. You know anythin' about the name Joestar or are you as in the dark as I was on this shit?"
no subject
It was a bit nerve wracking admitting things, exposing any of himself, but it seems like he's found some of what he's always wanted to know and the gateway to it was sharing what little he does know. He summons Gold Experience in it's full appearance, the tall, thin stand wrapping an arm around his shoulder and chest, head tipping in to rest against his in a mildly protective and affectionate move.
"Joestar? You mean the family isn't Brando?" he asks, finding that a bit odd, the picture he has says Brando, he is certain of that. A moment of hesitation and he pulls out his wallet, opening it to the picture of Dio Brando, the man he'd been told by his mother, all to proudly, was his biological father. "This... is where I've seen it... aside from at awkward angles in the mirror." He explains, holding it out to her, the name clear on the photo. Of course, the man in the photo also had an odd scar around his neck, the skin above and below just a bit different, and the star birthmark. "This... is all I have of that family." It felt like a lame conclusion, but it was all he could figure to say. "My name is Giorno Giovana." He adds, realizing he'd forgotten that she'd given him her name.
no subject
Oh. Oh no. The name Brando doesn't ring a bell to her, but the name Dio absolutely does. And she knows what Jonathan has told her, so do give her a moment to flinch before finding her composure again.
"Oh good god. Yeah, uh, about... that... evidently he kind of stole someone's body. Which, uh, said dude's body he stole is kind of here. On the same floor we are. His spirit in a bat's body. You probably should meet him, he'd clear up a whole lot of bullshit about everything." She doesn't know much about this Dio guy outside of what he's told her, after all. Other than, well, evidently the guy had been dealt with at some point. And was a vampire or... something.
"Not really my place to tell you about your... dad... when I honestly only know from second-hand info. But, uh, other than that weirdness, I guess that still makes you part of this whole mess? I'm not going through the fuckin' family tree to figure shit out, so I'll just go with your name instead." Easier than... having to figure out relations, given the whole tree is fucked to hell anyway.
no subject
"My mother... only ever spoke of him as stunning man." He admits, looking over the photo again before closing his wallet and slipping it back into his pocket. "I never knew him, myself." He adds, to create more distance, not wanting this potential family to judge him for Dio Brando. "I am not sure how he stole anyone's body, but there are a lot of things about this part of the world I guess I'm unaware of."
The idea of a bat with a person's spirit brings a memory back from the depths of his mind, but he pushes it aside, figuring there was no way fate would play that much of a cosmic joke on his life. "You know this man spirited bat?" He asks, cocking his head to the side. It was very tempting to take the chance, to learn more, maybe have something he'd dreamed of, though he was trying hard to keep that dream silent. Likely they would not accept him, not with what he'd just heard, and he would be left alone. He needed to not get attached to the dream of a family... he had another dream to chase after all.
no subject
"Welcome to the world of magic and other stupid bullshit. I... haven't known much about it for long, myself. Until coming here." And not being in prison, but she won't bring up that part right now. No reason to.
However, she's pulling out her phone to send a text message off. O o p s.
"Of course I do. Like I said, he's pretty much my great-great-great grandfather and more or less the start of this weird family line nonsense. He's here. Same floor we're on, actually." And she just texted him to let him know what's up. Or to get him here.
no subject
"We are the same in that respect... Gold Experience only became around a year ago, and aside from people being unable to see him until I got here, I honestly only know what I've learned for myself." He admits. "Have you been here long?"
He'd have to wait on the family stuff, since she seemed to have hit the limit of what she either was willing to explain, or knew. He desperately wanted to ask about the family, wanted to know more about these people he was somehow related to. At the same time, he worried, would they want to know his childhood? The things he worked to ignore and forget? Would that be the exchange to get to learn about them? Trust wasn't born of nothing, you did something worth trust and trust was given to you, that was how he knew the world, so what would she, or this great-great-great grandfather want to prove his trust? How far was he willing to go, to earn that trust?
no subject
Really, one wonders if he'll ever be forced to share with Two rather than just One.
Anyway Jolyne apparently texted him Just Now, and he's pretty sure he can hear her out in the other room so...
Well normally he has a system to hamon the window open but it's rather cold out there and he'd rather not get all snowsuited up when the door is Right There. So instead...erm.
Well hamon doesn't really work to turn metal it just gets conducted by metal really easily so the next thing everyone knows is there's some odd 'thud' sounds as he tries to use his weight to pull a door knob.
it's fine
no subject
"Uhh. Think I've been here about ten months now? Goddamn, that's longer than I thought it was..." Which meant she's almost had her own familiar for about a year now. Not that she knew much more about the damn thing than when she started. But it also meant she'd been out of that fucking prison for close to a year. The far, far more important part of the puzzle.
Then comes the thudding noise, which... given the direction, she can only assume is one person doing something ridiculous. Luckily she doesn't have to get up and it's a nice time for Giorno to see part of the shit she can do. Not that unraveling a good bit of her fingers is particularly exciting, but it's enough to get that door open and retract just as quickly.
"I don't think slamming into the door's really gonna help, dude!"
no subject
Gold Experience was watching his user, even though his eyes were featureless, there was a quality to his position, the slight turn of his head, the way his shoulders tipped in toward Giorno, that showed his focus. Seeing his person, able to feel the panic he was concealing, the stand reached forward with the arm not wrapped around Giorno to touch the pen again, this time the power that came from it changed the object into a small field mouse that nuzzled into the teen's hand. It didn't fix things, but it would provide something soothing for the time being, letting Giorno pet the small animal.
The sound of the thud register to him, though only barely, it was rather Jolyne's reaction to it that got his attention. He watched her stand work, finding it interesting to watch. String seemed like a very useful thing to have, and versatile. Some of it seemed to be likely to depend on how the user worked with it. He did notice the way it came from her, not just being the stand but the string seemed to be a part of her, or her a part of it.
Her words then resisted and he realized that the bat was probably going to be there in just a moment, and his focus moved toward the door, wanting to have a chance to see the other. He realized while he was good at reading people he wasn't so sure that extended to a bat, which made his stomach clench; he would be without that with this person and that honestly was the most terrifying thing.
no subject
The sound from behind the door is...Soft. And when the door opens...well. There doesn't appear to be anything there. Not at first?
Looking down appears to be the answer it seems, as a rather small thing in what can best be described as a bat onesie clambers around the door. "I do apologize...I didn't think it wise to go around the usual way, but the handles for the doors don't quite turn under my weight." The bat jumps- or rather, seems to simply launch upward to a better spot to fly from, moving for Jolyne's shoulder. "But Jolyne- that message you sent, where... ...Oh-"
...And never quite gets there, ultimately. "...AH-"
Actually he just fell on the couch, his focus lost just enough that the hamon supporting him on slow air-currents dissipated. Whoops.
no subject
As for Jonathan, her attention remains on him once he speaks and she's rolling her eyes with a soft snort. Until he's... fucking up and crashing into the couch. Good... good job there.
"Thought it was kinda assumed that he'd be here," she mutters, more to herself than anything as she's carefully moving to at least right him. Never hurts to sort of help, right?
Giorno might have also noticed that Stone Free has just sort of... disappeared at this point, weird.
no subject
He takes the opportunity of the moment, while the two seem to be talking, to observe the bat... person. He's uncertain if the onesie is to help identify that this bat is a person, or if it was the person, wanting to feel more human, but it certainly managed to make him distinctive. Hearing a voice from a bat in general was an odd thing, but that voice... seemed to be prodding at something in his mind, an idea or old memory maybe? He wasn't sure just yet, but there was something there. That did not help his dilemma to stay or leave, it wouldn't be running away, because old memories weren't anything he considered worth digging up.
At the moment he seemed not unlike a statue, frozen in place, except for where he was gently petting the mouse in his hand, as if, by moving he'd draw the attention back to himself in a bad way.
no subject
Ah, got it. He looks to Giorno, and back to Jolyne. "I don't suppose...you've perhaps had a chance to see any photos from when I was human? I could swear there was at least one..." Rather, one public one, but...
Right, Giorno! "...Oh dear, I've been rather rude," he admits, coughing. There is something oddly familiar about this boy now that he looks more properly, but that's probably just the resemblance he thinks. "I do apologize...not only for the surprise, but for what I fear must be quite a shock from whatever conversation has been held between you both! I am Jonathan Joestar...I..." He tilts his head just slightly- and continues. "...Jolyne tells me you have...relation to Dio somehow? I am sorry for the awkwardness of the matter, but I truly must ask if you could share what you know of it..."
His eyes, though it's hard to tell, linger on the other's hair. Not entirely for reasons either would likely expect, for that matter.
no subject
Jolyne's merely shrugging a bit in turn, she's... sort of seen the one picture he's talking about in her trying to figure out any shit about the family. And Jonathan being the only one in any sort of book she'd been looking through. "Kinda explained why that dickhead was built like a fucking mountain and just as tall." She means her dad, of course, but like hell if she wants to use his name or that title right about now.
For the Dio situation she's going quiet and leaning back without really thinking much of it. This is more a conversation for the two of them than herself as she's no help anymore on that topic.
no subject
"If Dio Brando is the person you mean, then yes, according to my mother, he is, or was at least, my father." He offered, opening his wallet to the picture he had again, one showing Dio, but more than that, it showed Jonathan's body from the neck down, including that birthmark, visible and almost on display. "I never had reason to doubt her words on this, I have the same birthmark as he in this photo." he explained. It was no more than he'd already told Jolyne, so this much was not an issue, even if his insides still rolled wondering what more would be asked.
Gold Experience shifted slightly now, moving to a somewhat less protective position, his unoccupied arm sliding around Giorno's torso, under his arms, in a semblance of a hug, while he tipped his head, green eyes now watching Jonathan closely. Through his stand he could feel that the 'life' in the bat was far more than what it's size implied it should be.
no subject
"Ahh..." And there it is. There...he is, sort of. "...It is...strange, I must confess. Not you being here- rather, not in the way I am saying- simply..." He frowns, not entirely fond of how tonguetied he's getting. He's normally much better at speaking, to be frank.
"...Before I died, he had been so desperate you see. He was only a head- and he had his eyes quite set on me. He had determined, apparently, that as the one who had driven him to that point it was only proper. I...suppose I understood he had to have succeeded, with what the Speedwagon foundation explained but..." He traces a claw along the scar in the photo, grimacing. "...it is so very strange, to see that he had evidence..."
Ah. He is getting ahead of himself. He looks up to Giorno. "...Before I explain more however...it seems that there is a more important matter at hand indeed. I had suspected when I read Jolyne's message of course- but now at the least, I can be quite certain. I...cannot imagine how strange it must be from your own position. Indeed...if you would prefer distance, I more than understand. But that mark is a mark my family has carried across all our backs- and while it is hardly how I expected to meet any relatives, that is without a doubt the same for you. I..." The bat seems nervous- but presses on. "Dio was certainly in possesion of my body. But that does not change the blood that flowed within. And for that, I would like to apologize...I could not be there for the son I left behind with my wife- but I did not realize, that I would fail to be there for yet another as well. But if you would have me, then...I should like to be there now, if that is acceptable."
no subject
A small tremble started in the teen as he listened to Jonathan, almost as if he were shivering from cold, though it was pleasant enough in the area that he shouldn't be chilled. Gold Experience focused back on him then shifting somehow closer without dispersing himself, it's posture seeming more guarded than the relaxed it had been, which only now seemed relaxed by comparison.
Words were hard, and when Giorno opened his mouth it seemed like something was caught in his throat, a single ragged sounding breath happening before he cleared his throat. "Please don't get it wrong... I never knew this man. My mother met him, and was long away from him before she ever had me, I know nothing of him, or you, or the past between you. I... have no... no reason to turn away family before knowing them." It wouldn't be hard to be better than what he had before, that at least was for sure.
"I won't deny you the opportunity to be family... at the very least..." He offered a thin smile trying to hide the pain of memories bubbling up. "You genuinely sound like you would have tried, and that's... more than I've had." He managed before his throat felt tight again, more shivers shaking him.
