so many new things, it's like sensory overload
Who: Emille and whomever
What: A. Emille makes herself at home in her office; B. Emille checking out the library; C. An ad posted on the Iris Network; D. Wildcard.
When: Early January, through January 8 or so.
Where: A. Anywhere between Savant and the research labs in the Citadel; B. The prophecy section of the library; C. Online; D. Wherever.
Warnings: None.
A. Moving in
[Emille's eyes had lit up and her heart had skipped a beat in anticipation when she first saw the immaculate white and silver laboratory area underneath Daybreak proper. Supercomputers? Check. A full stock of chemicals? Check. Tables for dissection? Check. Stasis tubes? Check. Check, check, check!
And, best of all -- Emille was appointed as the head of this lab, given free reign to do what she wanted when she wanted as she saw fit. It was all she'd ever wanted; the culmination of so many dreams. The large office directly in the back of the laboratory complex even had her name above the door in gold lettering, and it was enough to make her smile in approval. This was going to be the beginning of something glorious.
The office itself was spacious, with a computer underneath a window looking out over the lab immediately to the left of the doorway. The desk that the computer sat on continued to wrap around the corner to also occupy the entire left wall. Bookshelves lined the back wall, and a couch sat up against the right wall ending just where the door rested when swung open. It was no luxury suite, but it was fully functional for all of Emille's needs. The couch especially caught her attention, and amused her a bit -- yes, yes, scientists were well-known for living in their labs. Sometimes it just can't be helped. But the couch will certainly help when those all-nighters arrive, which she was sure they would.
Ever since then, Emille has been moving boxes of materials from the common room of the Savant faculty dorm all the way down to her office, bit by bit. She wouldn't admit it, but some of the boxes of books are quite heavy for her, and so she's leaving them for last. Or for anyone who takes pity on a child-sized scientist...]
B. Library lurking
[Emille's finally caught a break, and so she's decided to visit the library. She'd heard good things about the number of old and rare tomes available to the campus, but she had no idea about the collection of prophecies housed in the Hall of Pythia.
It's where she is now, perusing the titles, hoping to see if anyone's ever had any visions of Dragon daemons. Someone might want to point her to the prophecy index, though, before she spends all night here.]

Anyone interested in working in a state-of-the-art laboratory or learning about scientific procedures is welcome to join Head Researcher Emille in the Citadel's labs as a lab assistant. As an assistant, you will help with research projects, help keep the lab in pristine condition, and have the opportunity to do your own research.
Multiple positions are available. Students with previous lab experience are preferred, but anyone who is eager to learn is welcome. THIS WILL BE LIKE A JOB, so you will be expected to work and produce results. You will be compensated for your time.
Please reply to this ad or see Head Researcher Emille if you are interested, or if you have further questions. Thank you.

D. Wildcard
Would you like to introduce yourself to Emille elsewhere on campus, perhaps when she doesn't seem as busy? Want to reply to her ad in person? Go right ahead! Or whatever else your heart desires. I'm down for whatever. Emille might not be, but she'll just have to deal with it.

Thankfully he caught her while on the Savant steps, so after an actual audible sigh that signified her giving in, she put her box down and acknowledged the offer.]
Sir [ah he had a German name, right? oh right] Gehring? [Her face is flushed from all of the movement in the cold January air as she turns her full attention to him.] I believe I would appreciate a bit of assistance, yes. Even the smallest bit would help tremendously. There are a few boxes immediately inside the Savant building to the right that are a little heavy for me. If you could follow me with one of the boxes, I can lead you to where it needs to go. [She hesitates for a second, then adds,] Just helping with one box would be more than enough.

It's worth noting that he's only holding one in his arms, however. The other two are being lifted, apparently effortlessly, by bandages that seem to come from behind him. ~*Magic.*~ ]
I'm at your service, miss Emille. Please, lead the way.
[ If she leads, he'll follow, as he's said. He's a man of his word, at the very least. ]
I hope moving in hasn't been too troublesome for you otherwise?
no subject
She picks the box she had been carrying back up, then nods towards him.] Thank you very much, Sir Gehring. Please, follow me. We are heading towards the labs in the Citadel, where my office is.
[As she begins to move down the steps, she answers his question.] No, moving in has been okay so far. Deciding what to take to my room and what to take to my office has been the most difficult task, quite honestly. I am yet unsure as to where I will be spending most of my nights, in Savant or the labs. But the textbooks and lab equipment that you are carrying most certainly belong in my office.
Where is your office located, Sir Gehring? [She's still trying to get acquainted with the campus, after all.]

Another workaholic? He can't say he's particularly surprised. This school seems to attract individuals who are passionate in that way. ]
Well, if you need arrangements made for additional sleeping facilities in your new laboratories, feel free to ask. There's no reason you shouldn't get decent sleep there as well as in your rooms.
[ He hums before he addresses that next question, as they walk. ]
My office is in the infirmary, on the ground floor. [ It's not so much an office as a semi-open cubicle, though, given he doesn't want to shut himself in a room and ignore infirmary patients. ] I share it with Hieke.

[Emille looks at him with curiosity when she hears that his office is in the infirmary.] Are you a doctor, Sir? I have a background in biology, so I would be interested in hearing how your magical techniques [at least she assumes, seeing his abilities in action at this moment] differ from the mundane methods that I am familiar with.
[She mulls over the name "Hieke." It sounds possibly Japanese?] Is this Sir Hieke a doctor as well?
no subject
Hieke is also a doctor, yes. More specifically, he's a healer, and uses far more magic than I tend to. [ His tone is very matter of fact, describing it - it's just a difference in their methods and powers, after all. ]
If there's any questions you'd like to ask in particular, feel free. It's the least I can do while helping you to settle in.
no subject
Interesting that you are more of a physical doctor while Sir Hieke is more of a magical doctor. I am certainly interested in seeing your abilities in action, and how the both of you support each other. [Emille looks away for a moment in hesitation, then looks back at Ekkehardt.] I know this may sound strange, but would there be a possibility that I shadow Sir Hieke and yourself while treating a patient one day? I am merely curious, especially about how magic can be used in healing.
[She pauses again and shakes her head slightly.] No, I suppose it would be better if I just sat in on one of your classes, Sir Gehring. I would not want to be in the way during such a delicate procedure. [She'll let practicality rule over curiosity this time.]
no subject
Our different areas of expertise allow us to cover each other's weaknesses, so it works out well, don't you think? I value Hieke's power and experience very highly. [ Not that he'd ever tell him that plainly to his face. Hieke might combust or something. ]
no subject
Understood, as I would expect no less from medical professionals. Nevertheless, I appreciate your invitation.
[The two enter the Grand Hall -- they are going somewhere, promise -- and head towards the elevators that head down into the Citadel. The labs are so close, yet so far
undergroundaway.]Yes, it is indeed fortunate that Daybreak has such a well-rounded medical staff. I would hope that the two of you have some assistants, however? Two people can take care of only so many patients simultaneously.
