Mal didn't spend all her time causing chaos and crime. Sometimes she just wanted to practice. Something nice. It was times like this you could forget she was a half-fae daughter of a monster.Outside the Quad
Mal had a canvas out and she was painting, with a brush.
...A dark ominous scary castle on a cliff over a jagged set of rocks. Aww, that's so cute, she's painting home.
The snow had melted away in a perfect circle around Mal. Just the snow, the grass under was untouched. All Around Campus/Mal's Room (Lumiere Dorm)
...mostly.
What do you want, she's practicing really hard at not setting everything on fire!
All over Campus there are signs, she also posted it on the network.Need a Fairy Godmother for the Ball?
Low Prices for the best looks?
Bring a picture of what you want, and any old ratty thing, to Mal.
Lumiere Dorm - 404
Mal's room doesn't have a second resident at the moment, so it makes sense that the entire room is... wrong. Anyone can sense magic can sense that she's coated the entire room in transformation spells, to twist the bed up into something gothic and dark. Change the drapes, the bedding. Stretch the dresser, blacken the walls.
Yeah, nobody would look for a fairy godmother in here. Whoever has come in, because the door was open, "Got a picture of what you want me to make?"

No friendly hello, or a wave. Nope. Not from Tatsumaki. She's the sort who gets right to the point most of the time. She does like Mal, though, so the fact that she's even visiting counts for something. It's an oddly specific question, though.
"I thought it was a possibility considering."
Mal did play with fire, both literally and figuratively on a regular basis, after all.

Mal turned around tossing her sketchbook to her bed. "Any reason you wanna make things less flammable? For me to do that I'd probably need to make a potion and soak the clothes in it for something a little less... disastrous."

While it was true that she could surround herself with telekinetic energy for added defense, she actually rather liked the dress she'd picked out. It was classy. The sort of thing she could wear to events that her foster parents dragged her along to when they wanted to rub elbows with prestigious families within supernatural circles. It was classy, comfortable, and it had pockets. If some daemon ruined it with fire breath, she was liable to stab it through the skull with a spoon.

Mal was doing neither, but that never stopped her from being curious. She wandered over to a ramshackle bookcase and started leafing through one of the older tomes of her's. "If this is a 'just for the night' thing, bring the dress over earlier in the day and I'll work some fairy godmother thing up for it. Should last till noon, and probably won't turn the dress green or anything."
Mal will try extra hard to not change the outfit's color but she's not making promises she can't keep. She's a fae, they have issues with that.
no subject
It was her roundabout way of saying that she actually was attending the ball, albeit for the purposes of combat.
"I'm going to bring in some of those large jugs for water coolers."
With her telekinesis combined with her battle partner/date's ice magic, they could make sure the daemons' fire was well contained.
"Just for the night should be fine."

She knocked on the door, and when it opened, Orihime had her dress picture held up in front of her smiling face.
...............No.
"Ah ha ha, just kidding! That's for later." She shuffled the picture behind a different one of a fairly simple blue dress with a long skirt that she thought would be perfect for her intended purposes. "Just something simple like this would suit me better. Is that okay?"
no subject
When she did look at the two dresses, "There's no way I can hide that you've got a baseball bat under that. You sure?" Mal starts rifling through her papers to where she wrote down Orihime's measurements. Which helped making it clear she had the right person. Quickly sketching out the dress.

She unslung the backpack from her shoulders and removed an ugly pop floral dress in olive green, mustard, and rust that she picked up from the thrift store dumpster. Even they didn't want it, and now it would become a magical fairy dress. Needless to say, Orihime was pumped.
"Did you get many customers yet? Am I the first?"
no subject
Mal doesn't know what one wears under a dress like this. Because Mal's never worn anything like this. Only made them for others. Also the face Mal made at the dress Orihime pulled out is impressed. She's made sweat suits, track suits, disco suits, surgical gowns, and a shower curtain into clothes before. This has got to be way uglier than all those combined. Mal grabs a coathanger off her desk, "You contacted me first, but you're not the first to show up. Put the dress on this hanger and hang it from the curtain rod over the window."
Mal normally wouldn't show off, but Orihime seemed really interested. And Mal likes attention.
no subject
Ah, well, she doubted anybody would notice, and it wasn't any different than wearing a swimming suit in the end.
She stood on her toes and hooked the hanger onto the curtain rod, then stepped back.
"So what are you going to wear?" she asked, not taking her eyes off the dress since she didn't want to miss a split second of the magic.

Kohaku kind of casually stood next to Mal and held her hands out to warm them like she was a space heater.]
Don't mind me.
no subject
*Evil faeries don't like being used as personal heaters. She might also be juggling fireballs and looking dangerously close to dropping an orb of green fire near this person, whoever they are.*

[Taking half a step back before she drops one.]

Or make your own fire.
*Mal 'accidentally' drops a fireball and it- vanishes, shortly before it'll set anything on fire.*

Not in the next four minutes. Come on have a heart, I'm dying here.

"Are you like, a really hot or something?"
Jinx, please think before you say things.
Any things.
no subject
"I dunno, do you think I'm really hot?" Mal couldn't ignore that low hanging fruit either.
Mal moved on to stretching before she did anymore practice with her fire. "Is the view better from up there or something?"
no subject
Just with a lot more firearms.
And explosions. Definitely lots more explosions.
"I mean, you've gotta be. From way up here, all I can see is you're melting the snow just by being around it!"
no subject
And some of the grass bursts into flames. The fire is green. Mal quickly stamps it out.
"Why are you way up there?"
no subject
"I mean, if you could fly, wouldn't you be up here doing the same?" She asks, finally landing right next to her.

cinderella time!
That 'any old ratty thing' in her arms? It's not the worst thing in the world, but it's far from dance-worthy.
She just assumes that the other girl has done some remodeling, and while she takes a second to look over Mal's handiwork, Minako offers the outfit in her arms to Mal.
"Got somewhere to set this? The picture's on my phone."
no subject
"You know the basic rules about how this works, right?" Not everyone is taking a class on faecraft. So Mal always wants people to know the rules. Cause no refunds if you end up surprised your spell wears off. She tosses her sketchbook to her bed and stands up. "The old stories, fairy godmothers and helping pure hearted girls and all that."
no subject
She knows the basics—bring something to have transmogrified, and let Mal do the rest. But as far as the particulars... she could make some educated guesses based on fairy tales, but it feels rude to assume the same thing here applies. Still... "But if it's anything like what I've read, I'm guessing there's a time limit?"
no subject
Mal picks up a measuring tape and starts taking measurements to be sure she has the right numbers to work from when she conjures the spell later. Look she's going to get close just try not to be weird about it girl Mal doesn't know well enough to be this close.
"I make them strong enough they wear off with my power being denied by nature. But if you get stabbed with some cold iron I can't help it if the spell pops. Same with anything else that disrupts fae magic specifically. Once the spell settles anything else shouldn't be enough to end it. I also make no promises on the color of your dress because I gotta make a lot of dresses and my power has its- preference."
no subject
"I don't plan on getting stabbed at all, so I don't think that'll be a problem," She jokes with a straight face. "Is there anything else I should know about? And about payment..."
They haven't discussed that yet. She should probably get an idea on whether this witch is going to bankrupt her before the ball.
