Afternoon at the Museum

Who: Yang... and you!
What: It's time for a field trip to the Musée de l'Armée in Paris, France. The afternoon is in the museum. But Yang took everyone at like 10 AM as an excuse to get out and see Paris.
Where: Paris! And at the Army Museum.
When: February 25
Notes: The following prompts are if you want to interact with Yang directly! Otherwise, please feel free to use this as an excuse to do threads in Paris! Yang's taking basically anyone -- heck, even other teachers, TA's, and RA's -- because he really just wanted an easy field trip after grading all the papers and despairing over the fact he might have made his courses too hard.

A. WE'RE ABOUT TO HAVE PARIS RIGHT NOW

[The helicopters have landed at Charles de Gaulle airport, everyone has bused into the city center, and it's now about 11:00 in the morning. They aren't supposed to be at the museum until two. Thus, standing in front of the crowd, Wen-li Yang...

...is due to give a speech.]

So, Paris! It's a pretty big deal.

[Hm, what else is important...]

Meet at the Army Museum at 2! And try to not get in too much trouble. Have fun!

[He'll hang around for a second in case anyone has questions.]

B. AND NOW: OLD STUFF!

[At about 1:57 PM, Yang comes running up with a sandwich still in his mouth and a paper cup with tea in it in hand. He skids to a stop in front of the museum's steps, looks around, and... peers at the people waiting for him.

Then, sheepishly, he waves.

The museum is much too big to do a guided tour. However, unlike the free roam period in Paris, Yang is actually a good source of information here. He roams between the different groups of students, answering questions, providing historical detail, and showing that he isn't actually terrible at his job all of the time.

He'd be easy to approach during any of this.]

Oh, there was a ball for Valentine's Day and daemons attacked! I don't think anyone was hurt too badly and nobody died~!

[At least no one told him anyone died.]

I think it was pretty uneventful as daemon attacks go~!

[Not that he has any idea how daemon attacks usually go.]

What? Really?!

[Oh geez, what the hell has she gotten herself into?]

I'm glad nobody was that badly hurt but are those...are those common?

[Please tell her no.]

I hope not~! I haven't been here long either and really, I don't know much more about what goes on~!

[Partially because he spent the better part of a month freaking out, partially because he doesn't pay attention.]

But as thing are going, I'd say avoid all school dances just to be safe!

Geez...

[Now she's worried about being here. But if things are usually fine then it's okay, right?

Right.]

Hah, I'm sure there aren't going to be that many dances to worry about.

[yokeye]

Not after that one~!

[Which probably doesn't help reassure her. He gestures to the last snail pastry.]

Do you want it!?

[transfusionem]

You have a point.

[And are super not reassuring.

She shakes her head, motioning for him to take it.]

You can have it!

[yokeye]

[He eats the last pastry, and has definitely had too many of them.]

How long until we have to get back to the museum?

[transfusionem]

[Better you than her.]

We have to get back at 2, right?

[She checks her phone. They've taken more time than she thought.]

We'll still get back on time, though!

[yokeye]

Okay~! We'll head back, then!

[He's just going to pay for everything, if she doesn't mind. Or had he done that already? Uhh.]

Did we pay already, like when we first ordered?

[transfusionem]

Sounds good!

[And that's...a good question. Adelaide had been distracted with taking pictures of the place, so she hadn't notice if Toki had paid or not.]

I think so? If we hadn't paid I think everyone would be way more annoyed.

[yokeye]

[That sounds logical to him.]

Okay, then!

[Apparently, they had already paid as no one stops them on the way out.]

[transfusionem]

[They leave without incident, and Adelaide feels herself relaxing slowly.]

So...does this happen a lot?

[yokeye]

[He assumes she's talking about the visions, and not forgetting to pay at restaurants.]

I guess, but not like all the time.

[But it does happen again at the museum later, so joke's on him.]

They're getting better though! Everything used to be like really frightening and weird and so much at once! It's really not a big deal~!

[He looks up directions back to the museum on his phone, since he doesn't know which way they came from.]

[Really, it could be both.]

Okay...

[And then, with a little bit more confidence-]

Okay. I'm glad they're getting better for you, at least. It seemed pretty intense.

[She's already heading down the street, actually remembering how to get back, though she stops for Toki and raises her eyebrows.]

It's this way.

[yokeye]

[He looks up from his phone, and Adelaide's already making her way down the street.]

I knew that~! I was just...

[He has no excuses. He catches up with her and says nothing else; she's knows where they're going.]

[transfusionem]

[She waits for him to catch up, before picking back up. Her memory is pretty good, and she probably won't get them lost.

Probably.]

It's okay. We might need the directions just in case.

[yokeye]

Always good to have a backup~!

[Walking back to the museum, he's taking pictures again. Some of the same things he'd already photographed on the way to the restaurant.]

[transfusionem]

[That's about when it clues in for Adelaide. It's not like any of her actions are subtle.]

...You already have pictures of that. Don't you remember?

[yokeye]

No~! But that happens! Lately, anyway, like just this month! It's okay, I'm used to it!

[And he intends to look into it, eventually.]

I don't uh, I don't remember going to the restaurant, just that we were talking about getting chocolate somewhere! It's only been what, like a half hour? It's not that much time really~!

[transfusionem]

You really should.

[Well, she's concerned about him. Her brow furrows, and she frowns at him as she listens to him.

On the other hand, she's...a little bit relieved. If he's forgotten their time at the restaurant, then that means he's forgotten that she admitted to being a vampire. That's a good thing.]

I guess it's not that much time, but that's still really concerning. But I'm sure it'll be okay, yeah?

[yokeye]

[He'll re-learn the vampire secret one day.]

It will be fine~! I'll figure it out!

[If not, well, he brought it on himself. He'll deal.]

Oh! I know where we are now!

[They've reached where they started the restaurant excursion.]

[transfusionem]

[And maybe that time she'll panic slightly less.]

Yeah, I hope so.

[You're doing her a big worry.]

Oh, you do? Good!

[That's a relief to hear, honestly. Adelaide feels herself relaxing just a little bit as she takes a look around.]

I think we're a little early...

[yokeye]

That's okay~!

[He's never early for things, and isn't sure what to do. He doesn't want to go inside and look at museum junk any earlier than he has to, though. Toki points to a bench near the museum entrance.]

Should we just wait? It's not too cold out~!

[He's heading there anyway, because whatever was in the pastries is not settling.]

[She follows after him, a small frown still on her face. She wants to believe he's fine and everything is okay, but...

Ugh. Magic and visions and all of that is too complicated.]

It's pretty nice, yeah. But if you get too cold they might have benches inside, too...

[Probably not, but it might be a good idea. The cold doesn't bother her very much anymore.]

I'm sure they do~!

[He likes the cold air, though.]

How are the fish doing?

[He's just going to make idle small talk while they wait for everyone; and also review vision notes for similarities. She's probably lost him from focused conversation for a while.]
