Imagine Wist's surprise when April rolled around and their plan for a great prank was foiled on account of all those students just...leaving??? Truly, they have become the April fool... It's what they wanted, of course -- for the pitiful humans to find freedom -- and sure there are some stragglers around, but...in the end, they decide to take the win and enjoy a short break of their own. Good thing, too, or they might have pulled out all their hair in frustration when Spring Break comes to an end and the swarm of students and faculty willingly return to their prison.

While settling back into the academy and resigning themselves to a routine, the people of Daybreak will be soothed by a gentle tune rising up from the forest. It isn't a song they've heard before, and yet, somehow...it's nostalgic, isn't it? The soft notes of the pan flute stir up something in their hearts, tugging at old memories and drawing forth a feeling of dissatisfaction and longing out from under them. Let the song lull them into taking a moment to withdraw from the hustle and bustle -- hey, turns out they sort of need it. Maybe they're coming down with a cold, or just some quick little bug...

The odd message from an iris account that doesn't exist isn't up for long before the spell kicks into the next phase. However they manifest and from when differs from person to person, but those affected will all have the bizarre experience of watching some ghost of themselves from their past be born from their soul's memory. Don't think there are those that can escape this fate just by returning at a later time, either -- Wist can keep up this panpipe nonsense all day, every day if they have to. If that what it takes to get their point across...

Good luck trying to comprehend whatever point that may be, because now Daybreak is the new home to a bunch of familiar-looking rugrats and has to contend with whatever complications they may bring along with them.

[Wen-li Yang was "convinced" (some might say manipulated) into a practical operation for the students: letting them fire huge cannons.

Originally, he was going to let them build their own. Then he did the research and realized one cannot simply construct artillery pieces with no experience. So he instead made a few phone calls back to the Navy, and got a set of lighter artillery pieces sent out. They're still bigger than most civilians have ever seen, which Yang thinks will pass muster.

Besides, they don't need to destroy fortifications at Verdun, they're blowing up wooden Potemkin village houses today.

Students are divided into teams of three. Each is given an artillery piece -- fixed on a turret, which can only cover the area away from the school and the town -- and has to hit targets that pop up. The wooden targets include wooden cut-outs of huge daemons, of demonic castles, and other scary, Nightfall-themed things. They also include buildings made to look like normal village houses and shops, which should not be fired on.

Yang, for his part, is standing back and watching. He's easy to approach in the command tent, where he has binoculars -- and a radio. And, of course, staff are on hand to help show people how to load the cannons, aim them, and fire them... but they have to do it themselves.]

Yang's taking basically anyone -- heck, even other teachers, TA's, and RA's -- because he really just wanted an easy field trip after grading all the papers and despairing over the fact he might have made his courses too hard.

A. WE'RE ABOUT TO HAVE PARIS RIGHT NOW

[The helicopters have landed at Charles de Gaulle airport, everyone has bused into the city center, and it's now about 11:00 in the morning. They aren't supposed to be at the museum until two. Thus, standing in front of the crowd, Wen-li Yang...

...is due to give a speech.]

So, Paris! It's a pretty big deal.

[Hm, what else is important...]

Meet at the Army Museum at 2! And try to not get in too much trouble. Have fun!

[He'll hang around for a second in case anyone has questions.]

B. AND NOW: OLD STUFF!

[At about 1:57 PM, Yang comes running up with a sandwich still in his mouth and a paper cup with tea in it in hand. He skids to a stop in front of the museum's steps, looks around, and... peers at the people waiting for him.

Then, sheepishly, he waves.

The museum is much too big to do a guided tour. However, unlike the free roam period in Paris, Yang is actually a good source of information here. He roams between the different groups of students, answering questions, providing historical detail, and showing that he isn't actually terrible at his job all of the time.

He'd be easy to approach during any of this.]

A. LET'S PLAY FROGGER; Lumiere dorm, 3rd floor common area

[Nana has a pet frog.

She worked with Minako to acquire said pet frog, and create a habitat for him. Now, there is a tank with a bullfrog inside of it. A somewhat sizeable tank, and there's water, stones, a house, lily pads, and... er... a large plastic banana. Kerrogan has a happy home, and she has placed his tank in the common room, near a window.

Nana's working on some notes -- studying, probably -- but she looks up to the giant clear tank with a frog in it, and asks said frog:]

Kerrogan, are you enjoying the sun?

[He ribbits in response.]

B. YOU DONUT KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING; out on the Quad

[Everyone at this point is probably used to Nana setting up shop on the Quad and just giving out baked goods.

But, because even a broken clock is right twice a day, she... isn't serving something with bananas.

Because she hasn't learned how to make banana donuts. Her usual stand is unfolded, but instead of "BANANICE" as the banner of choice, it says: "DONUT... NICE?" The question mark is bolded. Nana is uncertain about selling something without bananas. It borders on heresy.

But... donuts cannot have bananas...]

C. BUT YOU KNOW THE SCORE; auditorium, in a music room

[Nana knows how to play piano. In the hallway of the theater building, the sound of abortive stop-and-start piano playing can be heard.

She isn't practicing piano, though.

If one were to look in on Nana, they'd see her sitting at a piano, with a music book. She is, in fact, working on the score to the music for the newest play: the Bee Play (title pending), and scribbling notes on what she thinks would sound good. She plays a few more notes... then sighs, and starts over again.

Composing is hard.]
